    Thank you LLL.

It was well worth the wait. It is very, very good same like his performance. Now to get this out there… everywhere!!
    -
Loved the peaceful look on his face when he comes up out of the water. His heart is in this performance. Sam has to be beaming proud, no way not to.

@Melli and Corlimey, hi ladies good to hear from you.
Melli they posted our pic of Gerry stretched out with those long legs.
He looks so good in this movie and I think Sam’s approval will mean so much to Gerry.
@Manny and Maggie, thanks for your kind words. I appreciate talking to all you ladies of strong character.
To all the ladies and some gents of JJ, have a great Friday♥

  • justsayin’too

Given the right script I think he can do comedy and rom/coms well. The Bounty Hunter and the Awful Truth were pretty bad scripts. I read a lot of scripts and I couldn’t believe he took those roles except for the pay check.

  • Amanda

This is Gerry’s time to really shine. After being a fan for about 9 years it is great to see this man really sink his teeth into this project. This film is all about a man finding redemption and going on a journey of self discovery. I really think this performance will win him an Oscar!

  • Amanda

He deserves success after all his hard work! I am really proud of what he has accomplished and achieved!

  • http://paisley3691.livejournal.com Paisley

Machine Gun Preacher is going to be huge on 2 levels. First, and most important in the larger scheme of things, is that it will shine a really, REALLY big spotlight on the plight of the children of Sudan. Second is that it will shine another spotlight almost as big on the formidable acting skills that Gerry rarely gets a chance to put on display.
    Peace!
    Paisley

  • Amanda

This film is really about the transformation and redemption of the soul. A truly breathtaking film that will transcend many boundaries.

This is the Gerry that I have always known that was there. All those years ago when I saw The Jury, Timeline and Dear Frankie I knew there was a powerhouse performance just waiting to be unleashed.

His performance in this film will shake people up!

  • Amanda

    Yes, I agree Paisley.

It will shine a light in the dark on these horrific issues that occured in Sudan. Plus it will give Gerry the chance to show audiences worldwide the spectrum of his talents. This will be a powerhouse performance, from a powerhouse actor.

  • http://paisley3691.livejournal.com Paisley

@Amanda: Hi Amanda…anybody who has followed Mr. Butler’s career over the years knows that he possesses a whole lot more talent than most people tend to realize from his more commercial roles. Many of those films don’t do him justice the way that the Jury and Dear Frankie do. Timeline as well, although Gerry’s performance was that film’s one saving grace, IMHO…
    Peace!
    Paisley

  • Amanda

The Jury was his best performance. The tears he sheds in that series are real! This performance in MGP will be in a similar emotional state. He is a brilliant actor because he sparks emotional reactions from the audience.

  • Appilonia G. MontiNegro

Wow, I just KNEW IT, KNEW IT, MGP Trailer is great, this is going to be the most talked about and the most contraversial movie of the year, and for good reason! Powerful! I just cant wait to see it. Gerry it’s OSCAR TIME !! WOW, KUDO’S TO YOU GERRY!
    Appilonia G. MontiNegro

  • GFW

Jerad, can we get this trailer positioned top page please? It’s major. He deserves it. What a performance.
    -
Thank you BBB! Going to share that with my loyal readers. Of course their is a Hollywood spin to it! Truth is all that matters. You can’t bargain with it. And trust is the hardest currency. Good news this. All are winners.

    wow , woooooooow !

  • GFW

There’s my girl Amanda! See, my friend, that wasn’t so hard was it? Now get the go in the go for it and sing sweet angel, sing! Do it afraid like Gerry, like Sam, but just do it.

  • Gina Marie

    I’ll be there.

  • Appilonia G. MontiNegro

    @Maggie P.U.:
Maggie P.U. I agree with you. I am so happy, for the cast and Gerry, WOW oh Wow, Gerry is such a great actor and the story, well how awlful and how wonderful at the same time, that Gerry will bring this situation to life. WE ALL WILL FEEL IT. Powerful, this just made my day, I just knew it, felt it and the waiting and wondering , looks like its going to pay off. OSCAR TIME!
    Appilonia G. MontiNegro

  • Amanda

Yes, I agree Paisley. Whilst the commercial performances are wonderful. The real gritty roles are his best ones. I remember when he did that short film opposite Kate Ashfield. He was really mesmerising. Then Dear Frankie was a great one too. His performances in general are brilliant. But the best ones are definately the non commercial ones.

