Kings of Leon Documentary: Showtime Premiere!

Back in April, The Kings of Leon premiered their documentary Talihina Sky for a few lucky people during the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival – now’s your chance to watch it in the comfort of your own home!

The docu kicks off at the annual Followill family reunion in the back woods of Talihina, Oklahoma, where the boys return to their roots and unwind with their family. First-time director and Followill friend Stephen C. Mitchell weaves personal home videos, unedited interviews and behind-the-scenes footage of the band’s journey from their small-town beginnings – spent in poverty and touring the Bible Belt with their father, a Pentecostal evangelist minister, and their devout mother – to living the rock star dream.

Fine out more about the Grammy Award-winning band in Talihina Sky: The Story of Kings of Leon, which will premiere on Showtime on Sunday, August 21 at 10 PM ET/PT.

    YAYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so excited!!!!!!

  • JC

The journey that ended with them becoming total sell outs. They had potential at one point.

  • Virgintreasure

wow I hope Lily is not on that documentary

  • Sian

@JC — I don’t think that their music sucks the way it is now, but they’ve come from a very different place, I totally agree. Their style was pretty unique — and now it isn’t.

  • pinkydoo

Honestly..who really cares about them? Sounds egotistical to have them do a doc..

  • JC

The problem isn’t their style, it is their image. They went too Hollywood and are being posted about on Just Jared. At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if they went on tour with Bieber. And what does a band who hasn’t really accomplished anything doing making a documentary about their career like they’re some kind of rock legends.

I wonder if the part where they all banged Miranda Kerr is included.

  • Claudy

Saw it @ Tribeca FF….AMAZING DOCU!!! LOVED IT…and I was no KOL fan watching it…it’s really great.

  • LoriLori

    GREAT!! Love this band

  • Sian

@JC –I see your point but I wouldn’t say they haven’t accomplished anything; their shows have been sold out regularly, haven’t they? I actually wouldn’t mind there being a documentary about them if I was still interested in them, which I’m not. Sure, every band has the prerogative to change but that somehow resulted in there being mostly teenage fangirls at their concerts which is annoying. I think them changing their sound drastically (and the music vids to go with it) played a big part in attracting a different audience, which turned them into ‘celebrities’ and made them interesting for sites like JustJared. And it’s up to them, I just liked them better before.

You really are obsessed, aren’t you?
You talk about her even when it isn’t her thread.
She really does own you, doesn’t she.

  • Halli

Really? It took over 40 years for a documentary of Bob Dylan to occur and these guys feel that their work and influence is so great that a documentary must be made to showcase their genius? LMAO!
