Gerard Butler: Starbucks Stop!

Gerard Butler: Starbucks Stop!

Gerard Butler makes his way back to his car after stopping by Starbucks on Thursday (June 23) in Los Angeles.

The 41-year-old Scottish actor was holding a coffee and newspaper.

The day before, Gerard was spotted heading to Castaway Studios in Beverly Hills after he showed off his toned body and went surfing in the morning.

Gerry was recently asked to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences! The Academy extends invitations to actors who have produced distinguished work in the entertainment field.

FYI: Gerard wore the Alternative Apparel Noonan Polo in Concrete.

    how many does Butler pay to be here every day now?
    Because it’s the 3th times(unless) that JJ writes Butler is a new member of Academy Award

  • niknoks

    The ’3th’ time? Oh Dear….

  • gossiphound

    The Oscar campaign is starting now? Phase I Maintain High Profile from now until Oscar noms are announced? Good news for JJ.

    Wow Jennifer Aniston is a guest on the Actor’s Studio? James [Lipton] is running out of esteemed actors to interview, that’s been clear for the few years.

  • niknoks

    @gossiphound:

    Maintaining a high profile by going to Starbucks? I go there more or less everyday too, I’m not trying to maintain any kind of profile.

  • prairiegirl

    I want him!

  • bloomie

    @carrie: exactly!!! not that I complain about seeing him again haha, but the frequency of his pics is a bit suspicious though :)))

  • GB

    He must go way over his cell minutes his bill must be thru the roof always calling the paps to take his pic every public place he goes, good thing he’s rich

  • delilah

    His movie Shotgun Preacher is supposed to actually be pretty good, but it doesn’t come out until Fall. His hair seems much lighter. Guess it’s for a movie?

    We go for a few weeks with no pictures then suddenly it’s a lot of pictures. I was surprised he got invited to joing the Academy to vote for the Oscars.His movies make money, but there’s not very much good acting in them.

    Butler is OK. He’s not top of my list, but he’s OK.

  • Goo-Goo

    Please Gerard shave that scraggly mess off your face….woo whould want to kiss that?

  • GFW

    Gerry should have way been on Inside The Actors Studio! And on Charlie Rose, which I believe might actually happen with Coriolanus because Ralph is frequent guest, and this is his first debut as director! (fingers crossed)
    |
    Hair might be lightening naturally from the sun, or chlorine if he’s using swimming indoors as part of his fitness regime.
    |
    Love the progression of his mood. From tolerant to f off.
    |
    He’s quite a thinker. Is that his new gift?
    |
    With the release date of Coriolanus set for December, even in limited release, it is a huge deal. Eventually a press junket with start for both. Busy as a bee he will be!

    @delilah:

    Actually, it’s MACHINE Gun Preacher. = )

    He’s a good actor, but hasn’t had a great director to showcase him (except for Zack Snyder).

  • Paisley

    @delilah: Hello Delilah. It’s “Machinegun Preacher” and you are correct about the fall release. But saying that he’s just “okay” as an actor makes me think that you’ve never seen any of his earlier works. Check out “The Jury”, “Dear Frankie” , his 15 minute short “Please” and I think you’ll be surprised to discover that he’s much more gifted an actor than people give him credit for. The more commercial films you’ve seen don’t even begin to scratch the surface of his acting talent. He can be so subtle – conveying emotion through his eyes and facial expressions. think you’ll see a lot of theat in MGP. Have a wonderful day!

  • Lisa

    Ok I love seeing Gerry everyday, but seriously … are these guys up Gerry’s ass lately??? Give the guy a break!

  • hmmmmm

    I’d say the lighter hair is lack of darkening it (thank gawd) and letting it go natural in the sun and surf getting ready to play “Frosty” in Mavericks. I for one like it natural. And, of course, I’m eating up every new photo with glee.
    .
    I hope he conducts himself with a little more restraint this year in Ischia than he did in the two younger years. PIck up some kudos for your acting this year G, not hohos just for the fun of it. I wonder if Alan will be there.