  • GFW

In asking for help, damn that teary-eyed face just chokes me up, he gets it. Sometimes that’s the hardest part. But Sam had to get someplace really bad and felt really down to reach out like that. And Gerry reflects that in this one scene already. It is going to be a powerful performance that will tug at our hearts and leave a lasting impression that Gerry really can act given the right script and vehicle…. and this is just the beginning. I know stuff. LOL

  • GFW

I so love this trailer. I can’t wait to see this. Can anyone? I hope it does well at TIFF too! I’m so excited I can barely contain myself. There are no words to express what my eyes are seeing here with this performance. His acting as Sam is phenomenal. Only wished they showed some of the emotional stuff where (he might have teared up). But his “Help me.” choked me up. He felt that. I could feel it. His teary eyes will haunt me forever. I love this man. I know him so well. He poured his heart into this performance.
    ~K
“Don’t tell me to calm down!” Me neither. ;o) I just loved the way he said this. Perfect. Loved it. Indie films are always the best. They’re works of art, labors of love. They’re meaningful masterpieces each one… this one too.

PS, I’m very happy and proud for everyone and anyone who left their footprints in the dust, sweated, wrung their hands worried, fretted, edited, wrote, re-wrote, paced and teared up bringing this beautiful film and magnificent story to life… putting it out there… it took guts and everyone involved did it afraid… that bad man is still alive… but maybe this will help with that? Dunno… anything is possible.

  • Looker

GFW….. I feel the same way, but you have got goosebumps all over me. You are so excited and I am too. I loved the part where he is sitting on the bed and talking to Lynn ( I guess about going to church) and he says “Lynn, but I don’t have no good shoes”… just breaks my heart…..Can’t wait for this …finally, Hollywood putting out a movie worth seeing….

  • Observing

This is a bit more of a normal, sweet thread. So far anyhow. You girls sound like you are really happy, proud fans. It looks like a good movie and that GB did a really good job. ;)

  • http://paisley3691.livejournal.com Paisley

@Looker: Hi, Looker…I loved that line too. He sounded SO lostwhen he said that.

  • GFW

Hey thanks. I’ve a vested interest in this film and actor. Been championing him for a good spell now. Amanda is a reader. I just urged her out here. Very proud of that. She has been following him way longer than I.
With that said, I have been a passionate faithful shepherd who thinks Gerry deftly will maneuver the film’s action sequences with stealthily menace but his most memorable scenes will be the ones he spills his heart out.
    -
And like I’ve said all along, voices carry.
    -
Snagged this from IMDb where I put up the trailer…”What is refreshing about this is that we don’t get the same formula that has been presented to us in Shooting Dogs, Hotel Rwanda or even The Last King of Scotland where a naive white guy learns about truth in Africa the hard way. Gerry presents himself jaded and guns blazing.”
    -
Hope I get a reply to where she finds him “jaded” as I think the transformation from bad for bad’s sake to bad for good’s sake is done well with a humbleness that exudes a beauty and peace that God does bring into our souls.
    ~K

  • GFW

Loved that line too. Think the script must be awesome.
    -
Lynn lead him through the door but Sam decided to stay. It had to be his decision. He felt that touch only God and bestow on our weary shoulders. Their is an empowerment and self-forgiving Gerry (in the few minutes I’ve seen) that Gerry brings to the role. A peace comes over him. I know that peace. It’s the peace of believers. God doesn’t care what your shoes look like?!
    ~K

  • Amanda

Yes, it really is the start of a series of mindblowing performances from our Scottish lad.

This is his year to shine!!
Loved the MGP trailer..I just lent out my dvd’s to a coworker here at work..she wanted to see Gerard Butler’s best work..
The Jury, Please,a short clip but powerful performance..300 of course and Dear Frankie..

