It is unfortunate that Midnight in Paris, Bloodworth and Hard Breakers are only getting a limited release and that we won’t find out how they would have done commercially if released nationwide. They have interesting casts and it would have been interesting to see how smaller films for the main cast members would do commercially.

I hope this is the last ever Pirates of the Caribbean movie even though the scene after the credits was arrogantly included for yet another sequel to be made. The entire film series has been awful – bloated, overlong, overloaded, overstuffed, pretentious films about a one-note character.

It would be good if Johnny Depp does more dramas and plays more straight and normal characters. However, I don’t expect him to from his poor choices in roles and projects.

i loved the movie!!!! you need to go watch it, it’s worth it.

@Kragen: Yeah, I’m so sick of his quirky characters. He seems to be catering to his annoying tween fanbase.

“ZOMG, JOHNNY DEPP IS SO ORIGINAL!”

It always seems entirely incongruous, (and here I would throw in the complete copia of fallacy synonyms), whenever I see mermaids wearing bikini tops.

How refreshing to see a mermaid in her true splendor, and not merely one in whose depiction has been bowdlerized.

so happy for POTC!

Opening weekend (domestic)
The Curse of the Black Pearl = 46.6 million
Dead Man’s Chest = 135.6 million
At World’s End = 114.7 million
Stranger Tides – 90.1 million
24.6 million less that the last Pirates.
Are some people just tired of Captain Jack?
I know I was tired of him midway through the second film. Will Turner was the only reason I saw the third. And his abscence is why I will not be seeing this one.

The Movie IS epiccccccccccccccc
even if u didnt watch or love the original ones …..
this MOVIE has
Some Original decent Humor
Great action sequence
Many Cool Original Pirates Tricks
decent Plot with satisfying ending
great Acting and Dircting
This IS a Great Movie…..GO SEE IT

Team Jack 4ever they can make billions of them movies as long as jack’s in it, i am there!!!

It was a good film, Jack is a great character.

I have always enjoyed the Pirates of the Caribbean films. They are all watch. Johny Depps character is quorkey, but fun to watch. He plays Sparrow well. I am glad to finally see a Pirates of the Caribbean film that does not focus on Elizabeth Swan and Turner. It is a nice change.

Loved it!!!

No Orlando. No reason to see it.

The movie did really good actually without Orlando and that chick. Go Johnny and Penelope, they had amazing chemistry in that other cartel movie too.

If there’s no Will, there’s no way I will spend a dime on this one.

Mmm..maybe 17 and 19 are the same person, well, who cares..,and who cares about Orlando bloom?!…I don’t care nothing about Orlando or Will, like you want ,if JOHNNY is in the movie I’ll go to see it because he worth it! I have always enjoyed POTC and this more because it has something new..great! And I’m soo happy for Johnny ,he deserves the movie is number one in US and in the whole world too!And this is for hmm N9…..Pirates of the Caribbean 4 collected 346,4 Millions in only 3 DAYS!! And it is the best North American opening of the year!…what do you gonna say about that now?.I think the people want to see Jack Sparrow, and .I want the movie keep on doing well,go Johnny, you are the best ever!

And i’d like all Johnny depp ‘s fans support him in the cinema, come on people ..go to see it ,is awesome!

Johnny used to be a respected actor, but now he is becoming a joke. He has gotten greedy and lazy. He doesn’t bring anything new or fresh anymore, that’s why he is prostituting himself for POTC cash. He doesn’t have to do anything new for Captain jack, he just phones it in.
You can go see all of Johnny’s films, all you want. But not me. He bores me now. And judging from twitter feeds, there’s a whole bunch of people who miss Orlando in this movie. Orlando said no to POTC 4, and is now doing small interesting movies and not the same old cr*p. If Johnny was half the actor he used to be, he wouldl have said no, too.
As for being the best opening of the Summer so far, that’s true. But as far as industry estimates go, it was a very disappointing opening for a POTC film. They only took in 4 million more than Fast Five. That should be worrisome for Disney.

nobody miss orlando than his 30 fans in the world @20 his a nobody who the hell cares he and keira ruined the 2 and the 3 i dont know what are you talking about i didnt read not even one comment saying miss orlando you should be just a orlando fan and you so sad because this loser untalented is not on anymore, and people still love the movie and said was a lot better than the 2 and 3 because orlando was just a backround guy on potc and johnny is the biggest star, eat your hate

@hmm: this is a great number considering now most of movies are really low in box offices and considering the movie was on cinemas just 3 days ago!

You don’t have to be an Orlando fan to miss Will and Elizabeth. Their stories are what kept me interested in the series, too. Jack’s jokes and mannerisms got old really fast. And it isn’t only fans that are saying this, but critics, too.
BTW, all of those numbers for the POTC films were the amounts taken in for their opening weekends. They all had three days to make that money, and this last one is far behind the rest. And that is including the higher ticket prices for 3D, and for movies in general. If the amounts were adjusted for inflation, it would be an even lower opening. People wanted to see the whole crew back, not just Jack, and they voted with their pocketbooks. I’m sure that it will still make money for Disney, but the franchise has lost its heart, and its steam.
