Gerard Butler Explains His Drastic Weight Loss

Gerard Butler Explains His Drastic Weight Loss

Gerard Butler lands at LAX Airport after flying in from NYC on Thursday (September 15) in Los Angeles.

The 41-year-old Scottish star was in the Big Apple to promote his new movies, Coriolanus and Machine Gun Preacher.

Gerry also attended the Diesel Black Gold show where he chatted with Us Weekly about his recent weight loss.

“I ate my last meal in October and I run about 40 miles a day,” he joked. “It’s just doing a lot of cardio and extremely watching what I eat. I stopped lifting big weights and I’m doing yoga.”

“If I wear a long shirt, everyone says, ‘Oh my, God! He lost so much weight.’ But this is how I look,” he added. “I just used to be a lot bigger. But now I’m surfing. I’m doing a surf movie so I have to slim down. I don’t know … maybe I’m sick or something!”

FYI: Gerard is wearing a Rogue plaid shirt and dark olive jacket.

    @T.: NOW JJ actually starts moderating threads, very interesting.

    Sorry but the remarks that fans are insisting are just jokes still indicated that GB is still the immature frat boy or needs to pretend he is. A man secure in himself doesn’t need to necessarily talk down to Howard’s juvenile level and while he evaded many questions well he still needed to seem like another one of the “cool” guys. Which is fine makes for an interesting interview which reveals more than one would think.

    Let’s face it when it comes to women Howard’s attitudes are juvenile because he was the high school geek who didn’t get the chicks until he got famous and the reason is he is such a success is he does speak to the attitudes of many men, maybe most if they were all honest and some women as well.

    I don’t mind Stern but only in very small doses.

  • Withmyowneyes

    Came across Gerard Butler at a few functions recently. The ladies were throwing themselves at him. He’s nice looking, but crude when it comes to picking up the ladies. Guess he figures he doesn’t have to be polite because he knows the long haired, short skirted lovelies are after his money and the fame. He really really loves all the attention he gets, more so than acting I think. He’s not taken seriously as an actor by most critics  because he gives off the image of being immature and only in it for the money, fame and women. After seeing him in action. He’s definitely a hardcore  player.  Some would describe him as a bit of a c**k. But it’s hilarious to watch him put the moves on the ladies. Think the crude womaniser is the best role he’s ever likely to play.

  • T.

    @Withmyowneyes:

    Yikes. Well, I really could care less what the guy does with his time. Wouldn’t want anyone to get hurt, but every woman should know by now what they are in for with him.

    @ psychoB: Some of the comments are so stupid and infantile that you have to laugh though. Noone on this site knows what the other posters look like, how old they are, what their lives are like, etc. This is just entertainment. It’s a gossip site. Oh wait…. don’t look on the last thread where I got all defensive and worked up about the treatment of women. :-)

    And truthiness… I agree.

    Ok, back to the grind. Work is so stagnant right now, ready for it to pick back up. Great day everyone. :-)

  • GFW

    A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself. Is this Sam or Gerry or both?
    -
    With that said…@152, Eek! Such horror! Single handsome rich funny intelligent actor who just admitted to being (what he said on Howard’s show) flirts taking advantage of a certain kind of woman who tosses themselves at him?! Shocking!! My guess is you were not one of them but secretly wished you were so bring this in to stir the pot? LOL
    ~K
    who thinks after Friday he will be… taken seriously as an actor that is… as flirt and rouge… that’s his right until such time he’s not that into it again

  • T.

    @GFW:

    “My guess is you were not one of them but secretly wished you were so bring this in to stir the pot?”.

    Holy cow. GFW, you will never be one of them either, so give it up. pleaseandthankyou.

    And don’t bother, I don’t WANT to be one of them.

  • Withmeowneyes

    I’m not into throwing myself at movie stars. I like my job too much. But maybe you are GFW, hence your predictable, insecure female catty remake.

