Rapper Heavy D Dies at 44

Heavy D, influential ’90s rapper, producer, and singer, passed away on Tuesday (November 8). He was 44.

TMZ reports the rap legend, whose real name was Dwight Arrington Myers, was rushed to a hospital in L.A. around noon and was pronounced dead an hour later.

“Cops are investigating the death – and so far, there are no obvious signs of foul play. Police are currently at the home,” the site adds.

Heavy, the former leader of hip hop group Heavy D & the Boyz, most recently performed at the Michael Jackson Tribute Concert in Wales in October with La Toya Jackson.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.

I’m not into rap at all, but I loved this guy. He was so funny on Bones, I always wished he was on the show more. And from his Twitter, he came across as a really cool, likable guy.

I wish his family and friends comfort and condolences. I’m sad today. Rest in Peace. x

This is so sad and shocking. My mom was hurt and just broke down about this because she loved Heavy D.
I wonder what his former Uptown lablemates( Mary, Jodeci, Christopher Williams), P.Diddy, Andre Harell, Al B, Keith, Teddy heck Guy, TLC all of them who were friends are right now since they were all close during the early 90′s.

I am so sad. I really did not care for rap music, but I like him. He came across so full of love, light, and just can make your day go better.

I guess he finished what he was meant to on Earth, and moving on. Heaven is in for a treat! Can you imagine the concerts that are going in Heaven. RIP oh peaceful giant. The world is a little sadder now that you are gone…..
