    Why the hell do you comment on every thread if you never have anything good or intelligent to say? Take it somewhere else.

    Alex looks good but tired. Must have been clubbing too hard in Sweden. Good for him though, he deserves the time off. Congrats to him. He looks good, even in that ridiculous hat. LOL!

    As much as I LOVE Alexander Skarsgard… I hate honorary doctorates! All they serve to do is crap on the hard work of people who have actually slugged it out for years completing real work!

    it’s more to do with raising the profile of Leeds Met, they find successful former students to show to potential future students what they can achieve. Everyone knows that an honorary degree is not a real degree

    lord he even looks good in a graduation robe. I thought his speech was perfect — honest and humble and acknowledged the reality of an honorary degree without denigrating it. Well done Alex. Also thought he looked unhappily self conscious while in that hat LOL and so much more comfortable and happy when he could take photos without it, giving that big smile when taking it off. He’s just such a good guy and that shows in this situation. I bet we’ll see a lot of fan pics too from this.

    @dud: honorary degrees just promote the school – not a big honor….

    congratulations alex!! Says:

    While I congratulate alexander on his honorary doctorate and he looked might fine, however it is not fair that celebs or any famous person just gets handed these doctorate’s for doing NOTHING.
    yes it may be bring potential students to the university and it is an excellent way to promote the university
    but most students/ graduates have to work exceptionally hard, blood sweat, exams, stress tears and debt to earn there degrees.
    why ?? should celebs be any different all because there FAMOUS even if it is the the cute and sexy alexander skarsgard who only did 6 months at leeds uni and then again he said all he did was partied and got drunk in an interview a few years back!!

  45. 45
    ladybug Says:

    @Lisa: Well, the odds are that they are not together: No public sightings together in 3 months, when he was in LA and she was in LA he avoided their old hangouts, and during this last 10 days in Sweden, he seems to have been out and about, enjoying himself immensely.

    AbFab Says:

    Academic Alex! YES!! Nice to see some color on him.

  47. 47
    blah Says:

    @congratulations alex!!:
    At least Alex attended the school he got the degree from, compared to many other celebs who even more randomly get honourary degrees with absolutely no connection to the institution they receive it from.

    seeshay Says:

    @Camille: thanks for the links for the photos Camille. Yes, in the one he DOES look like a giant. Is he standing on a step or something maybe? I always love to see him with fans — makes me smile every time. he must be the nicest guy in the world to take that much time on so many different occasions, posing with so many fans. On other news, I am hearing now that Battleship is back to its original release date mid May, didn’t want anyone to be messed up by my earlier posting about them changing it to April. It’s May again. Now we’ll see if it stays there.

    Toots Says:

    @congratulations alex!!:

    I’m happy that he was honored, but I agree with you about the honorary degree thing in general. As long as people keep it in perspective that it’s not the same thing as earning one conventionally, nor should it afford you the same opportunities as a blood, sweat and tears degree, then whatever. Getting a PhD can be excruciatingly hard and I’m somebody who put in 2.5 years on a scientific one until I had to quit to not only save my sanity, but to take care of my family. It was like having a second full-time job on top of the one I already had. Not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure. Most likely a lot easier to do if you are single and don’t have a lot of other obligations, but, if they were really easy to get, everyone would have one. Despite all that, I saw the video of his speech and I thought he was very humble. I’m sure he appreciated the acknowledgement from his old university.

    I do think he’s a handsome guy, but he was looking pretty rough around the edges all dressed up in a nice suit. Alex, GET SOME QUALITY SLEEP SOON and give your liver a chance to recover!

    Camielle as always thank you for the great links, they are truly appreciated.
    Let us leave the dumped anorexic famewhore off his posts, these posts are about him and him alone and his accomplishments, she is so far below his talent and accomplishments, and just the person that he is, that creature doesn’t know what it is like to be like him, you know have friends that are not paid for, respected by all that you work with, there is so much more about him, that she should have never been put into his posts, but she pays JJ and Popsugar, so she was mentioned, it has to stop now, it is over and done with, thank goodness.
    He wised up so should the rest of you that keep bringing that creatures initials onto his posts (unless you are on her payroll and we know you probably are because that is how she spends her money on JJ and Popsugar and her own little posting staff), just stop already.
    If you guys that posted about him not deserving the award, please just listen to his speech, he is so humble and pretty much knows why he is getting it.
    Like someone else posted at least he attended the college, I don’t understand the celebrities that get honoray degress from institutions they never attended.
    Him being so humble and grateful makes me an even bigger fan if that is possible.
    Alex you deserve this plus a lot more. I truly have never been disappointed in one of his films or miniseries or TB, especially this season so far, which truly is his, and I don’t ever expect to be.
