The 26-year-old Rise of the Planet of the Apes actress stars as “the daughter of an auto rickshaw owner, who finds her life destroyed by a combination of love and circumstances,” according to THR.
“She meets a businessman named Jay who comes to town to work for his father’s business,” the mag adds about the film, which was adapted from Thomas Hardy‘s novel Tess of the d’Urbervilles.
Trishna will have its world premiere early next month at the Toronto International Film Festival.
