'Green Lantern' Tops Box Office

'Green Lantern' Tops Box Office

Green Lantern took the top spot at this weekend’s box office, bringing in $53 million in ticket sales.

Second place went to Super 8, which had a solid second week with $20.5 million.

Third place went to the Jim Carrey film Mr. Popper’s Penguins, with $18 million, followed by X-Men: First Class with $11.5 million.

Rounding out the top five was The Hangover Part II, which surpassed the original Hangover‘s income at the box office this weekend!

FYI: Woody Allen‘s Midnight in Paris (starring Rachel McAdams and Owen Wilson) took in $5.1 million in limited release and will likely pass both Vicky Cristina Barcelona and Match Point‘s box office sales.

WHAT DID YOU SEE at the movies this weekend?

saw it last night, boring as hell, and that’s with 3D and a million loud special effects. fake lively is awful, she can only do gossip girl, that’s why she has to show her porn pics for promoting herself. squick!

    Spencer Says:

Yeah, considering this movie was showcased in 3D, which at the theaters cost double what a regular ticket costs, it didn’t do as well as it should. Especially since it cost over 300 million to make.

    @beck:

If you need a celebrity fake or real romance to sell you a movie then you are pathetic.

I want my money back and the two hours of my life I wasted watching this piece of crap!

LEONARDO DiCaprio flirts with a mystery blonde- on a night partying without girlfriend Blake Lively.

Leo, 36, hid under a cap and hood as he larked about with the girl in New York. He then begged photographers to bin the snaps. An onlooker said: “They looked very close.”

Blake was in LA to promote new film Green Lantern which also stars Ryan Reynolds (below).

Inception star Leo got together with Blake, 23, in the French Riviera just days after ending a six-year relationship with Israeli model Bar Refaeli.

Good for Ryan. He can leverage this for the future because he’s a good actor. Take the paycheck and run I say.

There are plenty of great movies that are out including documentaries and foreign flicks for all sorts of tastes. Green Lantern is the NEWest one so people want to see the newest. Just like people stand on line for days for the release of a NEW phone. Yeah there are all sorts of phones out there but the NEWest is what a certain crowd is interested in. They had seen all the other movies already.

You’d be shocked to find out how many people are up on their movie going. They go as soon as the new ones are release. No netflix or cable for them.

Congrats to Blake Lively! See girls you can make it as an actress if you show off your t!ts a week before your movie comes out. -.-

Seriously though I know this movie was a piece of sh!t and I didn’t even go see it. I love Ryan Reynolds and all but not enough to sit through all of that.

Based on all the unflattering posts, I’m predicting this movie will sustain a big drop off in its second week. I ended up seeing Beginners this weekend with Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer, Melanie Laurent and the cutest little Jack Russell. I’d highly recommend it to anyone interested in a good indie film.
