Demi Lovato: 'Elle' Magazine Feature!

Demi Lovato relaxes in a chair for a spread in the September 2011 issue of Elle magazine.

Here is what the 18-year-old entertainer had to share with the mag:

On her problems with tourmate Alex Welch: “I was completely out of line all summer. Just the worst attitude—totally ungrateful… I just felt like she’d betrayed me. That’s the bottom line. When you punch someone on a plane, enough is enough. Right after, I texted my mom and just said, ‘I’m sorry.’ ”

On her breakup with Joe Jonas: “I wouldn’t credit my meltdown to a guy. There was so much other stuff in my life.”

On being bullied as a child: “Those girls never gave me an explanation for why they were bullying me. One of the words they called me was fat. At that age, you think, Oh, so I don’t have friends because I’m fat.”

On being pictured with cutting marks: “I don’t think I would have been ready to talk about [my problems] then, but I could’ve come up with something better than gummy bracelets. Needless to say, that publicist is no longer with us… (pause). I mean, she’s alive.”

there’s absolutely no excuse to assault someone the way she did unless you were attacked first and it’s self defense.
it was not ok when chris brown did it, it’s not ok that she did it.

im really proud of the person she’s become. she’s so open with her issues that its inspiring. and i love how she is admitting to punching that girl, and saying that those reasons for the the cuts on her arms were lies. i really admire her for owning up to her mistakes and trying to overcome them and be a better person. i truely love demi, and i think shes the most real and human of all the young stars out there. plus she can really sing, and the songs she writes are honest and heartfell. a true role model. someone i definitely look up to.

“Needless to say, that publicist is no longer with us…”

You can’t blame the publicist for not being able to hide your self harm. What, did you want her to rat you out?

Demi is so beautiful. I’m so proud of her that she opened up about her problems and got help when she knew she needed it. I love her so much. She is truly so amazing and inspiring.

People really need to stop giving her crap. She is a human being she makes mistakes. All of you that hate on her next time you make a mistake don’t get mad at someone if they give you crap because you are giving it to someone who has been through a lot. No one deserves hate.

@rob You’re really gonna compare her to Chris Brown to Demi Lovato? For real? Ok. I didn’t want to do this but ok. You left me no choice. Chris Brown brutally beat his girlfriend to the point of being unrecogonizable. He not only punched her, but severly bruised her, bit her, kicked her in the stomach and almost strangled Rihanna to death. That’s almost considered attempted murder. And last I checked, he had no medical issues. Demi Lovato is a girl who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder that went untreated for 18 years along with an eating disorder. On top of that she had a friend who was for the most part a “snitch” and ratted her out to mommy and daddy. The cardinal rule of snitching on your girl, and she broke it for a reprieve. For that action she got ONE punch. One punch which didn’t even break skin. Now don’t get me wrong. That’s not an excuse at all and what they both did was wrong. But the degrees of right and wrong are miles apart. You can’t compare brutally beating someone up to the point of being unrecogonizable to a mere bruise that will heal within a day or two. Again I reiterated, it’s not ok that she did that. But at least she has a medical explanation. And as much as I hate to say it, Alex Welch is no angel herself. Just because she was wronged, doesn’t give her the right to sue for an unconstitutional amount. Miss “plastic surgery” and “mental stress” claim? Come on. I can smell the extortion a mile away. In my eyes, neither of them are squeaky clean. At least Demi took the time to better herself. Same for Chris Brown as well. I don’t see a medical explanation for Alex Welch’s thievery.

    Ego Says:

@Amysnow123: Well yeah. It’s called telling a STORY. People tend to do that when they want to help others. Ah doi?!

  23. 23
    Ego Says:

Also is anyone really shocked that she got into a fight a with a snitching Biach who ratted her out and she felt betrayed? A kid with trust issues, bullying issues and add to that a hormonal teenager with untreated bipolar issues? Is anyone really shocked that she got into a fight? She’s a teenager. That’s what teenagers do. They get into fights and sometimes blows are delivered. God hasn’t anyone been highschool?

I’m not saying she should have hit her or that she was right to do so but stuff like this happens. Come on, it’s like were not allowed to be human anymore. Man this country is dumb.
