Sam Worthington Covers 'Men's Health UK' September 2011

Sam Worthington is the cover guy for Men’s Health UK‘s September issue, on newsstands now!

Here’s what the 35-year-old Aussie actor had to share:

On not wanting to waste the opportunity he’s been given: “I’m very lucky to be in this position. Why waste the opportunity by doing things half-arsed? Whether that’s mentally preparing or physically preparing, or just giving a crap about the work. Why waste time going to every party in town? That isn’t what I got into this for.”

On betting his life to start again and succeed: “I had a solid career. But I wasn’t happy. So I looked in the mirror and said: ‘F— it. I’m going to sell everything and start again.”

On achieving success at the right time: “If all this had happened to me in my 20s, I could have gone off the rails. But [now] my feet are pretty sturdy on the ground.”

On bulking up to be an action star: “You’re living like a boxer. The training is fast and furious. That means the results come pretty darn quickly.”

On physically training for the first Clash of the Titans: “By the time I finished, I was a tank.”

Hello Photoshop, how are you today ?

  • Madhatter

Yup. They Photoshopped the proportions of his torso (around the stomach area) to make it longer.

  • Pattycake

English actor? WTF?! He’s Australian. Do all accents sound alike to you, JJ?

  • Kate

This is funny considering he hasn’t been looking his best lately. : )

  • Megs

He is AUSTRALIAN! Australians are not the same as the British. Aussie Pride x

  • Tab

    He’s cute for a shorty!

  • random

Well he was born in England and both his parents are English so Jared’s not that far off.

  • Rant Casey

HOLY. PHOTOSHOP. That looks nothing like him, he’s really handsome without the airbrushing @Pattycake: Check your facts before being rude, he was raised in Australia but he IS British.

  • the Truth

photoshop plus add in the fact that he’s even scrawnier than I thought

  • tish

ha-ha, wow that’s photoshop crazy!! We’ve all seen the recent pics (this week) with his little arms and beer gut! Dude, you should actually GO to the gym and not lie about going. If you want to see what a real actor looks like who hits the gym check out Henry Cavill.

“On physically training for the first Clash of the Titans: “By the time I finished, I was a tank.”

That must have been a different movie than the one that came out last year because you Mr. Worthington were in horrible shape for that movie. That’s probably why the director had you fully clothed for the ENTIRE movie.

  • ladyEk

He may have been born in the UK but he moved to Australia as a baby. He’s Australian not English.

  • Natalie

To tish: i think he means that sequel.