  • truthiness

    Well it is just that what Withmyowneyes reports confirms what more objective people as in non-fans and contradicts the Gerry has a beautiful soul contingent and I think you can find hints of it when Gerry was younger and pre fame quite frankly. A number of classmates and some ex girlfriends didn’t have the highest opinion of him either. He had an arrogance about him from the get go but the reality is you need a strong ego to make it in the movie business, to state the obvious and cliche.

    I imagine the fame has just reinforced his attitude towards the disposable women. He does “seem” to be good to other women, good friends, family and such but then so are most men, most of us are like that, we all have a core group of people that we treat well even if we are self absorbed jerks.

    The fans of his talent keep hoping he is not in it for just the money, fame and easy sex. One shudders to think of which movies he passed up to do Bounty Hunter. And this year we are being rewarded. Regardless of how the movies do I for one am satisfied he’s pushed himself as an actor in the right direction. Now will it continue?

    If some people got from the Stern interview the perception that he is concerned the womanizer perception hurts his career ergo he is finally acknowledging that yet are we seeing any real change in his public behaviour or is that his PR machine again that sometimes seems to work at cross purposes to what GB says he wants.

    You wonder if GB the actor is acting 24-7. Is the sweet guy the act or the womanizer an act or are they both an act or are they both really him? Makes him intriguing for sure.

  • GFW

    @155 Give up? Give up what? Do you think he reads here? Hell no! Takes more than support on a gossip site to get this man’s attention… but words do have power. ;o)
    -
    Oh, and yeah right– NO you don’t want to be one of them. That’s why you’ve given your personal stats here? That’s why you’ve reported how you like sex? ;oP
    @156, No, no throwing myself at him here, or anywhere. I don’t chase men.
    -
    ;o) Ha-ha-ha nailed ya didn’t I? Why else report back? No new news was it? *giggles*
    ~K
    who thinks Gerry’s rolling with it right about now… and why not since he’s a real hot property with all this attention, that he loves, so those out there are really trying with what they think’ll do it, but nope because there is far more to this man than meets eye and obviously can have all the masculine free and easy enjoyment he wants

  • truthiness

    @Withmyowneyes: I almost think with some men, famous men [to be fair I imagine famous women, the diva types do the same to men, see Naomi Campbell] they treat women so horribly because they want to see how horrible they can be and the woman is still stupid enough or ambitious enough to keep chasing after them or put up with it. Naturally if you have no respect for yourself neither is the famous man or woman. And many men love to play games like that and I suspect a certain Scottish actor likes to play games like that, remember violin girl. That had to a bet.

    Most of us by a certain age however figure game playing and such is a waste of precious time, we would rather spend time with people we really want to spend time with especially as your life gets busier and busier.

  • T.

    Honestly I would have never known that much about his ways with women if it weren’t for coming upon this site and Celebitchy. Like I said before, I will still watch his movies. There have been some of his movies that I have seen (I have not seen them) that I do not care for and some in which it was a good script and his acting was very good.

    But by far, the most outrageous comments I have ever seen are on these GB threads.

    Okay, I am really going back to work now.

  • T.

    Ummmm GFW, sorry to break it to you, but I actually have some sanity here and don’t believe that Gerard Butler comes on this site. I was just defending the European/ American argument that was taking place. And also, those weren’t my stats. It was just my height and weight again defending that Jack does not know what the women look like on here, so he should shut it. And so should you.

  • T.

    @GFW:

    And one more thing. Please, you are a psychotic fangirl. And everyone on here knows it. It’s obvious that you would chase Gerard Butler down in the street if you ever saw him. You are probably outside of his house right this minute. You should really be careful about who you insult. Okay, done arguing with crazy.

