    Suddenly ginger? with all respect to redheads, really not getting the hair color, no, no, no, Mr B. Not doing it for me!

    @Lillie:

    i think it is a bad angle, he looks pretty good a week earlier:

    @Lillie:

    As movie reviews says, it’s the angle. We discussed this once here. The photographer is shooting from above, maybe from a staircase, to get over the heads of others. So head looks big, legs appear to taper to small feet. He looks fine to me, but I wonder if it’s a big bore to stand and pose in the same positions at all these events. Or are stars that much addicted to attention?

  • curious cat

    Shout out to Oy! I went back to last thread and you left a comment for me that made no sense to me. What did I post that was “hilarious?” Last I knew we were talking about sharks mauling, maiming and killing people.

    Oy, I know you lurk, because you jump in ever so occasionally, nothing like the way you used to tear up these threads with your witticisms in the Olden Days. We miss you.

    I have said I’ve quit these threads more times than GB quit smoking, but something draws me back. It’s not as if I don’t have enough to do. I’m overburdened. But I need escape. Amid all the chaff, there is enough wheat here to be interesting sometimes.

    @Maggie, I hear so many stories of people’s boards being bitten, and it seems so common, and if at times boards save people’s lives. I’ve heard it said that a paddling surfer looks to a shark like a large sea turtle with flippers flailing and an underbelly. That the shark will often go for the underbelly, takes a bite, realizes this stuff doesn’t taste good and doesn;t bleed, and leaves.

    People also say if you bop a shark on the nose, it will flee. But how do you hit the nose when all those JAWS abnd TEETH are coming at you?

    I don’t surf and am surrounded by surfers. My garage is surf central for a bunch of young people. I’ve done it, and I am totally with GB when he told a reporter that he stood up the first time. The reporter didn’t believe it. Hey, I stood up the firs time too and I am way less athletic than King Leo. That’s not the hard part! The hard part is knowing the waves and how to work them AFTER you stand up. :)

  • Truth

    Our Butler is looking incredibly handsome in these photos.

    His winning smile goes a long way and I love the color of his hair and beard.
    That is one sexy hunk of man right there! Photos were definitely worth the wait.

  • Maggie P.U.

    @6 cc you are right…the standing up takes getting used to and practice.Several I know say it is like riding a skate board…NOT!!!!! Plus…when you finally have the idea of how to stand and position and you go out for your first wave…. let me tell ya it is a rush but also at the same time you see a wave coming at ya you have 2 choices…saying “oh $hit” as you start paddling and then getting in position or pray it doesnt take ya down to deep….Ive been rolled by a wave and when I came up looked out and got hit with another…. nah… the “water gurus” can have it. And to watch a tribe out in the water is awesome….. the moves percision…Point Break is a example of how far they will go to catch that ultimate wave. Now, there is a new wave that has been found… like a rolling wall…can’t remember where it was-Australia I believe. The pictures alone will scare the b-jeezus out of ya. But again, it is all about the wave.

    Hitting a shark on the nose….. would not even consider getting that close…but yes I have heard of it. BUT! never heard of anyone actually doing it…or doing it and surviving…because if u think of it….you are getting in position and by the time its nose is where you can reach it you are toast….had I known those sharks were out there that day Jee-zus would have nothing on me. The Man may have been able to walk on water… I can assure you I would be running…..

    Peace.

  • johnaaa

    What happened to his movie Machine Gun Preacher.. and why didn’t his huge (cough) fanbase not support his movie

    I think fans need to stop spouting off how hot some guy is and support the product. I think that would have made a difference..

  • Joie de Vivre

    @johnaaa: Hey, I saw the movie. It wqas phenomenal! Do not blame fans for Hollywood’s large errror. It was only played in 93 theaters across the US and only one week in 50 of them. Take a hike!

  • No No

    No, no, no. Butler does not look healthy. He is too thin, gaunt, and it looks like his hair is thinning. Probably from poor dieting habits. He looks terminally ill. Please Gerry.. Get the hell out of Hollywood. Go back home and eat some real food. You are a very handsome man and you are too young to loose your good looks.

  • Manny

    WTF is going on with his hair? Is he channeling his pal Tony Curran? I’m sorry but I’m not a fan of the red hair… how Rose McGowan of you Gerry. :P
    .
    I agree Curious Cat… oy has been missed. OY if you are out there… I still worship the quicksand you walk on. ♥

    God sent sunshine our way today so we are off in the chilly morning to enjoy the outdoors…. Have a great morning one and all.

