    RONTEX Says:

Looks seriously awesome! I’m reading the books with my middle school kids now and the themes and action are very intense, looks like the producers have chosen not to dilute that. It’s made for some very intimate conversations in our house regarding the value of human life and sacrifice.

@RONTEX: I hate to brake it to you but they are focusing on the love triangle.

I thought it was going to be more intense. I guess they have to keep it PG 13.

    flor Says:

I was expecting something more edgy and dramatic. Plus, I think Haymitch looks more like a character than a real person.

    Asha Says:

OMG, it looks soooo good. Can’t wait until March.

    RONTEX Says:

    @mel:
Could you “break” it to me and not “brake” it to me, geez. Of course the love triangle is there but it’s in the frame work of a bigger battle or is that over you head?

If you haven’t read the books, please do so!

    Lol Says:

I could understand nothing from this trailer. What is the plot of the story?

  12. 12
    mel Says:

@RONTEX: Oh hahahah I’m sorry for the typo! NONONONO, they changed the script. For instance, they want to go the twilight thing so they made Gale bigger with a bigger storyline. Prim gives Katniss the pin and more things I don’t really remember but you can go to ONTD. There’s a post with spoilers.

    paul Says:

it doesn’t look very special, and they changed the “look” of the world into a very generic futuristic blah

    mel Says:

@Lol: Basically, a bunch of malnourished kids get into the hunger games ( acompetition the goverment makes every year to remind people not to reveal) and so Katniss (Jennifer) takes her sister spot and getsinto the games and kills the other kids except Peeta (Josh) and then they will go onto the second movie if it makes more than $100millions. But they don’t look malnourished so they’re already losing points on that.

    essie Says:

is this just the hollywood version of battle royale

  17. 17
    paul Says:

@essie: pretty much. it looks like they’re trying too hard to make it the next bing thing. At least, Twilight didn’t really tried to be the next big thing when they made the first movie.

    andy Says:

it looks like a cheap syfy tv show

    JT can't act Says:

Is it just me or some of the characters look like caricatures with wigs on.

    Lol Says:

@mel: Thanks! Well, then it doesn’t look my cup of tea.

    Bruna Says:

AMAZING! Couldn’t be better! Can’t wait to watch the movie! Josh IS Peeta!

  22. 22
    Keilee Says:

I still think Malcolm Mc Dowell would have made a better Snow (he’s just so creepy and plastic looking he’d have been great) but I like it. No their not walking skeletons but nor are they supposed to be. Yes they have little food but if they didnt have enough for them to be strong enough to work they’d be dead. Plus, asking a bunch of young actors (some of whom are/were minors) to starve themselves isnt gonna cut it in terms of SAG, parents, unions etc. LIVE WITH IT. theyre not supposed to be 90lb weaklings. if shes strong enough to hunt and clamber abou then she isnt going to look like an ethiopian refugee. its about the meeting of the four elements(Snow is water/ice, Gale is the air, Peeta the earth and Katniss, well she’s the mockingjay that brought fire), about human survival, about what we do to each other, what we’re capapble of. And you lot are sitting around bitching that th actress isnt skinny enough. Jeez. so much greater things to worry about.

  23. 23
    Lily Says:

@JT can’t act: in the book, Capitol people dresses, makeup and speaks outrageously ridiculous, “like caricatures”

  24. 24
    Reality Bites Says:

    @mel:

Katniss was able to hunt gather and eat quite frequently by the time of the reaping if you remember.. so she was petite not scrawny. And Peeta was the baker’s son in town so better fed then most.

  25. 25
    Reality Bites Says:

In a future time North America has become Panem. 12 districts serve the whim of the Capitol. The 12 districts are kept sequestered by electric fences and police. Their job is work whatever it is their district specializes in and send it to the rich Capitol so that they can lead lazy privileged lives of comfort and excess while the districts are kept poor and under fed. To prevent or warn off rebellion every year as punishment for a previous rebellion.. two children from each district (24 children total ages 10 to 18 ) are chosen to to compete in a battle to the death in an arena miles wide which is televised. The winner receives food and luxury for their family for life. The contestants are paraded around before hand to attempt to win sponsers from the capitol who might send them gifts during their time in the arena to help them survive. The gamekeepers can also manipulate the arena to make conditions more harsh or dangerous. Welcome to the Hunger Games may the odds always be in your favor…
