Michelle Williams: Glinda in Disney's 'Oz'

Michelle Williams will play Glinda, the good witch, in Disney’s upcoming film Oz, the Great and Powerful.

The 30-year-old actress will team up with James Franco, Rachel Weisz, and Mila Kunis in the new film, which will begin filming in July in Michigan, Variety reports.

Sam Raimi (Spider-Man 3) is directing the film and Mitchell Kapner and David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole) wrote the script.

The film may hit the big screen as early as next year – Disney is hoping to have another successful reboot like they had with Alice in Wonderland.

Yet another role Blake Lively has lost out on to someone who can actually act.

As a child I thought Glinda was beautiful. Poor kids can’t grow up thinking the same as me now. Michelle looks like a rotten egg.

congrats to Michelle. I bet she’s taking this role, in part, because it will be filming while Matilda is out of school.

Okay, James Franco AND Mila Kunis, this sounds awesome already. And I don’t see anything wrong with Michelle Williams.. she looks beautiful and I can already see her play Glinda. Can’t wait for this movie.

Blake chose Savages over OZ

Bad hair, bad clothes. And she never seems to improve. She could be very pretty but the frumpy, unattractive clothes and short, mannish haircuts will do nothing to achieve that.

She continues to get attention for acting roles she never deserved and to work with actors like James Franco who should not have to deal with her.
I can’t stand Michelle Williams.

@Crap Actress: What so wrong with Michelle Williams? …..
From what Ive seen of her she is a sweet, talented youg actress. IDK have you seen something different than I have?. Or are you just annoyed by her?.

In another note:
I guess Disney got what they wanted!. Sam Raimi wanted Hilary Swank for that role, but Disney wanted Michelle Williams. Which means the studio wins again. I hate that, as much as I like Williams I think the Director has much more say ( or should have more) about who should act in his movie! The studio only cares about $, but the filmakers are more involved with the picture, they know more about the characters and who is capable of playing thier characters.

No! Ugh, she is NOT Glinda. She doesn’t have the perkiness or the voice. I doubt she could sing those operatic notes that Glinda does in the actual musical. No doubt they’ll just autotune it all.

Boo to her getting it. Real musical stars should’ve been in these roles.
