Ryan Reynolds & Julia Roberts: 'Fireflies in the Garden' Trailer

Ryan Reynolds lays in the grass in the trailer for his film Fireflies in the Garden, which also stars Julia Roberts.

Synopsis: To an outsider, the Taylors are the very picture of the successful American family: Charles (Willem Dafoe) is a tenured professor on track to become university president, son Michael (Reynolds) is a prolific and well-known romance novelist, daughter Ryne (Shannon Lucio) is poised to enter a prestigious law school, and on the day we are introduced to them, matriarch Lisa (Roberts) will graduate from college—decades after leaving to raise her children. But when a serious accident interrupts the celebration, the far more nuanced reality of this Midwestern family’s history and relationships come to light.

Fireflies in the Garden will hit theaters on October 14! The film was released internationally a few years ago but is just now making it out to the US.

@WBPfan: it’s not like she’ll be in scenes with him, based on what i saw in the trailer, she’s going to die before she gets to see her son as an adult.

The movie is an indie film from 2008.

This film has already been shown on television in Europe…weird that it’s coming out now in the us…it was ok though, a very mature calm movie about forgiving your parents for their mistakes. I kinda liked it.

I would hardly consider Ryan Reynolds as the headliner for this movie. Emma Watson and Julia Roberts? Please!

@tara:

Agree. An intelligent, contemplative movie worth watching.

Indie move… Came out 3/4 years back. Good-ish if you like slow indie movies. I personally liked it.

Weird it’s coming out in the US now. For once we (non American residents) have watched it WAY before. :)

@Coral Reef: EMILY Watson, not Emma Watson. Not to mention, he’s the lead in the film.

Anyway, I saw this film months ago in the UK. Some good performances, but the film itself was not very good. Is it really getting released now in the US? Odd.

2008 movie, been showing on tv in UK for ages. Don’t give away your money, I turned it off after half an hour, didn’t want to waste any more of my time….it’s one big yawn.

Why do they keep trying to convince us that this guy has star quality and talent?

Looks interesting. Too bad Julia Roberts is in it :(

Huh? I saw this movie several years ago. Why is it coming out now?

@Perpetua: Who is trying to convince you? This thing about ‘ramming him down our throats’ is silly and unfair. Live and let live. He’s very good in this film, which is quite good.

That movie was in theatres in Europe about three years ago!

Julia Roberts is disgusting.

It’s amazing to me that Julia still has a career , She is ALWAYS the same old thing in every movie… The fact that woman has an Oscar baffles me.

I saw this a while ago. I didn’t like it.

Soooooooooooo weird that it’s coming out in the US now when this movie came out 3 years ago!
Something’s not right about this ’cause I saw premiere pictures from the premiere of this movie!

Why is it coming outo now? I saw this film a few years ago, download it from the internet. And i live in Brazil. That’s weird.

I have the DVD of this movie.Ryan it’s amazing!

Nobody is trying to push Ryan Reynolds down your throat. the writer, Dennis Lee wanted to tell his story and he chose Ryan to play him. the same as John August did in the “Nines”. It is a shame that when you see him in a movie you feel like you being forced to watch him. If that is that how you feel about any movie you see. How could you ever enjoy any film. the story was slow, but he is good actor.

This movie came out in 2007, Why they chose to release it in theaters is beyond me. Ryan Reynolds is a decent actor and he is always a bright spot in a bad movie. The only movie he can take credit for personally because he was the ONLY actor in the film was “Buried” It was critically acclaimed, but never pasted a limited release. all the other movies have a whole cast of people. So give credit where it is do.