  • GFW

    I’m picking up on not being liked well here. So I’m going to take it as a hint and bow out. I’m not a good fit for these boards, and besides Gerry doesn’t need me. He’s made it on his own merit, talent and devotion to his long-term goals. Cheers!
    ~K

  • Gigi

    Yum!!!

  • Tonto

    Hmmmmm, I wonder. Is he sending a subtle message to the paps with that right handed salute camouflaged in front of his paper? Or perhaps I’m projecting something more than the innocent looking Butler intended? Nah, he wouldn’t think of doing such a thing. :o)

  • Tonto

    sorry, forgot the link to the specific photo I was referring to.

  • Paisley

    @Tonto: Hi Tonto! I know which pic you’re referring to without even checking the link – I though the same thing myself . You never can tell with Gerry – it very well could be! Back in his wilder days he wouldn’t have bothered to disguise it if that’s what he meant to do. That’s part of what I love about him actually. He’s a rebel.

    When I saw that Aniston was on the Actor’s Studio I was LMAO. What is she going to teach those students? How flipping your hair is an art form??? How to keep your name in the tabloids so you can get work??? It seems utterly ridiculous to me personally.

    When actors in the USA are making a publicity run for Oscars their PR peeps will contact photo agencies and let them know where he is expected to be and at what time. Happens all the time in LA. Don’t be surprised if we get another Butler picking his nose photo. :)

    Paisley, Yes, that’s our boy. Rebel without a cause. Impulsive, blatant, rebel. He’s the stuff of many wild imaginations and fantasy. It’s why we’re here ruminating over his photos. May the force be with us….hee hee!……okay back to work and reality.

  • muse

    @Jo: Oh, I’m so waiting for you to post a photo of yourself.
    Butler, a mess? Had your eyes checked recently there Jo baby?
    No talent? You mentioned for an Academy award recently?
    It’s so easy for an ugly, no-talent mess like yourself to anonymously come on an actor’s board and spew. JERK. Does dissing someone better than you make your pathetic little life feel all better?

  • Paisley

    @Jo: Wipe off your glasses there kiddo Gerry’s stunningly handsome, not to mention incredibly fit lately. And NO TALENT? If you’re basing that comment on the big commercial “blockbusters”, don’t. Try watching some of his earlier work. Seriously, Coriolanus is generating Oscar buzz, as is Machinegun Preacher. Have a nice day.

  • Magsie

    How much does The Butler’s people pay this site?

  • carrie

    @niknoks: my english isn’t my native language,i’m french

  • Eve

    I enjoy the daily pics as long as he’s smiling and doesn’t seem to mind.

    I thought PR people lined them up with guest appearances around premiere time? Didn’t know walking down the side walk or changing out of wet clothes in the street was considered good PR! LOL!

  • oldbutnotdead

    @bloomie: I suspect much of it is sudden interest due to the potential Oscar rumbles for MGP, coming out this fall. So the paps have new orders, follow him everywhere even when he is semi-naked and changing out of a wet suit.

    He is very open, they know where he lives, where he goes for coffee. Unlike other celebs, he does not keep a cadre of servants to do everything for him. He is suddenly more high profile since CFDA, Oscar mentions, and introduction to Academy; so the interest has risen.

    Other celebs in his situation are much more reclusive, and surrounded by body guards. He is just a different breed of celeb.

    I have seen him in videos become irritated with the constant presence of paps. He walked to his car with coffee once in a pap vid, they were blocking traffic, and he said if I give you a photo shot, will you leave?

    One lady trying to drive down the street was highly irritated with them. There are some funny and not so funny vids of him being annoyed by the paps, and demonstrating his irritation. Once he was walking at night to a pre-Golden Globes party (I think that is what it was), and there were so many lights on him, he complained he could not see and was going to walk into a post or something; they told him just to follow the light! They are pretty merciless.

    Their job is to know where celebs are at all times. They do not rely on PR calls. They know the homes, the streets and the hang outs.

  • oldbutnotdead

    @GFW: Part of the problem is the inability to determine when you are fn@Tonto: Very likely! That is true, and they deserve it! lol

  • oldbutnotdead

    @carrie: So rudeness comes naturally….

  • kelly

    hubba hubba what a hunk wish i was at that starbucks and i know u gerry haters wont like this post but like i give a rats a@@ freedom of speach right to my opinion!

