Gabrielle Giffords Released from Rehabilitation Facility

Gabrielle Giffords has been released from the Texas hospital where she has been undergoing rehabilitation since the January 8 shooting in which she was shot in the head.

The 41-year-old Arizona Representative will soon undergo outpatient treatment, according to a statement by TIRR Memorial Hermann (via CNN).

“We are very excited that she has reached the next phase of her rehabilitation and can begin outpatient treatment,” said Dr. Gerard Francisco, the hospital’s chief medical officer.

Last month, a judge ruled that alleged shooter Jared Lee Loughner is not competent to stand trial. His next court date is in September.

Earlier this week, photos of a recovering Rep. Giffords were posted on her Facebook page.

Can’t believe that your Sarah Palin is still joking around after this drama.

I hope to Gabrielle Giffords a full recovery, and a lot of courage.

Thanks God we don’t have that kind of guns problems in France.

She’s NOT “OUR” Sarah Palin. At least NOT mine. Wish the guillotine was still around, ’cause I’d put her head right in it. Ahhhhh, beautiful France. Wish I was there right now.

She is an American politician and extraordinary woman. Gabrielle Giffords is the third woman in Arizona’s history to be elected to the U.S. Congress and she is currently serving her third term in the United States House of Representatives. I am very proud of this and I hope her treatment goes well.
