Rachel Weisz: 'Oz' Evil Witch?

Rachel Weisz is currently in talks to play the evil witch in Oz: The Great and Powerful, THR reports.

The 41-year-old British actress would play Evanora, the powerful villainess who tries to rule the land.

Mila Kunis has already signed on to play Evanora’s younger sister, Theadora, while James Franco will take on the role of Oz.

The flick, directed by Sam Raimi, is expected to begin production this summer.

    @WHY?:

    I actually think the compromise resulted in a better choice for the role in my opinion.

    Hilary Swank would not have been a good choice for the role like she’s been in her last few roles. Michelle Williams is way too young for the role. Rachel Weisz is not only the right age but has the acting chops to pull it off.

    i think she will be great in that role because she is a good actress and it’s nice to see her in something less expected..we’ll see..

    I love that rachel Is considering this role, I will be something completely different from what her audience is used to seeing. Kunis, I love, she is beautiful (as well as Weisz) underrated, and is showing she has range and isnt just a pretty face.
    Franco I’ve always liked him, he is a great actor, and has this “I dont give a f*** about what people say” attitude, which I love!.
    Though I had my doubt about him playing the wizard, he was never in my mind to play this role. But I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt, becasue I also thought the same thing when Pineapple came out I thought he could not do comedy, but he proved me wrong.!…So hopefully he proves me wrong again!.