  • niknoks

    @Manny:

    Not sure if GB is channelling Tony Curran, he’s a proper ginger, but I agree not loving the hair colour or the hairstyle to be honest, he has put a bit of weight back on though, which is good.
    -
    You enjoy the outdoors, I am nursing a humongous hangover from last night’s Halloween party, so I’m staying indoors feeling sorry for myself.

  • N.

    Is it the lighting or something else but his skin looks very clear and has got rid of the sun spots and uneven tone. The hair… for a second he looks almost like what’shisname.. Danny Bonaduce from the Partridge Family, a very handsome version. It’s def the bad angle that makes his head appear huge. He looks happy and that grin of his and the sparkle in his Irish eyes are delish.

  • Autumn

    Afternoon JJers! Nice to have a new thread – yesterday in VA was crazy weather! Snow, sleet, rain – AHHH! Woke to a beautiful chilly sunny Sunday! Nice to see these pics. He’s a handsome man any way you cut it – it’s the spray stuff they are putting in his hair to lighten for the beachy scenes – dark hair if you spend enough time in the sun lightens a bit if you’re a sun worshipper. It will be back to it’s brown soon, hopefully, with a bit of grey – I like that.

    Hoping the other film roles come to fruition and he bulks up a bit. He’s almost 42yy and it appears he has a very busy agenda for 2012.

    Love adding my $.02 to these posts. Love reading everyone’s thoughts. You ladies are great women! We each have our own ups and downs; good days and bad; I enjoy just being here.

    My heart goes out to Lisa S. from a previous thread – hang in there/ every day is a challenge when you lose someone you love, it’s the happy memories to dwell on. It got me through my best friend dying in my arms a few years ago to realize being happy, positive and living every day to its fullest is what he would have wanted. I nursed him through AIDS and I was the only one of our friends who stood by him to the end. Live is short!

    Leaving on a happy note: Butler is simply gorgeous!
    Happy Sunday! Autumn

    @johnaaa:

    I saw the movie and thought Butler did and exceptional job portraying Sam. I wish everyone could see the movie.

    Unfortunately it is not being shown in some areas.

    That does not mean that his fan base is not huge. It just means that some of his fans will not be able to view this movie at this time.

    And as far as his hotness, that goes without saying. The man is hot like fire!

  • The Noise In The Walls

    Love the photos..however..the combo of his blonde highlights, with the ocean water etc..and than mixing it with the light brown will make your hair a reddish tint..Who’s his colorist?..Striping the first colour and then adding the brown would’ve done the trick..but he looks great with that smile!!

    I saw MGP..I thought it was awesome..Too bad the distributor missed his mark here in the US…It’s frustrating because that’s Gerry’s best work to date..

  • Met him

    I believe the red hair is for the movie. The man he’s portraying has red hair.

    As for him looking too gaunt and thin, I fell into that trap a while back but I’ve since been at his premieres and no, he’s not too thin or gaunt. He’s actually rocking a very nice six-packs while not being as big as in “300″ but he looks fit, ripped and handsome.

    @Maggie P.U.:

    Maggie, I tried surfing some years ago and took a few lessons at a break in Waikiki called Canoes. You may have been there. The waves are small, even and gentle, perfect for leaning. It’s called Canoes because they take tourists for outrigger canoe rides there. I’ve tried a couple of other places too. My main problem was poor eyesight. Couldn’t see where I was going, scared of running into people and I had $600 contact lenses I was not about to lose! Glasses just don’t cut it either on the waves. Nowadays the contacts are disposable and like cellophane and you toss ‘em after two weeks or a month, and they don’t seem to float out of your eyes anyway. New technology. I don’t know the science of it although I could if I tried. But now I’m a bit out of shape, had a longterm skin infection that kept me out of the water for ages, have it on my bucket list to get out there one day and try again.
    If you come out to Hawaii, look me up! We’ll go out and you can teach me what I shoulda learned.

  • Maggie P.U.

    @26 cc….Yeah, but like I said in a previous thread when you also (remember) was around the first to post all the thumbs down you got. It has gone to where it is not what one posts but who they are. Or should I say the moniker is. My fav is a post of mine being deleted all because I pointed out it was a book and not a notebook….. go figure.

    I have a REAL good idea who is doing it. And I feel sorry for them. I have never met them nor they me yet I have made them jealous or pi$$ed off. And with hiding behind a moniker you grow brass chaones’.
    So, the majority is done out of spite. Just to darn funny and a bit pathetic. All my old posters are gone who I loved to chat and debate with. That has changed and it is to bad. Anyway, if ya want that article to read let me know. The pic of this type of wave gave me the chills. U could see the surfer but to their right I swear it literally looked lik a wall of water with another curling on top of it. They looked as if they were inside the wave.

