The 38-year-old British actress reprises her role as vampire Selene in the fourth installment of the popular franchise.
“I think, like everybody, I … and [husband and director] Len [Wiseman] and most people who are sensible, have a slight allergy to the number four coming after a movie title cause it usually means it’s sh–,” Kate recently told Collider.
“[But] for us, it was really a question of, if you’re going to take these characters – and there are some people who really love them, but I understand it’s not everyone’s cup of tea – in order to make it justifiable to make a movie, you really have to do something different and take it somewhere else,” she added.
Underworld: Awakening, which was shot in 3D, hits theaters January 2012!

Kate Beckinsale + leather pants = Damn fine
Even though they didn’t know at the time, It was wise of them to pick someone like Kate to play a vampire, I’m pretty sure if you compare this trailer to the first Underworld she’ll look exactly the same. And GOD I’m looking forward to this!!
From what i’ve seen i prefer when it’s just Lycan & Vampires but let’s see the movie before ! Thank god Kate Beckinsale is saving us from Kirsten Steward aha ! Between Underworld 4 & TVD Season 3 i’m in heaven !
@jacqueline: Totally agreeing , when i saw the first one , i was like oh Angelina Jolie would have been perfect and + she was still in her dark period with her brother’s blood around her neck haha !

Love Kate’s acting, especially action roles and in Underworld. Would love to see an action movie with Kate Beckinsale and Mila Jovovich(Resident Evil) teamed up together….would be awesome…
THIS is the movie that I have been waiting for. But, I REALLY hope that Speedman is in it, too. Else, they have ignored what pulled people in to the last two movies of the Underworld series. It is ALWAYS a bad idea to cut out a major player in the franchise.
