Hugh Jackman: Daniel Craig Could Be My Broadway Understudy!

Hugh Jackman and his little scooterer Ava brave the chilly morning as they head to school on Monday (October 31) in New York City.

The 43-year-old actor brought along the family pooch, Peaches, for some exercise.

Hugh is currently starring on Broadway in Hugh Jackman – Back on Broadway.

“Well, out of all the places in the world I’ve performed, my favorite is Broadway. There’s something electric about it,” Hugh explained to Playbill.com.

He also joked about having Daniel Craig, his A Steady Rain co-star, join his show. “Hey, I invited him to come and be my understudy. I told him he could do all the matinees, but he wouldn’t go for it.”

@Kundie: His new movie S-UCKeD? For the record Real Steel, has already grossed more than $ 67 million in the U.S. and over 153 million dollars worldwide and collected a lot of positive reviews. Well, those who have filled the mouth of sarcastic Rock Em Sock Em Robots a year before this film was released, predicting a failure to Mr.Jackman, I bet will stand planning to commit suicide. Now, they can join to those who didn’t believe the success of this Broadway one man show with a total gross of $1,210,974 for the first eight previews. I hope everyone has learned a lesson: when an artist has real talent and a lot of class, can play even the Yellow Pages and win an Oscar…Go-to-hell people affected by Dr.Cox Syndrome (and spammer like you)

We love the movie and have seen in twice — as there were parts we wanted to watch again. Everybody I know who has seen it liked it. A lot of people made fun of it because of the robots, etc. and would not go see it — well, that is their loss. Jackman’s problem is that he leads a happily married family life and does not do drugs, chase models, etc. so there is not “copy” about him in the trade mags, and they don’t like that — they want more scandals, etc. to sell. And that is a sorry reflection on society. Yay for Jackman who stays decent and still is successful.

When someone first asked Hugh Jackman whether Daniel Craig might be interested to do a musical with him — his reply, knowing his friend quite well , was ” That would be the audacity of hope”, obviously borrowing the title of a famous autobiography.

This is a very good time for Hugh –

*Real Steel performed so much better, critically and commercially-speaking, after so much negative hype before it was released, ( with undue comparisons to the childhood rock-em-sock-em robots). The movie turned out to be more of a story of redemption ( for the father, his relationship with his son, and his return to dignity in his former profession … even the story of Atom was one of rebirth) than just slanging robots on the ring. The robots even had their unique looks and Atom certainly had his own persona.

*Hugh is now on a very successful opening run of BACK ON BROADWAY. He is breaking box office records…and winning over fans with his showmanship and varied talents on stage!

*Then, it is going to be Les Miserables in the immediate horizon — the film starts production on March 5!

*After which , a rethought version of the Japanese saga in THE WOLVERINE, with James Mangold now at the helm ( they had worked together in KATE AND LEOPOLD).

Great time for Hugh Jackman – the best of both worlds on stage and in films!
