The 62-year-old Oscar winner stars as the former British prime minister, who in 1979 became the first female to hold the position.
The movie, slated for a January 2012 release, revolves around Margaret, “one of the 20th century’s most famous and influential women, [who] came from nowhere to smash through barriers of gender and class to be heard in a male dominated world,” according to its synopsis.

As a Brit, whilst i can appreciate Meryl’s efforts (she is a fine actress) however this does not look accurate at all. It’s more of a caricature of Lady Thatcher. She would never have spoken like that, it’s far too comedic to be taken seriously.
And what’s with all the pouting? Slightly baffled.

No, why would they even want to put this on film is beyond me.
This is a woman who systematically put thousands of people out of jobs(mainly miners), took away communities, reduced families to poverty and now they want to immortalize her on film?
I wont be watching.
This is laughable, they are making a mockery of the whole thing.
I love the fact that she perfectly sticks to the role, I think that’s what a great actress has to have .
I guess that the movie is going to blow some of us out, including me :D

I understand if they want to make a film on M. Thatcher. But saying she was “great as a person and smashes through barriers bla, bla, bla” is another thing.
Under her command, the UK robbed Argentina of the Islands [Malvinas (Falklands)] in its territory. And funny is that people in the islands are starting to get Argentinian green cards, because the Empire has forgotten about them, apparently…
Do not fall for people who offer a partial view on reality.
