Oprah: Final Episode Airs

Oprah Winfrey signed off from her talk show today (May 25) after 25 years on the air.

“Gratitude is the single greatest treasure I will take with me from this experience,” Oprah, 57, shared. “The opportunity to have done this work, to be embraced by all of you who have watched, is one of the greatest honors any human being could have.”

“I won’t say goodbye,” Oprah added, “I’ll just say, ‘Until we meet again…’”

Check out videos and a recap of Oprah‘s final show over on Oprah.com.

FYI: Oprah is wearing a custom L’Wren Scott coral silk dress with degrade chiffon belt.

    @OPRAH IS A HYPOCRITE Says:

Don’t be such an a$$. She gives to a lot of causes and doesn’t publicize it.
As to why she opened a school in South Africa? She did studies of American kids and asked thousands of them what do you value. Most of them said things like their iPod etc. The kids in Africa said an education. What have you done to make education better for our children here in the states.

She employees between all of her industries well over 5000 people in the states between her magazine, shows, movies and more. She doesn’t outsource her jobs to another country. How many do you employee?

And why should she or any other American aid only America. Americans like yourself and several other posters like the one after you who (poor baby) can’t get over his KFC disappointment-are ungrateful, illiterate, I’m entitled without working to everything brats. Overseas, those of us who do help out with money, labor, aid etc.–at least we feel valued and thanked. I do a ton of volunteer work and rarely has anyone in the US said thank you. Overseas they can’t thank those of us who help out enough. Same goes for donations. I’d love to help out more here in America, but I’m tired of being a doormat while people like you hold your hands out for freebies yet never give anything back in return. Not a thank you, nothing.

So you go Oprah. You follow your heart!

    Brad Pitt and Americans Says:

    @@OPRAH IS A HYPOCRITE:
Oprah has been named the wealthiest woman in america for many years!

She should help another country only after she helps the one who made her. America.

Why did so many people commit suicide after hurricane Katrina?
Brad Pitt tried the best he could to help build homes again.
She waited a very long time until she finally did at least something!
I never heard of her doing anything like what Brad Pitt did.

Don’t you dare put Oprah on a some pedastal and preach to me about her.

Don’t be lazy and not name your reply properly.
Just Jared provided the opportunity for you to reply and not so you can take someone’s user name.

  18. 18
    @Brad Pitt and Americans Says:

(and number 17, I’m not stealing anyone user’s name–I’m speaking to a specific person)

Sorry I’ll preach at you if I want to–especially since you have not bothered along with the other naysayer to even do minimable research on Oprah’s giving. Every small, medium and large vendor she highlighted on her show immediately got more business than they could handle. From cupcake makers to car makers. She brought authors and reading to America and the world and every author she highlighted immediately made a ton of sales.

And maybe before you run off with diarrhea of the mouth and constipation of the brain you and others should make sure you have some facts to back up your idiocy.

These facts are all findable with a simple google search. And by the way, I’m not an Oprah “fan” — I’ve never seen her show. I’ve read about a half dozen issues of her magazine, and I don’t have Cable TV so I can’t watch OWN. However, I do a lot of volunteer work and she is known as a person with a generous heart and wallet among the volunteer community. She gives a lot of small donations that are never heard about, recognized on her show or by anyone media outlet.
And YES OPRAH GIVES TO AMERICA. However, it is her money and she is free to give it to anyone she wants to.

Fact: Oprah initiated a campaign for a national database of child abusers in 1991. In December 1993, President Bill Clinton signed “Oprah’s Bill,” which became the National Child Protection Act, an act establishing a national registry of convicted child abusers.

Fact: Created in 1997 was Oprah’s Angel Network, a campaign focusing on three philanthropic programs: collecting spare change in the “Worlds Largest Piggy Bank” in order to fund scholarships through The Boys and Girls Club of America; volunteering time and funds to build homes for those in need with Habitat for Humanity; and encouraging individuals to create their “own miracle[s]” by making a difference in the lives of others

Fact: In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Oprah asked her viewers to open their hearts—and they did. As of September 2006, donations to the Oprah Angel Network Katrina registry total more than $11 million. Homes have been built in four states—Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama—before the one year anniversary of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.Winfrey also matched her viewers’ donations by personally giving $10 million to the cause.

Fact:Oprah has volunteered her time with other, various charities. Oprah signed a wooden dog bone for an auction that will benefit the Mississippi Animal Rescue League. Oprah also gave 300 members of her audience $1000 each to donate to a charity of their choice. Winfrey helped design and signed a pair of shoes for the Stuart Weitzman charity shoe auction benefiting ovarian cancer awareness and research.

Fact: Oprah is also a big supporter of the Clinton Foundation, which supports many causes including treating HIV and AIDS and fighting climate change. She donates to Project Cuddle, which rescues hundreds of babies from abandonment and abuse every year. She is one of the largest contributors to Free The Children, an organization dedicated to building schools for children in developing countries. Oprah has also auctioned off some of the cars from her collection for charity.

Fact: Oprah has a will that will donate 1 billion dollars to charity.

Fact: The talk-show host donated $40 million dollar to her foundation in support to the women and children program especially education.

    @@Brad Pitt and Americans:
SHE DID JUST MAKE A DONATION LAST WEEK TO ANOTHER
    COUNTRY.

WHERE IS OPRAH WITH REGARD TO THE MANY PEOPLE WHO JUST DIED BECAUSE OF THE TORNADOS LAST WEEK ?

IT WAS ALL OVER THE NEWS!

SHE WILL ONLY HELP WHEN AND WHERE SHE WANTS TO.

SHE PUSHES HER AUDIENCE TO GIVE SO OPRAH DOES NOT HAVE TO GIVE MORE THAN SHE WANTS TO.

    HeyHey Says:

Who are you to dictate what Oprah does with her money-whether its America or any other country, it’s HERS! I hope that you who have so much to say on this matter are some of the most philanthropic and giving people the US has ever seen the way you seem to be barking out orders. She does not OWE you or me ANYTHING! And just FYI, stating that Oprah hasn’t provided aid in the US is a blatant lie!! She’s pushed education here hard, providing scholarships for disadvantaged youth to go to college in addition to preparatory schools around the nation, in particularly schools like the Ron Clark Academy. She helped in the building of homes after Katrina. If you don’t like her-fine, but don’t blatantly lie on the woman!!! Oprah you will be missed!

Really? Anyone who can’t acknowledge that the woman has done good things is simply DENYING facts! Too bad if you don’t like it, it is what is!

proud to be an american? Says:

i am proud to be an american citizen because we have citizens like Oprah. i’m ashamed to be an american when i have to listen to some of you ***** about someone who has dedicated her life to service, education, and has consistently taken responsibility for herself. it’s rather embarrassing guys… if you’re angry at her, i’d bet that in truth, you’re only really angry at yourself. that’s the rule, you know… we judge others when we don’t think highly of ourselves. I think she’s wonderful. And honestly, what i think of her doesn’t really matter. What matters is what she thinks of herself. All this bitching would roll of her like water… because she is stronger than the naysayers. like someone here said, criticize her when you’re doing all the “good” that she is. but my guess is that then, if you were, you wouldn’t judge. because you will have risen to her level and not stayed in the limited consciousness you’re in now. yes, i’m judging you a bit. only because i used to spend too much time judging. i remember it well, it only put me into a cycle of self-hatred. get out of that space, it’s much better on the love side. on the love side you are free. judging and criticizing hurts and causes dis-ease. accepting (yourself) and growing (in yourself) feels great. just sayin…
