Katie Holmes Shows Off Her Temporary Tattoo

Katie Holmes holds hands with her adorable daughter Suri while heading into an office building on Friday (August 26) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 32-year-old actress sported a double chain tattoo around her left wrist but the ink isn’t permanent – Katie‘s rep explained the tat was “just for fun.”

Katie recently popped into Sprinkles Cupcakes in L.A. after calling the shop last minute with a “cupcake emergency.”

She picked up four-dozen assorted flavors and sipped a diet soda while they were boxed up, People reports.

FYI: Katie is wearing an H&M skirt.

What about suri’s human rights to decide if and when her pic is taken.

Right on time. Suri is always dragged out on the day Tomkat has a premiere. Katies interview promises that this will be a profoundly boring movie.

  • From the Hollywood Reporter

Oh dear for Katie. The reviews are starting to come in for Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark. Her performance is, shall we say, less than mesmerizing.

From the Hollywood Reporter (a round up) :

While the movie has received mixed reviews, critics have tepid comments regarding Holmes’ performance.

“Holmes is there for a little eye candy and a little stepmothering (the good, not the evil, kind), but frankly, she’s usually more arresting in celebrity magazines than she is on-screen. And the critters — they are much better before we see them. Once you know what Alex, Sally and Kim are up against, the fear gives way to boredom, then frustration when they don’t get the job done,” writes film critic Betsy Sharkey, Los Angeles Times.

“But if you’ve always wondered what the tooth fairies want with all those teeth — or if you just need proof that a terrified Katie Holmes looks not that different from the everyday version — this is the movie for you,” says New York Times reviewer Jeannette Catsoulis.

“Holmes is fine in the film as the de facto stepmother that eventually forms a bond with Sally but Pearce’s character is completely useless,” says Indie Wire.

“Holmes, often fine performers, here stoop to the kind of Amityville Horror acting in which every line gets highlighted and overstated,” says Owen Gleiberman from Entertainment Weekly. “Of course, it’s the kind of cheesy acting you can forgive when a horror film delivers, but Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark grows less suspenseful as it goes on.”

“Adults being mainly an obstacle in this sort of tale, it’s not inappropriate that Pearce and Holmes both offer thin performances,” writes says John DeFore of the Washington Post.

USA Today reviewer Claudia Puig says that the actors didn’t have chemistry together: “Their chemistry is negligible, which wouldn’t matter if the movie was truly scary. But as is, it’s hard to care about the one-dimensional adults involved.”

“Holmes — whose acting is often overwhelmed by her Mrs. Tom Cruise fame — delivers a sensitive performance as Kim gradually builds a tender, hesitant rapport with Sally. Still, there are problems with the characters and story here that the cast can’t fix,” writes Salon’s Andrew O’Hehir.

Okay…so as not to be accused of making false statements (ahem) about who is Suri’s biological father…let me just say…innocently…that Suri sure looks alot like Joshua Jackson. I’m sure it’s just a “coincidence” ;-)

    @#10

The Kennedys was ”supposedly” so bad- yet has scored 10 nominations.
Sections of the media were saying that nobody was buying tickets to see All My Sons which turned out to be the total opposite.
Out of the weekend releases it’s DBAOTD that pundits predict will do best- so let’s just wait and see.
And thank you to Joji for the link about Katie on Charlie Rose.

  • @Joji

Great clip. I guess Charlie Rose isn’t used to her bullsheet stories. She is so full of it.

  • Good Annie
  • DollsFkcer

Seriously JJ that’s a dress not a skirt , and why Katie Holmes is always wearing those shoes ! This is so 2009 , when she was hanging out with the Beckhams and the Smiths at least she was cute and well dress ! I Hope that she gets a great role someday for her carreer because i think she’s a good actress !

  • @annie

Well Annie you kind of forgot to say that the series only garnered 1.3 million viewers for the first episode in the US and viewing dropped considerably for each of the next segments until the last one. And in the UK/Canada the drops were huge. Furthermore by getting Emmy nominations, the Emmy organization made a laughing stock out of itself – kind of like the Golden Globes with their nomination of the Tourist. Most of the other media thought the nominations for The Kennedys were laughable. And Katie’s performance certainly was not highly received by anyone and did not get a nomination.

Furthermore, Katie got lukewarm reviews for AMS. People went to see it for the simple reason that she was Mrs. Tom Cruise. Her acting was savaged in many reviews. And true theater aficionados went for Lithgow and Weist.

And Katie is getting mainly lukewarm reviews for her role in Don’t be Afraid of the Dark. It is projected to make $15 million and come in second to the help. However, early figures show that adults 25 plus are not enjoying it that much, but the under 25 crowd seems to like it. So if the teenies decide it is scary and worth seeing, who knows.

But again, none of this is due to the bad acting on Katie’s part. However, she desperately needs a hit. Bet she is known as box office poison around casting circles and is hired only becuz she is Mrs. TC. With her lack of appeal in the movie market place, w/o being Mrs. TC she would never have gotten this part. You can look up her movie figures on Box Office Mojo. Poison.

