Rooney Mara: 'Tanner Hall' Premiere!

Rooney Mara arrives at the premiere of her new movie, Tanner Hall, on Tuesday (September 6) at the Vista Theatre in Los Angeles.

The 26-year-old actress was joined at the red carpet event by her sister, actress Kate Mara, and co-star Shawn Pyfrom.

Rooney‘s Girl with a Dragon Tattoo cast mate, Stellan Skarsgard, recently told E! Online that she’s “doing a great job.”

“Obviously, [director David] Fincher wanted to go with someone even younger than the Swedish version. He wanted someone more vulnerable, more androgynous and I think it pays off,” he shared.

FYI: Kate is wearing a dress, clutch, and sandals all by Prada. Rooney wore Brian Atwood‘s nude patent leather “Drama” pumps.

    Kate Mara is really gorgeous.
It is unfortunate that Tanner Hall is only getting a limited release and we won’t find out how it would have done commercially if released nationwide. No one will see this film but everyone will see Rooney Mara’s next film in December.

  • Rebbie

Rooney Mara is frighteningly thin. Is she ill?

  • a

@Rebbie: I think she lost weight for the Dragon Tattoo role. The character is supposed to be anorexic-looking.

  • 2Z

Rooney is overrated. And yes, I’ve seen Social Network, A Nightmare on Elm Street and Youth in Revolt. 3 strikes you’re out.

  • I need a thesaurus

Rooney Mara was a great casting choice for GWDT! As hard as they try, they couldn’t really make her attractive…

  • Tina

Can’t wait to see GWTDT. I think Rooney is going to be a good Lisbeth.

  • Creed

im sorry but Ive always viewed Lisbeth as more strong than vulnerable and everyone Ive spoke with says the same thing. I think lisbeth is gonna end up looking like an emo highschool poser.
Ill wait for the reviews for the movie before I decide to see it or not. However I still have a hard time understanding why another version was necessary.

  • Creed

PS. I am aware of ALL of David Finchers work. Hes an Excellent director, just dont think the timing was very good.

  • Tina

Lisbeth is too complicated a character to be categorized. She is strong, but also vulnerable (amongst other things) and uses violence as a defense mechanism. But somewhat understandably after what her character went through.

  • Shannon

I think Rooney Mara is hot. Very unique looking and I look forward to seeing her play Lisbeth. Perfect casting. I think she’s a much better choose than Kristen Stewart.

  • Hill

Kristen Stewart was never up for the role of Lisbeth. She was filming Breaking Dawn during TGWTDT filming. Sony wanted it out in 2012, before the hype die down. This means filming in 2010/2011. But Twilight was still in production until June 2011.

  • Lilod

    I LOVE ROONEY!

  • Marieme

It’s so hard to believe this is the same girl from TSN. But she stood out in that movie as a fierce talent. I’m so excited to see what she does in DT and well after that!

  • Mel

I can’t wait to see Tanner Hall, but not The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, I love the swedish version too much. I wish they would stop comparing them and why they even had to make an american version of it is beyond me. Can’t anyone read subtitles anymore?
