Jake Gyllenhaal: Shaved Head for 'End of Watch'

Jake Gyllenhaal shows off his shaved head while getting to work on his upcoming movie, End of Watch, on Thursday (April 21) in Los Angeles.

The 30-year-old actor shot some promo pics with co-star Michael Pena in full police uniform.

The David Ayer-directed drama centers on the long-term friendship and partnership between two cops and is expected to hit theaters sometime next year.

On Friday, Jake covered up his new look by wearing a Pittsburgh Pirates cap and hoodie while leaving Tavern restaurant.

Why would anyone want to see a movie with this guy in it? Where have all the real movie stars gone?

  • madmax

shooting doesn’t start until July 6th, these were promotional shots they were doing in downtown LA last week.

  • Sassy

    He’s SUCH a cutie!!!!!!

  • Ken

I find it kind of funny when he butches it up like this, kind of like a kid dressing up. I do like him and I really hope he has some respectable box office finally, so many misses!

  • ace11

This guy is a complete LOSER

  • hal

Ken I feel the same way as you did in terms of “dressing up.” I think Jake is a terrific talent but when he goes into “butch” or “tough” mode I don’t fully believe it. He was very good in playing tough in Jarhead. But that’s the thing for me. I SEE him playing tough but I never once actually BELIEVED it. Mainly because Jake’s screen personality is mainly of a brainy intellectual and not a butchy Alpha Male. In fact when I think of his performance in Jarhead the only thing I fully remember about it was his half-naked, now infamous Santa dance. Now that scene was HAWT! LOL.

@Mumford&Fans: I’m sure some of his friends loaned him some clothes. I think Jake is a wanna be musician, he has a lot of friends who are in that biz.

  • Macey

I don’t like these roles he’s been accepting. I really don’t see him as a cop.

  • lolly

Even with shaved head and gun in his hands he is hot!!!

ICK!! The Vin Diesel look is not for him!

most of Hollywood’s great stars are either retired or dead. he’s never going to be in the league with Clark Gable Cary Grant Gary Cooper & his own godfather Paul Newman. he’s a decent actor but those 4 were great the charecters their best remembered for are Rhett Butler Gone With The Wind Marshall Kane in Gugh Noon Tom Winters in Houseboat & Fast Eddie Felson in The Hustler & Color Of Money for which he won the oscar on his 7th nomination as best actor the six actors that had beat him previously were David Niven, Maxamilian Schell, Sidney Poitier,Rod Steiger, Henry Fonda & Ben Kingsley & the films for which they won were Seperate Tables, Judgement at Nurenburg, Lilies In The Field, In The Heat Of The Night, On Golden Pond & Ghandi

Perhaps the actors haven’t blame because the film aren’t good at present.
The great actors in the past had better directors and filmmakers whose had more background and made the film about books AND LITERATURE.

  • mark

all the movie stars are dead or out of the biz. this guy cannot act he just basically learns a script. heath ledger was a movie star, he actually became the character he was portraying. he reminded me of some of the greats who are also now deceased.

Mark I don’t completely agree with you in terms of Jake not having talent. I believe he does and he has shown it. I grant you his talent currently doesn’t have great depth, but it is appealing. But I do think Jake focus more on wanting to be a moviestar instead of being a film actor. We have the George Clooney moviestar camp and the Sean Penn film actor camp. We have some actors who are able to swim in both camps, Johnny Depp as an example. I think with time Jake will eventually develop that ability to be swim in both camps as well. But at the present it appears he wants to be more of Clooney then a Penn. I totally agree with you about Heath Ledger. If his tragic death didn’t happened I think Ledger would have definitely been in the Penn camp!

  • Chris

Jake Gyllenhaal will never be like Johnny Depp, he hasn’t got the talent or charisma. He’s not even a leading man. Hollywood’s been selling him as leading man for years but no one’s buying ergo his poor box office in spite of the PR machine behind him. The best this guy can hope for is to be like Clooney unfortunately he doesn’t have half of Clooney’s personal appeal.

  • Mrs. Toth is a JOKE!!!

He looks nothing like JIM SLOTH!!!!! This is for a movie role and Sloth keeps his hair gone. I wonder if something is wrong with his hair or scalp?

  • Covert Operations

I really dislike him. He is a sell out.

In may opinion the actors need a good story and script.
Unfortunatly the people who work in Hollywood are completely ignorant and don’t seem ateend school…..Or they have severe mental retadation to learn to read and write.
There are good books worldwide….and the lack of culture of Hollywood leadears observed by the topics they choose for the actors act.
