James Marsden Suits Up for 'GQ' September 2011

James Marsden rocks a brown Hickey Freeman suit in this feature for GQ‘s September issue.

The 37-year-old actor also suited up in Club Monaco for the photo shoot.

James told the magazine he made Straw Dogs, his new thriller-drama with Alexander Skarsgard and Kate Bosworth, before his family-friendly flick Hop.

“I needed to do some goofy pratfalls and talk to a rabbit for a few months [after],” he explained.

“There’s plenty of people out there who will say this movie did not need to be remade,” he said, referring to the original 1971 Straw Dogs. “But there are plenty of symphonies out there playing Mozart, you know?”

WHY HAS JAMES NEVER BLOWN UP TO BE A MEGA MOVIE STAR???????? This is the mystery. He should be right up there with Leo, Brad, Johnny, George, Tom, Will, Gerard, etc…..

I mean he has it all! Hollywood has been sleeping at the wheel. We want to see more James Marsden types and less MIchael Cera and Seth Rogan.

I dont think he wants to be a “celebrity”. I think hes a great actor who just likes to act and doesnt really bother with the fame side of it. I think he like lives in Nashville, and just stays out of the spot light off camera.

james is absolutely right about the remake! i wonder why cinema “experts” seem so annoyed and think that a sam peckinpah’s film should be untouchable. Way to go james!!!!

I’m glad to see James doing Straw Dogs. I saw a clip from the movie and he is really intense in it. He’s such a great actor – I don’t get why he hasn’t blown up as a star either. Maybe this will be the performance that puts him over the top. Bosworth’s performance looks good too. Really looking forward to this!

OMG! He looks AMAZING in these photos!!!! I think he’s TOTALLY right about remakes – audiences should be more open to the next generation giving their interpretation of a story. Musicians do it all the time with cover songs and it’s accepted. Why not movies? I can’t wait to see Straw Dogs!

He is incredible, very under-rated, too. He’s not only nice to look at, he’s intense in these trailers. And he has a great sense of humor! Talking to Rabbits for a few months, love it!

I feel bad that James Marsden is attached to Straw Dogs. If it were a decent remake it wouldn’t have stayed on the shelf for 2 years after it was completed. He did Hop AFTER Straw Dogs. It had a successful theater release and is probably on DVD already. Kate Bosworth is a bad actress and the last big movie she starred in was Warrior’s Way which also was shelved 2 years after it was completed. It should have stayed there. It sucked so bad that it only made $12M after costing $45M to make. Straw Dogs must be so bad since Lurie didn’t even try to show it at Cannes, Sundance, Tribeca or any other film festival.

James is my Hollywood Crush Says:

mystery, I agree wholeheartedly. This deserves a bigger career and higher profile- and access the the great scripts. James Marsden ( and Hugh Jackman) are the only true triple threat actors in film today. Leo, Brad, George, Tom, Will, and Gerard, have nothing on James. He is unbelievably sexy, smart , and hilarious ( he was absolutely wonderful in Death and a Funeral and the horrible 27 Dresses ). I would love for him , Jackman, Anne Hathaway, and Amy Adams , all star in a great Hollywood musical. I just adore James’ energy , charisma, and his delicious singing voice.

P.S. Marsden’s Stray Dogs’ remake looks great.

STRAW DOGS “stayed 2 years on the shelf” not because it’s bad, but mainly because Rod Lurie was going through the divorce and SCREEN GEMS was not in a hurry to release the movie and gave him the time to give priorities to his family. happy to know that it’s not always “the show must go on”.
