Thank you LLL.
It was well worth the wait. It is very, very good same like his performance. Now to get this out there… everywhere!!
Loved the peaceful look on his face when he comes up out of the water. His heart is in this performance. Sam has to be beaming proud, no way not to.

@Melli and Corlimey, hi ladies good to hear from you.
Melli they posted our pic of Gerry stretched out with those long legs.
He looks so good in this movie and I think Sam’s approval will mean so much to Gerry.
@Manny and Maggie, thanks for your kind words. I appreciate talking to all you ladies of strong character.
To all the ladies and some gents of JJ, have a great Friday‚ô•

Given the right script I think he can do comedy and rom/coms well. The Bounty Hunter and the Awful Truth were pretty bad scripts. I read a lot of scripts and I couldn’t believe he took those roles except for the pay check.

This is Gerry’s time to really shine. After being a fan for about 9 years it is great to see this man really sink his teeth into this project. This film is all about a man finding redemption and going on a journey of self discovery. I really think this performance will win him an Oscar!

He deserves success after all his hard work! I am really proud of what he has accomplished and achieved!

Machine Gun Preacher is going to be huge on 2 levels. First, and most important in the larger scheme of things, is that it will shine a really, REALLY big spotlight on the plight of the children of Sudan. Second is that it will shine another spotlight almost as big on the formidable acting skills that Gerry rarely gets a chance to put on display.

This film is really about the transformation and redemption of the soul. A truly breathtaking film that will transcend many boundaries.

This is the Gerry that I have always known that was there. All those years ago when I saw The Jury, Timeline and Dear Frankie I knew there was a powerhouse performance just waiting to be unleashed.

His performance in this film will shake people up!

Yes, I agree Paisley.

It will shine a light in the dark on these horrific issues that occured in Sudan. Plus it will give Gerry the chance to show audiences worldwide the spectrum of his talents. This will be a powerhouse performance, from a powerhouse actor.

@Amanda: Hi Amanda…anybody who has followed Mr. Butler’s career over the years knows that he possesses a whole lot more talent than most people tend to realize from his more commercial roles. Many of those films don’t do him justice the way that the Jury and Dear Frankie do. Timeline as well, although Gerry’s performance was that film’s one saving grace, IMHO…

The Jury was his best performance. The tears he sheds in that series are real! This performance in MGP will be in a similar emotional state. He is a brilliant actor because he sparks emotional reactions from the audience.

Wow, I just KNEW IT, KNEW IT, MGP Trailer is great, this is going to be the most talked about and the most contraversial movie of the year, and for good reason! Powerful! I just cant wait to see it. Gerry it’s OSCAR TIME !! WOW, KUDO’S TO YOU GERRY!

Jerad, can we get this trailer positioned top page please? It’s major. He deserves it. What a performance.
Thank you BBB! Going to share that with my loyal readers. Of course their is a Hollywood spin to it! Truth is all that matters. You can’t bargain with it. And trust is the hardest currency. Good news this. All are winners.

wow , woooooooow !

There’s my girl Amanda! See, my friend, that wasn’t so hard was it? Now get the go in the go for it and sing sweet angel, sing! Do it afraid like Gerry, like Sam, but just do it.

Gina Marie @ 08/19/2011 at 9:15 am

I’ll be there.

@Maggie P.U.:
Maggie P.U. I agree with you. I am so happy, for the cast and Gerry, WOW oh Wow, Gerry is such a great actor and the story, well how awlful and how wonderful at the same time, that Gerry will bring this situation to life. WE ALL WILL FEEL IT. Powerful, this just made my day, I just knew it, felt it and the waiting and wondering , looks like its going to pay off. OSCAR TIME!
Appilonia G. MontiNegro

Yes, I agree Paisley. Whilst the commercial performances are wonderful. The real gritty roles are his best ones. I remember when he did that short film opposite Kate Ashfield. He was really mesmerising. Then Dear Frankie was a great one too. His performances in general are brilliant. But the best ones are definately the non commercial ones.

In asking for help, damn that teary-eyed face just chokes me up, he gets it. Sometimes that’s the hardest part. But Sam had to get someplace really bad and felt really down to reach out like that. And Gerry reflects that in this one scene already. It is going to be a powerful performance that will tug at our hearts and leave a lasting impression that Gerry really can act given the right script and vehicle…. and this is just the beginning. I know stuff. LOL

I so love this trailer. I can’t wait to see this. Can anyone? I hope it does well at TIFF too! I’m so excited I can barely contain myself. There are no words to express what my eyes are seeing here with this performance. His acting as Sam is phenomenal. Only wished they showed some of the emotional stuff where (he might have teared up). But his “Help me.” choked me up. He felt that. I could feel it. His teary eyes will haunt me forever. I love this man. I know him so well. He poured his heart into this performance.
“Don’t tell me to calm down!” Me neither. ;o) I just loved the way he said this. Perfect. Loved it. Indie films are always the best. They’re works of art, labors of love. They’re meaningful masterpieces each one… this one too.

PS, I’m very happy and proud for everyone and anyone who left their footprints in the dust, sweated, wrung their hands worried, fretted, edited, wrote, re-wrote, paced and teared up bringing this beautiful film and magnificent story to life… putting it out there… it took guts and everyone involved did it afraid… that bad man is still alive… but maybe this will help with that? Dunno… anything is possible.

GFW….. I feel the same way, but you have got goosebumps all over me. You are so excited and I am too. I loved the part where he is sitting on the bed and talking to Lynn ( I guess about going to church) and he says “Lynn, but I don’t have no good shoes”… just breaks my heart…..Can’t wait for this …finally, Hollywood putting out a movie worth seeing….

This is a bit more of a normal, sweet thread. So far anyhow. You girls sound like you are really happy, proud fans. It looks like a good movie and that GB did a really good job. ;)

@Looker: Hi, Looker…I loved that line too. He sounded SO lostwhen he said that.

Hey thanks. I’ve a vested interest in this film and actor. Been championing him for a good spell now. Amanda is a reader. I just urged her out here. Very proud of that. She has been following him way longer than I.
With that said, I have been a passionate faithful shepherd who thinks Gerry deftly will maneuver the film’s action sequences with stealthily menace but his most memorable scenes will be the ones he spills his heart out.
And like I’ve said all along, voices carry.
Snagged this from IMDb where I put up the trailer…”What is refreshing about this is that we don’t get the same formula that has been presented to us in Shooting Dogs, Hotel Rwanda or even The Last King of Scotland where a naive white guy learns about truth in Africa the hard way. Gerry presents himself jaded and guns blazing.”
Hope I get a reply to where she finds him “jaded” as I think the transformation from bad for bad’s sake to bad for good’s sake is done well with a humbleness that exudes a beauty and peace that God does bring into our souls.

Loved that line too. Think the script must be awesome.
Lynn lead him through the door but Sam decided to stay. It had to be his decision. He felt that touch only God and bestow on our weary shoulders. Their is an empowerment and self-forgiving Gerry (in the few minutes I’ve seen) that Gerry brings to the role. A peace comes over him. I know that peace. It’s the peace of believers. God doesn’t care what your shoes look like?!
