Gerard Butler Vows To Never Date Co-Stars Again

Gerard Butler makes a trip to the Fred Segal store after a relaxing lunch with some buddies on Saturday (November 26) in Brentwood, Calif.

The 42-year-old Scottish stud recently said he wants to settle down and does not plan to do it with a co-star.

“That’s a dangerous path. When you’re making a film with someone, you get to know them very well indeed and it’s too easy to develop a sort of obsession with them that you think at the time might be love. But it isn’t,” Gerard said.

“Earlier in my career, I had a couple of relationships with co-stars and both times it was a disaster,” he added.

FYI: Gerard is wearing a Rogue cotton henley.

I meant there is no coincidence, which is when the accidental and unexpected happens, as opposed to coincident, which means things occurring together in space or time. Similar ides, but different enough to give a separate meaning to our subject.

@wow

Thank you.

Your beautiful words are uplifting and inspiring. There is a lot of good sense in what you say, and GB’s threads trigger very interesting conversations at time.

@Can’tGetEnough:
At least we now know for sure he is OK and released from the emergency room. All this silence caused some of us to wonder about his well-being status.

“What does a two wave hold down mean? A two wave hold down in the surfing world is considered one of the worst scenarios a surfer could find himself in. What this means is when a surfer falls on a wave he is riding or in Gerard’s case when you are paddling back out a wave hits you and takes you underneath the surface for however long. The bigger the wave the longer you will be held down for. A wave (the first one) takes you down for so long where another wave will come pass over you while you’re still under the water from the previous wave. This is why it’s called a two wave hold down, because two waves have passed over you since you have been underneath the ocean water. It is very hard to believe that Gerard did actually have a two wave hold down and not drown as most professional surfers could rarely survive this type of scenario yet alone an amature.”

@from WO:
If he really survived something like this, it makes it even that much more of an unusual and fantastical event than most of us initially thought.

@from WO:
@Hollywood Gossiper:
It sounds very serious. Each one of these waves could be described as a small Tsunami. Real surfers don’t often survive such experiences, yet he has. How would we have felt if the unthinkable happened? Someone is definitely watching over him.

Hollywood Gossiper @ 12/20/2011 at 1:02 am

@GerrysFascinatingWoman: Actually no they got caught by a rogue wave according to Greg Long otherwise it was a mellow day for Mavericks. And Gerry did not do any surfing, he was just sitting or paddling on his board apparently. According to Jeff Clark, the owner of Mavericks Surf Shop and the guy who put Mavericks on the map, they were doing paddling shots. It does appear from some photos, that the real surfers were doing some surfing and perhaps shots for the movie. To have Gerry in the water, on the board on the wave at the same time his stunt double was doing surf shots, would be good for continuity.

I wonder if Jonny Weston has done anything similar though he is apparently a more experienced surfer.

“Each one of these waves could be described as a small Tsunami. ”
-
No, they couldn’t. Tsunamis and waves are two completely different things.
-
“Real surfers don’t often survive such experiences”
-
Yes they do, you should watch big wave competitions, you will see surfers wipeout, take bigger hits from bigger waves and carry on competing after a quick medical check. Yes ‘real’ surfers die after being held down but generally they are in much worse situations than GB.
-
What made this particularly dangerous, and what I imagine was incredibly scary, for GB is that he was inexperienced and almost certainly shouldn’t have been out there in the first place.
-
I go to bed with news that GB has been sent to hospital after been ‘held down’ by a couple of big waves and wake up with news he was hit by, not one, but two ‘Tsunamis’. My eye sockets were barely big enough to contain the eye roll.

@Can’tGetEnough: CGE, bless you girl for the info and pics you bring. It made me heartsick to think he came so close, oh dear. I am glad that the Lord has more work for him to do and it was not his time to go. Thanks again for all you do it is so appreciated by me. Have a great day, off to work♥

@Hollywood Gossiper:
Thank you for the clarification. Looks can be deceiving.

Thank you for this. Got word that it was an ‘almost drowned’ thing.

