Beyonce Covers 'InStyle' September 2011

Beyonce sparkles in Dolce&Gabbana on the cover of InStyle magazine’s September 2011 issue.

Here’s what the 29-year-old entertainer had to share with the mag:

On not having regrets after working hard: “I sacrificed so much as a kid and as a teenager. I have no regrets because my job kept me focused. When you’re young – 18 or 19 – you have the energy and drive. That’s the time to work as hard as you can. Now I’m a woman, and because I gave it my all, I can focus on my marriage. I can decide I want to have kids. I can be the mother I want to be and dedicate myself to my children.”

On what she does during her downtime: “In my free time I prefer to do nothing but sit on the couch and watch TV. I have to confess that my guilty pleasure is Jersey Shore.”

On making time for friendship: “I am a girl’s girl. Women who don’t have female friends scare me. I love my friends, and I love sitting with them and listening to their stories.”

A woman’s only friend should be her husband. Anything else, is just asking for trouble.

  • just me

Women who have no friends scare you ….yeah if you are into cat fights and gossips, jealousyness etc,,,,then go have a million girlfriends. I do not and I’m not scary !

I completely agree with you! I prefer not to have girl friends because of all the negative characteristics that most (not all) of them have. I don’t think I’m scary either!

*yawn* boring, never has anything interesting to say, her music all sounds the same (good voice, just too much the same all the time) . I feel like she needs an entire overhaul and likely why her latest album is not doing so well as the others. She should have tried something different, cut her hair and change her looks, put on pants and maybe go acoustic to show off her voice. But nope, she always sounds the same now.

There’s nothing more irritating than women who think there’s something wrong with women who don’t like other women. Some of us don’t like the drama, the backstabbing, the gossip, or the superficiality and vanity that women present. With male friends, there’s no hassle.

  • LadyLover

I’m sorry, but I have to rant about some of the comments I have read from a select group of women (assumably) defending their right to dislike other women and not have any female friends to a group of like-minded women hating women no less is really pretty gross & ironic. Holy smokes, both men & women are fully capable of creating drama in people’s lives, and both sexes have their strongs suits and their weak points.
It’s so strange to me that women in many cases stop having girlfriends of their own once they become a couple and yet in my experience men don’t ditch their friends (and why should they?) I’ve always believed in keeping my friendships strong despite being married because it’s just one more layer of goodness for my life.
If a friend (male or female) gives me cause to create distance in the friendship because they’re being drama queens OR kings, or are breaking the cardinal rules of friendship (for me) then I just deal with that relationship accordingly but I can’t imagine getting my hate on for a whole group of humans that way.
Your self hating confonds me because news flash, if you’re a woman you likely suffer from at least some of our most annoying habits too. I’ve got lots of lady friends but your comments are probably the cattiest thing I’ve seen/heard since high school (admittedly some time ago :)) No wonder you have no friends…you don’t sound like you would be very good friends.
Oh, and obviously I agree with Beyonce…loves me some B.
