Penelope Cruz Shoots 'Venuto Al Mondo' in Sarajevo

Penelope Cruz walks around the set of her new flim, Venuto al Mondo, on Monday (September 12) in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The 37-year-old Spanish actress, who’s in town with husband Javier Bardem and their son Leo, shot some scenes at the airport where security was reportedly very tight.

In the film, Penelope plays Gemma, a single mother who accompanies her teenage son to Sarajevo, the hometown of his father who was killed during the Bosnian war.

Production on the film started in a downtown district of Sarajevo, “once the front line in the war between Serbs and Muslims,” Fox News reported.

That’s pretty neat that Penelope is doing a film there. The subject hits home a little bit for me. I grew up with a TON of kids who emigrated from Bosnia so I often heard the horror stories about what happened.
