Former First Lady Betty Ford: Dead at 93

Betty Ford has died at the age of 93.

Ms. Ford passed away at her bedside surrounded by family, according to CNN.

The former First Lady to President Gerald Ford, who struggled with her own alcohol issues, was the founder of the Betty Ford Center for substance abuse and addiction.

Betty also actively raised awareness to breast cancer following her mastectomy in 1974 and was an active leader in the Feminist Movement.

President Ford passed away in December 2006.

Our deepest condolences go out to Betty‘s family and friends.

    RIP Mrs. Ford.
She was a champion of women’s rights and for compassionate care of the mental ill and those fighting addictions. She was outspoken as a FOTUS & went against her husband’s position by being pro-choice and pro-ERA amendment.

For those women (& men) too young to yet appreciate or know Betty Ford’s contribution to trying to make your life better, know that whether you knew of her deeds or not, she fought for you and your future. One day you’ll miss Betty too.

BTW, Jared, you got another fact wrong, Gerald Ford died in December of 2006 NOT July. His birthday was in July.

I am sure she was IN her bed, and not beside her bed when she died, aren’t you, Jared? Hoping friends and family were the only ones bedside. And I agree with #6, great to see a breast cancer victim lived into her 90′s.
