Jennifer Garner: Washington, DC for Children's Causes!
Jennifer Garner speaks about early childhood education and improved access to child care at the Capitol Visitor’s Center on Wednesday (June 8) in Washington, D.C.
The 39-year-old actress spoke about educating young people who grow up in poverty at the event.
“You were able to sit in a circle when you got to kindergarten – that is kindergarten readiness,” she said. “It’s being able to get along with your peers. It’s knowing what a rhyme is….my 2-year-old can spout Mother Goose from here to next week. That comes from school,” Jennifer said.
“I am telling you that when you go into a house that the kids are growing up in poverty there is not a book in the house. There is nothing from Playskool. There are no developmental toys and there are exhausted moms who do not have any energy left to get books to their kids, or the money to do it,” Jennifer continued, urging support for Senator Bob Casey‘s latest bills, intended to support children’s causes.
