Johnny Depp as 'Dark Shadows' Vampire - Sneak Peek!

Check out Johnny Depp in character as vampire Barnabas Collins in his upcoming movie Dark Shadows!

EW got a sneak peek of the entire cast, which also includes Helena Bonham Carter, Chloe Moretz, Eva Green, Gulliver McGrath, Bella Heathcote, Ray Shirley, Jackie Earle Haley, Jonny Lee Miller, and Michelle Pfeiffer.

“I do remember, very vividly, practically sprinting home from school in the afternoon to see Jonathan Frid play Barnabas Collins,” Johnny told the mag, referring to the ’60s-’70s TV series. “Even then, at that age, I knew – this has got to be weird.”

  • Nicole

Love full circle stuff like this! Jackie Earle Haley brought Johnny Depp to the Nightmare on Elm Street audition where Wes Craven’s daughter saw Depp and the rest is history and now they are both in this! <3

My dad was at Hillfield private school in Hamilton, Ontario in the 1930s with Jonathan Frid. He and Frid were in a boxing match together.

I met Frid at the height of his fame in 1969 when I made my first trip to NYC as a teenager. My mom arranged for us to meet Frid at the Russian Tea Room.. I remember that a reporter from 16 magazine arrived to interview him.
I hope Frid- who moved back to Canada some years ago- has a cameo in this movie!

@Frozoid: Frid and three other members of the original cast of Dark Shadows will be making cameo appearances in the movie ;) (It’s official)

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is so exciting me …this is my generation’s

Every afternoon we’d watch this series ..eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches frigthened out of our wits. This show was in Black and white at first…which made it even more was an electrifying series.

I remember seeing THE MOVIE….which was EVEN MORE SCARY!!

I LOVED Barnabus Collins….and ONLY see him in the role—-BUT the other person who ca do this role justice–is Johnny Depp and the fact that he has respect for the show and characters…means alot.

But –since I see Helen B-Carter in it–please –please I hope Tim Burton has nothng to do with this..his movies–of late have sucked and have been way too campy.

I have to say the truth..I’ve never seen Dark Shadows, but if Johnny Depp is in it ,I gonna see it ! He is the best actor for me and I love him .And the cast is very good,Michelle is awesome,Eva green has that look…so magnetic, and I really hope the script too.I wish them the best!

  • R

Unlike twilight, this is how you look for vampire-looking cast.

  • Tae

@Gina YES….they always look angry and scary. The show was very campy but it wasn’t played for laughs AT ALL!!! They took it very seriously while lines were flubbed, stage hands stepped in view of the camera, and the studio caught on fire one time. They didn’t stop tape. The original was LIVE ON TAPE. In those days editing was too expensive and soaps were shot this way. You had to be on your game and prepared. The cast of the origninal is fabulous and I am just 34! I got into the show with the 1991 remake which is fabulous in its own right and will always be very special to me because that is how I came to love DS. I have met many of my best friends in Dark Shadows Fandom. I cannot wait!!
