'The Walking Dead': Mid-Season Finale Interview with Robert Kirkman!

The Walking Dead‘s mid-season finale was quite the shocker!

After the ep, writer and executive producer Robert Kirkman gave an interview with EW about the episode. Here’s what he had to share. SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!

On keeping the viewers fooled: “It’s good to know people didn’t see it coming. That’s a big concern when you have this kind of story line and you are leading to that kind of reveal. You don’t want people to be expecting it, especially in the Walking Dead. I’m glad people are being caught off guard.”

On if Herschel knew Sophia was in the barn: “If I were to put on my detective hat I would say that, if Hershel did know that Sophia was in the barn, he might have just said, ‘Oh yeah, that girl’s sick, we’re keeping her in the barn.’ So it’s entirely possible that he didn’t know. We’ll find out very early on in the return episode coming up this February.”

On what is to come when new episodes return in February: “So there’s going to be tremendous amounts of conflict that comes from that and there’s going to be a lot of aftermath dealing with the shocking revelation and there’s going to be a lot of crazy new stuff thrown into the mix. I think we’re going to see some new characters very early on, introduced in our first episode back. There’s going to be a lot of cool stuff coming up.”

This second season started well, got boring when they went to the farm and now it’s cool again. The ending was pretty shocking (kind of expected, but still).
To anyone who has read the comics: Sophia survived didn’t she? I mean, I think I read somewhere she didn’t become a walker.
I was upset, though, guess I was hoping she was ok too.
But, yeah, the writers extended the farm bits and the search for Sophia way too long, some say season 1 was kinda rushed but (so far) I enjoyed it better than season 2.

OMG, OMG, OMG, last night was great! Fantastic!! I was totally not expecting Sophia to come out of that barn. I was shocked, mad, and angry because they were looking for her all over the forest and Sophia was only a couple of feet from them all the whole time. Poor baby! I am just want to know now if the land owner knewn all that time. I can not wait for February to come guick enough.

Sophia…NOOOOOO!!! I can’t believe she is gone. I was so shocked to see her come out of that barn. So sad.

The Walking Dead is the BEST show on tv, Andrew Lincoln is soooo AWESOME !

  • lil

I enjoyed much more season 1 than 2, the last episode was quite good but seven episodes to do this….oh and I can’t believe the relationship between carol and darryl, that seems so desperate. I think darryl’s character is a loner and should stay alone..can’t stand Lori

Loved the midseason finale shocker, did not expect it. @lil totally agree with you, relationship between carol and Darryl is godawful strange. But I guess in that situation you have very little choices for a mate@ shane and the whiny woman