  • blah

huh? Katie will never have a hit. She’s too lousy as an actor.

What is that get up she is wearing? And those shoes? Did hubby cut her shoe allowance? Looks like she got them out of a dump.

Her outfit is horrible. very matronly.

Now, the brat wears make up at 5??

I nearly fell out of my chair when I viewed the photos of Suri WALKING!

    yeeeeee hawwwwww

  • Pooter

    @Joji:

anyone noticed how all of the videos of the airhead…show her making the same annoying gestures with her hands….no matter what she is talking about. Same old annoying gestures.

she is so limited….it gives me a headache.

  • @pooter

you are so right! watch the charlie rose video with the sound off. a pretentious phony

  • Gigi

At least she didn’t tell him about the make believe racoon,

  • Lisa

How appropriate that her tattoo is a chain. She IS a salve afterall, of Tom and Scientology. Poor thing!

  • Lisa

I mean’t to say she IS a slave, of course.

  • Romeo

There are tons of pics of her when neither parent is promoting a movie, #7. You then accuse them anyway of using her for publicity.

She’s not in enough movies or expensive movies to be box office poison, #21. The ratings for The Kennedys were great for that network and Holmes’ review in that play weren’t raves but were average. The Emmys made a laughing stock of themselves because they nominated a show that you personally didn’t like?

  • annie

    @ #21

I obviously read very different things to you about how many viewers took in the Kennedys, and it did very well for Reelz channel, and other channels in Canada and the UK.
Sorry , don’t agree about boxoffice poison- she’s done a lot of Indie movies, and she wasn’t the main star in others. The movies that – she was actually the main star did a lot better than the ones which she was just supporting….and those movies had top actors in them.
You seem to forget that you’re talking to a fan from way back, not someone from the last 5 years, who is always on the lookout to put her down at every opportunity

  • @28 and 29

Your love for KH obviously blinds you to reality. Go to BoxOfficeMojo and do the math for her films. Not good. Furthermore studios and producers look at more than just statistics. They look at qualitative information as well. No business exec in film or television likes to read things like “I couldn’t forget I was watching Katie Holmes rather than the character” – both the Kennedys and DBAOTD had professional reviewers saying things along that line.
And Annie I don’t know what stats you read for the Kennedys, but viewership dropped off tremendously in all markets after the first episode. Google it. Wikipedia it. It is there in black and white figures. BIG drops.
And again Annie, it doesn’t matter what she did five years ago. In media it is what you are doing NOW that really counts. Katie’s acting skills fit best with television and don’t translate well to the big screen. Unfortunately Cruise caused a whole lotta hoopla when he jumped on that couch and whether deserved or not, she is tarred with the same brush.
The Huffington Post had a picture survey a month or so ago. It asked you to rate who you thought was the face of Scientology. Do you know who won viewer votes? Not Cruise, not Travolta–but Holmes. And the comments were not kind to her, ignorant comments, but nevertheless they reflect a lot of what the general population “perceives.” She basically dropped everything in her life that was important–family, religion, friends, and joined the cult. Whether true or not that is the perception.
But hey, this gives hope to a lot of folks world wide. You can have mediocre skills and still make it by marrying rich and famous. Katie is at best an average actress, below average dancer, average singer, below average fashion designer, average model, below average Broadway actress…yet by marrying Cruise she has had all these doors opened and she has slid in and taken advantage of every opportunity that has come her way. Yes, it is truly amazing, awesome and magical what marriage to someone famous can do for someone with so little talent.

Figures are now in for Friday’s openings. Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark has been downgraded in revenue predictions to $10 million instead of $15. Also, defying predictions, came in third instead of second. Although Hurricane Irene is being blamed for some of the poor revenue showings for Dark (3.6 mil) , the Help-4.4 mil and Colombiana-3,75 mil (which was predicted originally to be fourth or fifth in the line up)–the theater closures don’t kick in until today (Sat)–so those in the know feel these figures are probably representative of how the movie scene will play out this weekend.

And if you are a Rotten Tomato fan, the reviews aren’t stellar–either professional/top reviewers or viewers. About 56-59 percent of the reviewers and the audience liked it. Not a good ratio to go into the weekend viewing with.

In Katie’s defense the reviewers don’t care for the script or the execution of the script and feel the movie degenerated from what could have been a top notch horror film. Same with the audience. Katie does not have any reviews praising her acting, most are luke warm to warm. But she also doesn’t have any reviews savaging her acting. Pearce on the other hand gets most of the bad acting reviews (wooden, empty acting), while Bailee Madison gets most of the stellar comments.

DBAOTD is a lackluster movie at best. The 1973 version is much better.Katie holmes once again gives a vapid preformance.Kelly is right Fright Night was a better movie. How appropriate that K.H losses her soul at the end of the movie talk about life imitating art!
