OlderHugh Jackman: 'Les Miserables' Star?
Hugh Jackman works up a sweat while going for a run on Thursday (June 16) in New York City.
The day before, the 42-year-old Aussie actor hit the pavement again to keep his body in tip-top shape!
According to MTV, Hugh is reportedly the front-runner to play the role of Jean Valjean in the cinematic remake of the classic musical, Les Miserables.
The King’s Speech‘s Tom Hooper is slated to direct the film.
Deadline is reporting that Paul Bettany has read for the role of Javert, Jean Valjean’s nemesis, and is a top candidate for the part.

Before being a musical “les misérables” is a novel written by Victor Hugo, and apparantly it won’t be an adapation of the musical but the novel.

This movie version will be adapted not only from the Victor Hugo novel but also from the Boublil/Schonberg stage musical!
Hugh Jackman has the acting chops, the singing ability, and the right physicality for the role plus a proven strong screen presence! In this role, he will be drawing on his dramatic talent ( honed in the movies and onstage) and his singing ability demonstrated in various stage musicals ( Sunset Boulevard, Oklahoma!, Carousel, Beauty and the Beast and The Boy from Oz!)