  • GFW

    @161 1) Yes you do… and you were pimping yourself; 2) Yeah right, tell me another one. ;o) Nope, you didn’t need to say that, why? You were boasting to be, cough, tall enough and YOUNG enough and thin enough? Whatever, you were addressing yourself and exposing yourself (best you can) for (his) attention. Admit it. Honesty is our most valued characteristic with men.
    -
    Do you actually think Gerry needs to troll gossip sites for women? You’re as bad as GALS feeding their posters that Gerry would be best suited with a “fan”! LOL
    ~K
    For Gerry (waves) For your acceptance speech…”As an actor, I feel at once proud and humble at the thought of the illustrious figures that have preceded me here to receive the greatest of all honors, this (fill in the black award).” I believe anything can happen. And that this film and his humble attitude toward taking the part for “pennies on the dollar” to get it made will become what it needs to become…. I have faith and believe in his talent :o) that is now, just now, taking his career in a new direction… UP

  • T.

    Crazy woman…..I am happily married. You are insane.

  • GFW

    @#164, oh NOW you are. Sorry, lady… you got nailed… and you know it. As for the “happily married” women hanging out for days, and nights on end, on a Gerard Butler gossip site? Just how “happy” are you?
    ~K
    who is used to being called names :oP … as for chasing Gerry, lol, if you only knew… oh, and had the chance to see him film and didn’t so :oP to that too!

  • T.

    I’m not on here every day and every night. And yes, very happily married, hence the loving dirty s*x comment. Dirty s*x WITH MY HUSBAND. I have been married for 3 years. Together for 10. Also trying to make a point that American women are just as sexual as Euro’s. I see now that you saw that and also me telling off Jack in the way that I did as a threat. I feel sorry for you. I have to go now, I know I p*ssed you off by saying you will never be one of Butler’s girls, but I can’t help that. I can’t believe I keep arguing with you, jesus. Goodbye now.

    P.S. You need serious help.

  • PsychoB

    @T.: Unfortunately these are the kind of people that are attracted to Gerry Butler. And as much as the fans don’t want to admit it, it all stems from Gerry. Gerry treats the women he sleeps with like trash, hence his fans treat them like trash also. But ironically as they are trashing the women for using Gerry they don’t realize that the kind of women Gerry attracts are just mirrors of him. So when they say the women are fame wh0res and obsessed with fame, well Gerry must be too.

    And when we get mor0ns that say that men only want model types, than don’t mind the laughing when the model types take all their money and find a richer younger man because obviously they are just as shallow.

    GFW has real psychological issues. Best to ignore most of the time

  • realitycheck

    I hate to break it to some of you, but I’ve watched GB check out women and he checks out shorter women too. If they have the right shape, hair, eyes and mouth, he isn’t picky. Believe me on that one.

  • Truth

    I have yet to read or hear someone who has actually spent intimate time with Butler complain that he treated her like trash. I think too many people are making assumptions when it comes to Butlers s3x life. I have not read or hear anyone from his past or present say the he treats or treated them in a disposable manner.
    This is all speculation from his “fans” and the media. If he truly treated woman like trash he would have the hardest time ever getting women. The only thing he is actually accused of is being a playboy, which he himself has said numerous of times that it is not true.
    The man himself has said he cannot stand near a woman or talk to a woman without speculation that he trying to sleep with her or that he has taken her home later that night. No one has the time nor energy to bang as many women that the media tries to say that Butler has. It is really sad that people buy into this madness.
    I will say that some of it is brought on by Butler himself with his need to be silly and facetious during interviews. But to take everything said and read at face value is very gullible don’t ya think???

  • T.

    Well, I am definitely on here a lot lately, I will give GFW that one. I have been as bored as all h*ll with the hubby out of town and work being so slow. But yes, you are right. Best to ignore.

    Also, my comment above, “there have been some of his movies that I have seen (I have not seen them) that I do not care for and some in which it was a good script and his acting was very good.” I meant (I have not seem them ALL).

  • T.

    I’m just speaking in general.

  • curious cat

    OK, this thread has worn threadbare, but I feel compelled to make one more comment. The idea was fomenting when I watched the Stern interview. My first thought was why would GB go on Stern’s show when he has two serious movies coming out? He and certainly his whole team know who Stern is and what he does.
    Mabe this was a calculated move .Maybe they didn’t expect Stern to talk about MGP. They knew where Stern would go and maybe GB was led right where he wanted to go so he could DENY all the rumors of affairs with various co-stars and try to start cleaning up his image. They can get other people to talk about the movie. Just a thought.
    Some interesting and diverse opinions here!

