Woody Harrelson: Hunger Games' Haymitch Abernathy!

Woody Harrelson is the latest actor to join the cast The Hunger Games!

The 49-year-old No Country for Old Men star will play Haymitch Abernathy in the much anticipated big screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins‘ popular novel.

“Haymitch is such an unforgettable character: funny cranky outrageous, sarcastic, impatient, biting but ultimately kind. I’m so grateful we have Woody Harrelson to play him. I can’t wait for us to get to work,” director Gary Ross said.

Woody will star opposite Jennifer Lawrence, who scored the lead role of Katniss Everdeen.

Other previously announced cast members include Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark, Wes Bentley as Seneca Crane, Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket, and Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne.