  • Paisley

    @Manny: Hey Manny I’d love to post the digital auditions link in my journal but thought I should ask you first. Would that be okay with you? I will definitely list you as my source…

  • Paisley

    @kelly: Hi Kelly…no worries. You won’t catch any flak whatsoever from this fellow Gerry fan!

  • GFW

    Not too sure what you’re saying old, but it’s pretty much time to stay off all boards. It’s time. Besides things are boiling cool in his life right now!
    |
    Besides I can talk all I want about Gerry at my blog with others I trust. Readers following my story since 2006. I can speak my mind, how I wish to, clown and joke around, entertain them, and “know” all I want to know. It’s safe. And we know how important feeling safe is for people. I don’t feel that here. Oh well. I can see your tears. LOL Have fun! Gotta go.

  • loli

    He should shave his neck, that will make him look much more young, handsome and clean !!!

  • lira

    He looks ok, he can look better though… he might not give a s***

  • oldbutnotdead

    @GFW: What I started to say and changed my mind, is that part of the problem is distinguishing between fiction, fantasy dreaming and real life in your posts. Once I read your post all the way down, about writing the story (pants nested around his ankles), I realized you were writing fiction, or so it seemed to me?

    The thumbs down come from others, when your interesting and/or amusing fiction becomes an assertion of real life. Generally I do not comment on your posts or thumb them up or down. I save my disagreements with those who use foul or disparaging language.

  • gossiphound

    @Eve: I would recommend doing some reading on the history of Hollywood and how the PR machines have always worked and continue to work. Any bios or biopics of Walter Winchell or Heda Hopper the first true gossip columnists in Hollywood would be very illuminating and good starting point.

    Stanley Tucci does a great job portraying Winchell is this movie
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0149380/ pretty good for a made for TV movie. Good lord does Stanley Tucci have the largest credit list of anyone in Hollywood LOL. Has he been on Inside the Actor’s Studio, LOL.

    If you think Gerry is not part and parcel of any PR strategy, I’d submit that would be naive.

  • Eve

    @gossiphound:

    Winchell and Hopper were journalists, not public relations experts. They thrived off of chance sightings of celebs and interviews. If I was a public relations expert for say, Gerry, and I wanted to promote some exposure for an up coming film, I’d be lining him up for Letterman, Kimmel, Today, etc. Also, if I wanted to use pap involvement, I’d get him seen with some high profile, elite celebs, directors and other important people in the business at a prominent Hollywood hot spot. Doing mundane things other people do every day or having lunch with Fry Guy is rather lack luster in that regard, don’t you think? But, hey, I’m no expert. LOL!

  • Eve

    @GFW:

    Really don’t let it bother you. You have as much right to post here as anybody. Just be prepared for some flack for saying things like “I know stuff”. It’s akin to “baiting” people and we all know that trolls are good at that! LOL!

  • GFW

    Right old, I see your point. But it seems some can say stuff here “baiting” people and it’s fine. I’m not baiting anyone. And I’m not a liar. What I know is what I know. How I choose to share that is my prerogative. My aim is true and everyone who needs to know it, knows it.
    }
    My posts 9 times out of 10 include positive feedback toward his career, him, or some much needed speculative ‘reality’ for some who think he might be in with something he isn’t. Focused on his career now more than ever. And I say that with faith not knowledge. Most take my knowing stuff as I know facts, their my personal knowledge, gut driven, as it has always been.
    }
    But, hey, I’m used to the flack. The hate. The stalking. The teasing for reaction. I’m a duck, buoyant. The thumbs down crap and nonsense is chuckle worthy.
    }
    But in all honestly it is time to back off the boards. Things are different now. He doesn’t need me to defend him, polish his ego, or banter back and forth with disparaging fans. I saw what all posts were deleted on the other thread spoke louder than words. We both got deleted.
    ~K
    back to blogging and being able to speak my mind, as I do, and entertain them not you guys… not that I do… that I “know” LOL But I won’t say completely away… but I can take what’s found here and place it there and it gets read, where here it does not. Hard to explain. Cheers!