Really feel, from some place deep, anyone who mocks this is heartless. That includes a few here, and they know who they are.

who would love to be in the Highlands to see the look on his mother’s face when her favorite child, born of passion, walks in the door her one true gift this Christmas when he returns to hearth and heart… his home… his real true home… and he’s so lucky to have one!

@Hollywood Gossiper:
How can anyone thumbs down your post? Thank you for that photo. He’s laboring. It isn’t his sport, it isn’t his bliss. His face says it all. Was his back hurting prior?

@lolita: You’re welcome Lolita, and thank YOU for the info you bring here as well! It’s nice that a few of us bring the news, links and pics here to share with everyone.

I was glad to see the Betty Burger sighting. Means that the man is OKAY and functioning! Still, just the thought that he could have drowned is scary. Still leaves everyone wondering if he really should have been out there in the first place. It’ll definitely give him a good story to tell when he’s out promoting the film. I think someone mentioned in an earlier post, it will be better to hear about this then the law firm story, the cruise ship story, etc etc.

Today is my last trip out to the stores! AMEN!! Have a great day friends!!

@Myrtle Beach:
Who are the creeps thumbing down people for expressing heart-felt sentiments? Grinch’s! Don’t let them steal your joy!
~K

@GFW: favorite. You talk about his mother like she has no other children. We r all thankful for his safety.

On the topic of fav….I do not think any good mother would be so heartless to show that so explicitly. Especially for Gerry and his siblings after their dad left. They all probably had some form of trust and self-esteem issues. Hopefully they all lean on each other.A smart woman would not display favoritism like that. Abandonment is so devestating enough from one parent.

@GerrysFascinatingWoman:
I’m right, everyone knows it. No new photos, even with THIS line up that Jared is disgusted with the people here (over-sharing) and have grossed out everyone… so much so they deleted the posts! And so is Gerry. Now… all it takes 15 people to hide this one two. Three, two, one…GO!! LOL
~K
who says you can’t bargain with the truth…

@from WO:
Thanks for this. Many of us have drawn our own conclusions by photos that misrepresent what happened… thanks for sharing!
~K

@WOW:
This stuff is good to know.
-
The photos can be misleading as if he was aboard a wave. And to think he wasn’t but came between two opposing forces, two waves collided on him! Hit from both sides? Who can handle that? It disorients us. God was watching. I swear He was. He saved this sea-gem who admitted (once) to be afraid of deep-sea fishing? Oh, so now he’s standing on a thin fiberglass bullet-shaped board ON the very water he fears? He’s a city-guy! Hint-hint!! He’s a landluver!
-
These boards are designed to speed down a wave. I hope they can film around this, have enough footage to call it a wrap. Do some CGI or something. It’s time he get home, follow his mom home for the holidays!
~K

@Silent:
I know he’s older siblings. Gerry is a child of passion born as an attempt to mend a failing marriage, and he knows it… it was already a mess and their break up not his fault. But children, 2 years old, do they know this? No. They think they’re to blame. He’s a very sensitive soul. Not to get into that, but she’d never openly say it. It’s something I feel so I expressed it, and I have every right!
-
Have a nice day!

Thumb up Thumb down +1

@angelsrock:
“He was with “professionals”. They should have known better.”
.
Or Gerry should have known better. He has a stunt double who would have happily done any stunt asked of him. Gerry is the producer and star of the film. If Gerry says he wants to do a stunt himself there is nothing anyone can do to stop him. He is a grown man who made a decision to do this. The consequences are his to bear.

Could you be a little colder Anna? Seriously, is there ice running through your veins? If so, you fit right in here with the mocker who created a stupid story because she’s her own fear of death so makes fun of stuff like this. Sad.
~K

@GFW: You’re at 7 keep going! It’ll be hidden soon. LOL I’m right you know. I am. This new just 2 months ago would have been a new thread! It would. Reason? Grossed out people. Notice the (cough) sharing has toned down. Kind of feel it might be too late… LOL
