Betty White Gets Asked to the Marine Corps Ball

Another celeb has received an invite to the Marine Corps Ball!

“I would like to take Betty White. She’s just funny. She’s sweet. She’s mature. She’s the all around perfect woman. I really think that we’d have a good time,” Sgt. Ray Lewis says in a video reaching out to the 89-year-old actress.

“I think I could make her laugh. I think she could make me laugh. I think we could laugh together,” he adds. “It’s gonna be great … it’s going to be me and her at the Marine Corps Ball this year. I know it.”

Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake recently confirmed they’ll also be attending the ball with Sgt. Scott Moore and Corporal Kelsey De Santis respectively after both of the Marines separately made videos extending an invite to the Friends with Benefits co-stars!

im not being mean…and its brave that people in the military are risking their lives for us everyday…but now they are using their occupation as an excuse to meet celebrities…

So asking celebrities to the ball is their thing now? By the way, Betty White >>>> Mila Kunis + Justin TImberlake. I love Mila and Justin but Betty White is… Betty White, so Sgt. Ray Lewis is the coolest of the three marines because he asked her.
And the guy who asked Mila Kunis is probably annoyed now that everybody is copying him… I think. Is this the first time something like this happens?

The first answer is right. One person doing it but now everyone wants to follow suit and its getting boring now. Also what celebrity is really going to decline anyway? They’re being put on the spot!

Hey, since the celebrities are not fighting for us out there in the desert, why not ask them to the ball to bring some good and entertainment to the event. I like this invitation that he is asking Betty White. Not someone like Janet Jackson or Kat Graham or Nicole Scherzinger or Taylor Swift but Betty White!! I have no doubt that everyone attending will have a great time with Betty White!

Not sure if she can make it. She might have a doctor’s appointment on that day….

This is starting to get a little ridiculous now. The first time was cute (Sgt. Moore asking Mila), but now all this copycat stuff is just too much. Do these Marines not have anyone else they actually know to ask to their balls? And what happens if more Marines keep asking celebs and the first one to say, “Sorry, I have to decline” is made to look like an @$$ for turning down a US Marine and looking like a military hater? Not to mention the servicemember that asked is made to look foolish for being turned down. I fully support our military (hell, most of my family members are/have been in the military, going back to the Civil War) but really, quit while you’re ahead and no one has to look bad.

Wow, good for him. I hope she takes him up on his offer. It would be great to give this brave man in uniform a moment like this.

Oh gosh, who cares if he’s copying.. It’s like telling people in your prom they’re a copycat for asking a date. Who cares. He has the right to do what he wants and the fact that he chose someone like Betty White over some hot chick is really amazing.

I met him just a few weeks ago. He really is a very nice guy. I hope that she says yes! So what if others are doing it…as someone said he could have really “copied” by asking out someone that is considered to be cool and attractive. Besides, I think they have different balls, so it is not like they will all be there together.

At least Marines had the guts to do it. I was so surprised to see him on the video since we just met him. We spent the whole time teasing him about how young he looked..at that he was the opposite of Ray Lewis the football player.

Haha who’s next, someone going to ask arnold schwarzenegger to a ball? HAha j/k.

I like that this guy whent and asked someone you wouldn’t think he would. Good for him. Hope he gets to go with her. She’s a LOT of fun.

I don’t think they are using their occupation to get dates to the ball, this is not the first instance where celebs go to events for ordinary people. There have been past cases where celebs are asked to teen proms and other events. I think celebs are saying yes, not because they have to, but because they realize how the US service men and women risk their lives on a daily basis and this is something they can do to pay respect… like all of you should be doing instead of leaving negative comments.

    shailene Says:

@jax33: they sure dont get paid enough so they deserve any celeb meeting they want.

    britt Says:

if u knew thru direct experience how they sacrifice their limbs, lives and so on for low pay and for doing a job you wouldnt have the balls or stamina to do you wouldnt make any negative comments about a military service member.

    baylor Says:

@Lucky Charm: if they dont say no then they wont look bad. or if they cant go, they can have another celeb go in their stead. as far as im concerned, celebs should be asking them to go to celeb events. those celebs should be so lucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn!!! I wish I was in the marines now, so that I could ask Keanu Reeves to the ball. :-)

asking Betty is creative, i guess next one should be a guy asking Neil Patrick Harris or a girl asking Ellen ;-)

Well, Betty White did turn him down, but she’s in her 80s, so nobody’s going to say anything bad about her turning him down. Her reasons for declining his invitation was her work schedule. I have my own opinions about it, but I think I’ll keep those to myself.