  • curious cat

    @T.:

    It’s a waste of time to get into arguments here with certain folks. Not that I haven’t done it on occasion. But it’s best to ignore personal attacks. It’s true, nobody really knows who anyone else is here and the attacks are ludicrous. I hope you are back at work.

  • nasty

    @realitycheck: “…If they have the right shape, hair, eyes and mouth, he isn’t picky. Believe me on that one.”
    If they have a pulse, he’s on it. I predict it will get a whole lot worse.

  • GFW

    No worries they’ll be a new thread soon. With that said, The Academy looks for transformations and humility. Gerry did both. Right now he needs to keep the focus on Sam, Sam’s mission, the children, the children, the children. Maybe run his (Sam’s) website by viewers when asked what can they do? But Gerry, if you saw his rooftop interview, needs to keep the focus off him and on the movie, the process, the meaning for doing it. How he was called… maybe he was? He didn’t do it for the money. I just love that about him, all his movies have messages.

    @curious cat:

    “I hope you are back at work”. I am, but not really (mentally). haha Things will pick up the more health care reform comes into play (won’t bore you with specifics).

  • LLL

    I think some posters may have not been familiar with Howard Stern’s MO. The Gerard Butler interview may have been a shock to their systems…oh yeah, that is what HS does. Howard Stern was fined by FCC for indecent material when he was doing FM radio syndication. HS signed with Sirius so he would have more freedom. So yes…Gerard Butler and company knew what to expect. That is an interesting theory curious cat has in post #175. But if that is the strategy, it really wouldn’t be heard by a large audience on Howard Stern. It will be curious to see if the strategy is brought over to the late night talk shows where there is a wider audience for his pronouncement of denial.

  • May God Bless yoou all!

    @Withmeowneyes:

    Does this mean you work in the film industry? Is that how you ran into Butler on recent occasions?Not to pry into your business, but I’m always interested in people who genuinely seem to have a ringside seat.

  • Wondering

    Do we have posters who are talking with themselves again?

  • GFW

    My local paper has MGP as an Editor’s Pick with 3 out of 4 stars… here is a review by someone, possibly a local fan (family) who saw it giving it 4 stars!
    “I saw this film on Aug. 18 with the real machine gun preacher, Sam Childers, & his family & friends in PA. All the people I asked said that Gerard Butler did a great job of portraying Sam as he was in those days. There were strong performances all around, especially Michael Shannon as Sam’s friend Donny. You can see how Sam had hit rock bottom & that his subsequent actions saved both his soul as well as hundreds of innocent, ravaged children in southern Sudan & northern Uganda. This is a well-told & accurate depiction of the atrocities still occurring in that region today, and how one man who went from crazy bad to crazy good is doing something to alleviate the pain, hunger & thirst being suffered by these people, both kids & adults.”
    ~K
    who is proud of Gerry!!

  • curious cat

    @LLL:

    Good point. Not a wide audience. But why would GB bother going on Stern at all? It seems like a poor and strange use of promotion time unless there was some reason in someone’s head. It doesn’t mean the reason was good. And no, it is clear that non-Americans mostly don’t know Stern. Has GB ever been on his show before? If he has, I never saw it. But I miss a lot.

    @192, my thoughts on HS are at the thread the day after the show aired.

    My guess is he thought he might get grilled, and could handle it and did, but wasn’t expecting to be put on emotional trial or have such lousy research shock him, that he handled well (after he crawled up in a corner of the plane toilet after he left town ASAP) that maybe, just maybe he’d get more than 30 seconds about his film?? Dunno, just a guess.

She is deeply disturbed, and becomes more and more confrontational, until she has some sort of psychotic break – disappearing for a bit, maybe until her meds kick back in. Best not to give her any attention or response – that’s her reason for being here. I’ll say no more about her. Just ignore her.
