    A Superman Returns reunion!
It is disappointing that they did not show more of James Woods who should do more mainstream movies like he used to (he’s only seen in the background at 1.46).

  • Katarzyna

    Heheh, good one :)
I don’t think I will see this though as this is not my kind of movie, you know :)

  • Johanna

Woooo! Straw Dogs is going to be huge! I’ll be going on opening night with all my girls! Hahah.. freakin’ fantastic, can’t wait! Here come the girls! (Girls, Girls, Girls, Girls) OH YEAH BABY!!! :)

No, I refuse to watch any movie that glorifies the rape and sodomy of a woman.

  • ia ma

Reminds me of the movie “The strangers” looks good

  • Dieter

I hope that Kate gets her well-deserved Oscar !!!! She is so talented and hard working and hottest woman alive !!!!

  • Canuck

I can’t do these kind of movies. Too much angst, too much violence and I’ll miss the denouement because of it, just can’t watch that. :(

  • AnnmarieZ

Didn’t Alex practice a southern accent for this role, it doesn’t even sound like he has an accent at all.

  • Peanut Gallery

Just the start of the promo for this. Pass me a beer to wash down the nuts!

  • mod-zod-1

    The original movie was instense.

I am NOT into this either..for many reasons. The main one being –
ASkars and his gf Bos …too over-exposed. I cannot watch now –without thinking of the pix of them covering their faces, etc and being annoyed by cameras.

He’s loss cred to me. Msytic. Actors should be low key and try as much as possible to keep that personal life—personal.

  • qwerty

    @Dieter: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH………………….!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HILARIOUS!!!!!!!

  • ladybug

@it’smeagainmargaret: Well that’s it. Alex has received pretty good reviews for this, but I still don’t to watch it.
That and the acting black hole that is the lead actress.

  • ElisaDay

It looks like a pretty good thriller

  • Jessie

Nope, this movie looks mediocre to me and I’ll never pay money to see Bonesworth ruin a movie.

  • it’smeagainmargaret

Anyone that wants to discuss Alex, TB or even this disgusting movie SD come on over to this thread

Give Alex and the posts that are just about him the numbers they deserve, don’t waste them on this, let Dieter and Hans handle it.

  • BigJohnson

Wow, Kate looks hotter then ever, yes she does. Love the hot pants, very fiting for the hot lady that she is.

  • iv league

Odd trailer. Skars looks mean and threatening in the face but when he speaks, the anger/hatred isn’t there in his voice. Also the ‘This was his end,’ This was his beginning’ stuff is kind of weird. I like Skars a lot, am indifferent to Bos, but HATE Bosgard and all the crap that has gone with that. I won’t see this in the theater, maybe rent through Netflix.

  • Jil

Poor Alex hes just some status symbol for Kate Bosworth.

  • Hans

    @iv league:

As a person that has seen the movie, then James Woods is the angry one… won’t say any more… :-P

  • ladybug

@Dieter: Isn’t it a bit early in the morning to be sniffing glue?

  • Holic

Can’t stand the Katewhatabitch, but I think I will watch it just for Alex & James. ( Kate isn’t what we call an actress, right ? )

  • Sian

I kinda thought they would put a different spin on the original story (which I didn’t love to begin with) but it seems like they just put the story in a different locale. Then why remake it in the first place?

  • iv league

    @Hans:

Interesting. I watched the original SD out of curiosity and really really liked it. The original Charlie is actually quite pleasant (with a few exceptions of course) but they seemed to be doing a different take here. I’m curious to see the different take but not until it’s been out on DVD for a while because I refuse to monetarily support the Bosgard PR nonsense.

  • Hmm

It’s interesting that the still of Kate above makes it clear that she isn’t even enticing bra-less. Which kind of kills the underpinning of the movie. But we knew that from the Fiasco down Mexico Way. Skars will probably be good, as will Woods and some of the other surrounding characters, but not enough to make the movie successful. Hope it helps his overall portfolio.

  • Dieter

I has a wank on Kate’s tight full round meaty buns. They can easily bring Africa through the winter !!!

  • Sara

I’ll watch this only for Alexander Skarsgård and James Woods. Maybe for Dominic Purcell too

  • Canuck

    @Dieter: Africa doesn’t have much of a winter… just saying…

  • sx2

It looks alright. I’ll probably watch it, but unfortunately not in the theaters. Plus, I’m not a huge fan of watching couples act when the relationship is all over the web it distracts.

  • burnt bacon

Yet another movie where the ineffectual woman cowers and waits around to be victimized while her mayuuunnnn fights the good fight. If I want to see that, I’ll watch…well, pretty much any other movie out there. Pass.

  • burnt bacon

Oh, and we’re supposed to believe that the rednecks did that to her because they thought she was so hot and sexy? Way to reinforce that inaccurate and disgusting little piece of rape culture, guys.

  • okay

if the past two years would have never happened I may have considered it. I bet Rod Laurie is pissed. So not going to pay for this

  • giggi

This trailer looks good! I wasnt expecting much of a remake, but who’s gonna pass up Skarsgård shirtless in what’s bound to be an intense role? And from what I saw of Marsden and Bosworth in this clip, the acting is also good. I myself have never seen her in anything, only on this web site and clothing sites. She looks like a decent actress, but not looking forward to the infamous scene… :(

  • Jane

Looks nice, and gosh Kate is such a stunning woman, wow, that face, AND body!

