James Franco Covers 'Flaunt' Magazine

James Franco takes the cover of Flaunt‘s latest issue.

Here’s what the 33-year-old actor had to share with the mag:

On his artistic vulnerability: “I want to pull back the curtain, because what goes on behind the scenes is often more interesting and informative. We are so used to presenting films and art that are polished and impenetrable – they are well-crafted to the point that there is no messiness, and in some senses, not quite human.”

On criticism his work isn’t easily understood: “I don’t think what I’m doing is confusing … What is confusing is that I’m an actor in mainstream film and the poeple that usually comment on mainstream film are idiots, and they don’t try to think outside of their pop-culture commentaries. It’s so easy to criticize contemporary art from the outside.”

For more on James‘ interview, check out, which also has another (NSFW) cover of him baring his bum!

FYI: James is wearing Joe’s Classic in Heche.

Hod damn he is awesome.

# 2

I don’t like him anymore. he’s so annoying

# 3

His BOOTY is on the cover!!! You can google it! Very awesome :D

# 4

I don’t know what happened to him after the first Spiderman movie, but he has turned in to a weed smoking, chain-smoking, pasty, ugly, gay man who is full of himself. His work is boring! He has such gay taste…it’s tasteless! I don’t like him anymore and I will not watch him in movies/tv/oscars or read about him. What a complete douche bag and btw, they accept anyone at NYU and Columbia University with a Hollywood name and some cash! Trust me!

# 6

@Whoopa: Are you equating the word “gay” with “tasteless”? I don’t think those two mean the same.

# 7

I don’t get it. He acts in mostly main stream big budget movies that aren’t ‘deep’ or ‘artistic’. It seems as though he’s making fun of what he is, very hypocritical.

# 8

Yeah you’re a bit late with this, Jared…

# 9

He looks 45, not 33. Pasty, way too full of himself, and lately, just plain weird.

He’s way past peaking.

I think he’s amazing :D

He looks hot like always!

Okay so I just googled his “art” to see what he was talking about and wow! He should really stick to acting! He can neither draw nor paint, it just looks plain awful.. I hate it when people just make some stupid bullshit and call it art!

Little sucker…………where´s Lindsay Lohan when you need her?

shhh james……don’t speak. Just give us that crinkly smile…..

I like how people are criticizing his art even though, to be honest, most modern artists aren’t much better.
Just because his art isn’t a Da Vinci masterpiece doesn’t make it anything less than art. If it evokes an emotion from you, even if it’s disgust, then it’s technically considered art… just like splattering paint on a canvas would be considered art. ._____.

I think he’s an amazing person. Incredibly successful…. and incredibly handsome haha :) The fact that he’s involved with education, art, and acting all at the same time just shows his dedication. He’s pretty inspiring . :)
