OlderCate Blanchett: Interview with 'PBS Newshour'
Cate Blanchett enjoys a brisk walk on Sunday (August 21) in the Georgetown area of Washington, DC.
The 42-year-old Australian actress is currently in the nation’s capitol performing in Uncle Vanya at the Kennedy Center.
Cate and her Uncle Vanya co-star, and fellow Aussie, Richard Roxburgh recently sat down with PBS Newshour anchor Jeff Brown.
“Well, we were…we were asked to apply. And it was the most left-of-field thing that’s ever been asked of us, really,” Cate said of being asked to travel to the Kennedy Center with her husband, writer and director Andrew Upton, to work on the play.
“And we thought, well, if we don’t apply, it will just be cowardice. And then we got the job,” she added.

JJ, would you please, PLEASE! stop it with these annoying adds that drop down at the top of the screen and make everything else on the page drop down, too??????!!!!!!! Plus, when you click on the “Close” button, all they do is open another tab that directs you to the advertiser’s page!!!!!!!!!!! So much for closing the damn ad!!! I don’t mind ads, I realize that’s how you run a blog like this one, but do they have to make everything on the page move down? It’s visually annoying, which cuts down -wayyyy down- on the effectiveness of the ad! Thank you.

An articulate, accomplished, and beautiful woman. Cate Blanchett is not on the cover of every magazine because she chooses not to be. Secure in herself, she has no need of a publicist alerting the media about every trip to the grocery store. Here’s to more articles/interviews with persons of substance rather than the no talent trash that occupies most media outlets.