  • Sian

@burnt bacon: That was also what some people (including Roger Ebert who reviewed it) had a problem with about the original; not even from a feminist standpoint, just that the fact that a couple of men will risk getting seriously hurt for no good reason at all was very hard to believe. The hostility from the locals towards the man out of town – fine, but the dramatic finale was more than a little unrealistic.
All that said the trailer is really well-cut, I have to admit.

  • ladybug

@Sian: I thought the original was misogynist, and I really didn’t like any of the characters, even Amy, who at the end I should have at least some more sympathy for than I could conjure up.
Supposedly Lurie has worked on it being a bit less misogynist, and making Amy less of a doormat.

  • lafamepoma

ALEX I ADORE YOU! U are my GOD I believe in you cause you really exist ^^ Please people stop the video in the minute 1:39 and enjoy…. the body, that boy, that joy, that treasure….I’m gonna watch this movie only for him, I didn’t watch the original.

  • Hmm

@Sian: See, that’s what I didn’t like – I thought the trailer could have been far more interesting. It seemed choppy, amateurish and went right for the fire/guns action – Peckinpah’s was a long slow simmer into the boil and had a lot of tension. The relationship the characters have with each other is critical, not the firefight. But I sure didn’t mind Alex taking his shirt off. Thanks for that!

  • heartless

Why is Alex so damn sexy? I mean, that tongue is just too perfect. Also, I find it a bit disrespectful to James that his name isn’t included in the title. Of course JJ knows what’s going to draw in the readers, though. Skarsworth’s show-mance sure makes for a nice spectacle surrounding this movie. WTH are they going to do when it comes time for press and pictures? Are they going to stand on opposite sides of James and not interact at all? That will make for awkward interviews, because we all know the relationship question will arise. I’m betting that after SD release they call their “relationship” quits.

  • Sian

@Hmm: I see your point but I guess they wanted to push it into action movie territory? Like I said, I didn’t even love the original (think Peckinpah’s made better movies) and maybe Lurie has done something interesting with it but it seems play-by-play and Susan whats-her-name even had the same hair as Bosworth so I don’t get what the point is of this re-telling.

  • Cafélady

Yes, I will definetely see this movie. I’m very interested to see how Alex play his part (compared to the role in the original, which I have seen) and to experienced whether Lurie can add a new part or show an new side to the whole topic.
But I must admit; mostly I will watch the movie because of Alexander Skarsgard, of course.:)
Btw I think the trailer is too short to judge the whole movie NOW.

As for the female lead role…well…I must admit, I haven’t had Miss B. on my radar so far (as actress and person) before some rumours begun;)…I haven’t seen any of her movies or better the movies she made in the past haven’t interested me so much…so I cannot judge her ability as an actress til this point…after SD I will know more about that, I guess.

@it’smeagainmargaret: Have you even seen the original Straw Dogs? It doesn’t ‘glorify’ rape. Just because a film shows rape doesn’t mean they are glorifying it. Watch Irreversible, that shows rape, but it shows it to be the horrific act that it is.

It’s not easy to act that, it’s going to be a painful experience for both an audience AND the cast and crew. But I think it’s important for film to not shy away from this, because just like murder, it is apart of what unfortunately occurs in everyday life. And they are some sick sadistic bast**ds in the word who don’t see it as wrong, and even if it’s just one person who sees it in any film and can understand how horrific it actually is, then ITS WORTH IT!

  • Shannon

    @Hmm: I agree. Her playing a tease is laughable. She’s a bony, flat-chested, flat-assed wacktress.

  • http://www.thissillymillie.tumblr.com Millie Followhore

If your going to insult Kate Bosworth, it should be for a better reason than out of your jealous for her relationship with Alexander Skarsgard.

  • Foofa

i think bosworth looks kind of old in the railer. like a dried up golden raisin…..

but james marsden looks so adorable in his harry potter glasses, lol!

  • Canuck

@Millie Followhore: There was a fair amount of controversy over the original film about whether or not “Amy” ended up enjoying what happened to her. I think that’s what the poster you were answering was talking about.

  • Shannon

I think Alex could have done a better accent. It’s very “Eric Northman-esque” and not really southern. He looks delicious, though. And ya, James Marsden looks so cute in glasses :D He was swoon-worthy t in 27 Dresses & really endearing on Chelsea Lately. And I love that he’s all about his family.

  • Shannon

Honestly, I don’t think KBos has the depth for this role. I’ve never seen her emote in a film before, but maybe she was able to pull it off. Based on the trailer, she seems to just be acting like herself. Also, wasn’t she a replacement in this movie? Based on the script & the trailer, it looks like none of these characters have redeeming qualities.

  • Canuck

@Shannon: It’s really hard to do an accent in a language that’s not your own when it’s not the accent you learned. First you have to get rid of your own accent and then get rid of the accent you learned and then adopt another one. Not easy…

  • Cafélady

@it’smeagainmargaret #5 I must contradict you, because I don’t believe that Peckinpah in his movie wanted to glorify the rape of a woman or woman in general. And believe me, I’m none of that persons which doesn’t take this things serious (nor would I deny that rape is a nasty thing, no doubt).
As far as I know he claimed once, that men don’t fight about woman – they are fighting about territories. And in that sense (oh I know it sounds horrible to an feminist, of course, but so it is) in that sense, the woman is an “extension” of that territory. In the original david is an very unsensible, unattentive person with no sense for the “hidden rules” of this small community he and his wife has start to live in. For Peckinpah was interesting; which incidents will bring on the violence or start the circle of violence?
That’s exactly one of the reason’s why I want to see the remake; what’s the point for Lurie? In the case he changed a little of the original, may be this could be interesting to see that (apart of Alex, of course ;) ).
