Freida Pinto Covers 'Flare' October 2011

Freida Pinto rocks a red Giambattista Valli dress on the cover of Flare‘s October issue.

Here’s what the 26-year-old actress had to share with the Canadian fashion mag:

On her red carpet style: “I look at it as fun. I think it’s terrifying if you’re trying to do something you’re not comfortable with, or trying to channel something you’re not. But if you’re just being true to the kind of clothes you wear, it’s fun.”

On how her life has changed in the past few years: “I have access to certain things that I wouldn’t ever have before. I used to go down to the flea markets and put these things together and take them to my tailor to be fixed up. And now there are other people who do that for me!”

On her bond with boyfriend and Slumdog Millionaire co-star Dev Patel: “There’s no one but him who totally understands what I’ve been through.”

Im a huge fan of freida from India. But sadly most of the Indians hate her due to her Dark skin tone.Yes in India if ur dark u would be considered as ugly.

  • roma

I think she looks stunning , she finally got a cover ,very deserving the naeem khan dress

  • Merry

@Mint: But it is ridiculous. Don’t most Indian people have dark skin? Why hate Freida because of it ?

  • Suganya

@MINT: I Completely agree with you.Indians are jealous of freida’s success. They are can’t digest the fact that a dark skinned girl whom they consider as average looking/ugly is loved by white people whom they worship

  • MINT

@Merry: Even though most of the indians are dark skinned they die to look white.Haven’t you heard about Fair and Lovely?? Its a biggest selling product in India. If u checkout any Indian matrimonial column first thing u would see is “WANT FAIR SKINNED BRIDE”

  • Jasline

    She is unbelievably gorgeous

  • Jessica

yeah I watch a lot of Bollywood movies and the actresses are all fair skinned and Western looking. Freida Pinto would not fit the glamourous mold over there.
It’s sad though, because she’s a beautiful girl. I don’t think she’s average. I’ve seen “average” Indian girls and Freida looks nothing like them!

Btw, it’s thesame deal in the Philippines. The celebrities there are all half breeds and the whiter you are, the “prettier” you become.

  • Laila Khan

@Mint: I don’t think it is fair for you to say everyone in India hates her due to her dark skin. That is not true, there are darker skinned Bollywood actresses (Bipasha Basu).

She is not well like in India, because the perception is she thinks she is too good for Bollywood.

  • ka simply amazing

    she’s sooo average

  • XYZ

They photoshopped her white like hell.

  • camione

i think she is really pretty
regardless of where she is from or what they think of her at home

lets not get too judgmental over Indians wanting fair skin when tan is so fashionable here ! what we don’t have is what is alluring !
