Zachary Quinto Comes Out

Zachary Quinto has come out as a gay man to New York magazine.

The 34-year-old actor, who’s currently starring in a story arc on FX’s American Horror Story, spoke to the magazine about his eight month stint in Angels in America, saying, “as a gay man, it made me feel like there’s still so much work to be done, and there’s still so many things that need to be looked at and addressed.”

ZQ also spoke about the current cultural bipolarity toward the gay community, from gaining acceptance for gay marriage to teens being bullied and committing suicide.

“And again, as a gay man I look at that and say there’s a hopelessness that surrounds it, but as a human being I look at it and say ‘Why? Where’s this disparity coming from, and why can’t we as a culture and society dig deeper to examine that?’ We’re terrified of facing ourselves,” Zachary said.

Outstanding.

So happy that he’s officially out. He’s a great representative of the gay community.

# 3

And? Should he get an award? Next.

# 4

So happy for him! Not really shocking news but I’m extremely glad that he feels comfortable enough to be a out and proud. Good luck to him.

hmmmm… Here’s hoping we’re one step closer to the Chris Pine and Zachary relationship rumor becoming a reality.

This is all well and good, but New York magazine has had a very heavy emphasis on gay men stories ever since Adam Moss, who is publicly gay, became editor.

Good for him.
I can’t imagine how much stress he was under trying to hide from the press.
Not that he will see this, but…..Wishing you much happiness Zac!

Good for him !!! Fans all over Internet are very happy about this revelation. He made it in a very classy way, mentioning it passing-by like it’s no big deal (and it isn’t supposed to be a big deal)

Not exactly shocking news but well done to him. Dont care who you are, coming out publically has gotta be terrifying and congratulations to him. And to Sean Maher who also came out lately. again, not exactly shocking but its gotta be a relief to them both to not have to hide who they are and what they want from life. takes alot of courage!

Interesting. Glad he can be honest. Saw him in the west village yesterday, how funny.

Everyone knew this already..

I for one will celebrate the day when no one has to announce their sexual orientation. When it doesn’t matter. When it becomes Who cares.

I find it sad that he or anyone has to issue a statement. Or that people are in 2011 clapping and saying good for you. A lot of works has to be done. and not just with the non-supportive people but the ones that are supportive.

so glad he finally was able to come out :)

About What ,

@shyfan: How are we supposed to know who to be attracted to or flirt with if we that person doesn’t say their orientation? Do we just hit on everyone and hope they don’t lie to us? Or we just hope for the best I guess.

He must have a new movie coming out as well.

@Bob:

My point was the sad thing is he has to announce it to the world and the heading is Zachary Comes Out.

HOW DO YOU KNOW.. Hint: If someone likes you they flirt back, if they don’t show interest they are interested; and just because someone says something doesn’t make it true.

and any time you meet someone.. you are hoping for the best..

what’s with all these butthurt ppl giving thumbs down? >.>

Then I feel bad for the women who are married to closeted guys and believe their marriage is real. Or the children who don’t actually know their father is homosexual. I’m not trying to be mean here or start a fight. But anyways, congrats to Zachary for being brave and keeping his voice.

It still baffles me that ‘coming out’ should have to be such a big thing.

Being gay or straight doesn’t affect who you are as a person and everyone should understand that. It sucks that we live in a world where sexual orientation is even an issue. Gay, straight, bi who cares? If you’re a good person, I’ll like you, if you’re not. I won’t. It SHOULD be that simple. Nobody’s opinion should be swayed one way or another by discrimination of any kind.

In saying that, I understand even in this day and age, it takes courage to come out. Congratulations Zachary. I hope you manage to inspire others to do the same.

I guess nowadays it is really hard to be a closeted gay because of paparazzi, unless you decided to be lonely all your life. Good luck to him and hope he will still do well in his career.