    Peace.

    MPU

  • Maggie P.U.

    @34 cc… yeah I remember that spot….. and it is a good way to learn. Here is how to start back…. get a thin board skateboard…. you know like the old ones back in the day…LOL. Ride it around a bit til you feel comfy with your stance. Go then to a small hill…. and ride the hill down. If you can’t master the hill your stance is off….. start over. Once you master that baby skate board go a bit wider and so on.

    Always remember “butt out” is not the stance. This is a good way to keel over and miscalculate not only the wave but your focus. This also goes for a skateboard on a hill. Try it and you will see what I mean.

    Just for $hit and giggles buy a 57 chevy (cheap surf board…not to long but wide enough to learn). Take it to the beach and practice stance. On a quiet day and you have some rip waves coming in (not huge.those that break at the hip) practice with those. In the mean time invest in surfing vids and watch and learn. Check out the tribes in your area or even ask one to give ya tips…..you will get the mojo runnin’ in no time.
    Also, how I started was reading andstudying the art of surfing…. you’ll be surprised of how in reading you can master the art of doing it in no time. Like martial arts…. I have studied them not practiced and lets just say I can defend myself very well. Keep the faith and remember the objective is to stay on the board and not become fish food. Practice practice practice. In the mean time, do not worry about the wa-hee-nee’s (sp)….LOL

    Peace.

    @Maggie P.U.:

    How coincidental that I was writing a post to you as you were sending one to ME!! I’d like that article. Can you link it here?

    I don’t know what posters you were connecting with but there are all kinds on these sites. My main bane is people who attack others whom they don’t even know. A good board should be an exchange of ideas, opinions and information, not a site for waging war on strangers. I keep leaving then the fighting starts, then sneak back and find some gold nuggets that keep me around a bit. It’s not that I have a lot of time on my hands, I’m kind of overwhelmed but sometimes you need a break without making a big commitment, if you know what I mean. Socializing in real life means making commitments to times and places and involvement with people you know in RL. I know it sounds selfish, but I’ve had so much work to do I can’t commit a few hours here and there to social gatherings very often.

  • curious cat

    @Maggie P.U.:

    Thank you for that. peeps in my family surf. I just have to get up the nerve and the muscle to do it.
    @all

    Another thing is on my mind. An incident happened here in my town that is evidently all over the Net. Nothing to do with Butler, so maybe it won’t get out of moderation.

  • curious cat

    Couple of days ago, a pregnant woman with her husband and a 3 year old walked to a local Safeway store, where I regularly shop, felt faint, decided she needed to eat, picked up a sandwich and ate it while she shopped. At the checkout counter, she failed to pay for it, said later she was distracted and forgot, but was chased out of the store by security. Even though she tried to pay the couple was arrested, taken to the police station for booking and their kid turned over to Child Protective Services.

    Turns out this story is out all over the place now. A friend sent me a copy from the British Daily Mail. It’s even on a legal discussion website.

  • RNC08

    Look at that gigantic cranium!

  • curious cat

    I used to work for the company. I know Safeway employees are trained (or were) to treat customers with respect and give them the benefit of the doubt in any questionable situation. Why didn’t someone just ask the couple if the sandwich was paid for or should it be added to the bill. Some people posted that they’ve been distracted and fogotten things and they weren’t pregnant with a 3-year-old.

  • curious cat

    To my thinking, all the company has done is get a load of bad publicity and INTERNATIONALLY. The stpry is all over the place. All they had to do was ask if the sandwich was paid for, or should they add it to the bill. I’ve tried to comment on two sites and can’t seem to do it, while people write hate stuff.

    Hey would love to hear about any costumes that you guys have going on (i know its off topic, butttt). If any of you want to share that is. I’ve been living through my friends vicariously this Halloween. With all that’s happened the hubby and I aren’t dressing up or hitting up any parties, but we are going to a Haunted House tomorrow. I’m scared.

  • niknoks

    @Lisa S.:

    My other half and I went to a party where we had to dress as London Underground stations. We went as Canary Wharf. I dressed as a huge yellow canary and himself went as Worf from Star Trek. We won 2nd and got a bottle of Captain Morgans which I now regret drinking. The winning couple went as Cockfosters. The man dressed as a can of Fosters and I’ll leave it to your imagination as to what his missus came as. (-;

    Haha love it! How fun. What great costumes. I will use my oh so innocent mind to try and visualize Mrs. Cockfoster’s costume. :-D~ Sounds like you all had a blast!