    @GFW:
Hey GFW !, I completely agree with your post #52, 63, 65.70. The Gerry fans are all excited this morning! The Board when I came in had 79 posts on it and within 10 minutes someone removed 10 posts, guess JJ decided to keep watch on the WEIRDO’S….finally. Gerry and the cast should be so very proud. Gerry is just the best, I have been a long time admirer of Gerrys work and keep a watch on his life and keep him in my prayers always. This Trailer just had me weeping and tearing up and then I just felt so overjoyed at the end of that. lol just a crazy emotional moment to see Gerry in the scene when he was begging to get more trucks to help those children. I watched Gerry in Attila for the first time and I have been watching ever since, Beowolf and Gendal,The Jury, The Ugly Truth, Bounty Hunter, 300, all of these and more. Gerrys talent is that he just takes you to another place, makes you feel and believe and that is what I call real talent. I am very happy that MGP will hit the screens here late September. GERRY IS JUST THE BEST, and he KNOWS IT,,,,LOL
    Appilonia G. MontiNegro

  • Enough Already

MGP is going to be magnificent. Can’t wait to see it. So very nice to see so many positive posts on here today!! Hopefully this helps keep away the trolls and Ouija boards! LOL Have a great day JJ friends!!

  • The Noise In The Walls

    I have to add…
Phantom of the Opera..I love that movie and on occassion, will watch it…Something about it,,the music, the costumes and set designs touch my heart..not to mention Gerry’s performance..I truly believe the movie deserved more recognition…

    And then it’s gone….suprise,suprise…NOT. (Still can’t handle it…oh well your probs).LOL.

  • so gullible

Still here Georgia sorry hun you gave it away yesterday if there was any doubt left with anyone.

Back to reality, I think Gerard lost his way after 300 – whether it was bad advice or he just did his own thing or Hollywood did not know what to do with him, who know. In Hollywood you should only do silly fluffy stuff unless your forte is comedy, and it is not in Gerry’s case, but only after you’ve established yourself at the serious stuff or you’ll confuse casting directors and get yourself stuck like Matthew McConaghey in romcom hell after such a promising beginning of his careeer. Don’t sell out for the big paycheques, I don’t see Jeremy Renner rushing to do any romcoms.

Gerry should have been doing the action stuff then when he was younger and in the best shape of his life already. Now if he was hurt after 300 maybe he had no choice. Maybe someday we will understand what the strategy was.

He now seems to be back on track with action movies now coming his way or he’s bringing them to himself with his production company But hold off on any more romcoms in the near future. PTF is a done deal and I think it may play more like a bona fide comedy I am hoping. In any event I think as long as they didn’t go too schmaltzy it could be very huge.

Waiting for the drama/thrillers that aren’t action movies per se in there, like to see Gerry play an all out villain or Play a character unlike any he has played before, something really out of the box or another ambiguous villain/hero again like in LAC. . White Jazz would be the perfect vehicle for the latter. Too bad that appears to be in development limbo.

Be interesting to see how his production company fares over the next year. So far 1 for 1.

  • Put Brooke on Moderate

Why moderate GFW, whose comments have been brilliant, but not the know-nothing hearsay-blabbing careless with peoples privacy attention-seeking Brooke?

  • so gullible

PS I forgot about Mavericks, looking forward to that. A drama I guess in the bio pic sense, different character, different settings so has he done his bio pic quotient for the decade? Attila, Sam Childers and Frosty Hesson. Does King Leonidas count as a biopic?

  • http://deleted Brooke.

    @so gullible
Again I’m not her. You will see that eventually.
    @#85
Careless with who’s privacy?. Oh and BTW I do know something.

Question,Why do you keep saying her name as if you know her?.You don’t,you don’t have a clue who she really is.

I can’t believe Brooke is going to commandeer this really fine thread with her no-nothing say-nothing I know something you don’t attention-seeking fraudulent nonsense? I’m finished here.

  • I’ll Bite

It looks like they took a decent amount of the story to give audiences a taste of what this about – but not too much to give it all away.

GFW – thanks for a nod to the editors ;) It takes a lot of people to make a project a success. A world of difference can be made with the inclusion – or deletion of a single frame. Makes a difference between catching that look of wonder or just an ok scene.

  • common sense

@Put Brooke on Moderate: You have nobody but yourself and a few others to blame for her to stick around here. You feed her so take her with you.

  • Butlerized :D

I thought i had respect for Gerry before which was already a lot but now it just went through the roof!!!! If he don’t get nominated for some type of award for this role then idk what Hollywood is coming too.
