    I like Sandra and Ryan but I hope that they don’t allow their friendship to be compromised by their newly found business partnership. I know friends who went into business together and it didn’t end that well. I think Ryan and Sandra have a great friendship and I actually think they’d be a great couple, but this newly found business partnership kind of makes me scared that they could potentially damage their relationship, in general…

    Ugh. I don’t get what all the fuss is about with this guy. He just seems to have zero substance. I’m a fellow Canadian of his, but not an automatic fan because of it. I just don’t get his appeal.

    I don’t get his appeal either. He doesn’t look that great in these photos.

    loserbunny, i agree.

    I don’t think you should mix business with friendship. If their business partnership is not successful and they lose money, they will be upset with each other. I don’t know whose great idea this was (probably Ryan’s) but it’s a bad one.

    @Terri,
    I think a lot of people go into business with their friends primarly because they trust them hence Ryan and Sandra’s long-term friendship. However, working together as a team requires people to put their emotions aside when times get difficult. That’s the most challenging aspect to navigate when coworkers (or co-owners) already have a pre-existing relationship. Even if they have a similar personality or work style when difficulties arise it’s hard not to lash out at your friends or loved ones. I think there’s this assumption that your friend or loved one will be a mind reader or assume certain things were plainly understood by the other. That’s almost impossible. The “work” environment requires things to be stated clearly and efficiently to all parties involved without the undue burden of interpersonal relationships getting in the way of creating the product.
    Who knows? They’ve worked together before and they clearly feel that it’s a non-issue, but I think being co-workers is easier than being co-producers, etc. I’m wishing them the best, in any case :-)
