Angelina Jolie directed this? Wow. This is just proving to me that filmmaking isn’t as hard as people make it out to be.

  • Sherry (not from JPW)

Focus, people, focus. This is Angie’s big directoral debut and you guys are biiitching and complaining about her outfit??? Seriously?? Come on, we should be talking about her accomplishment, not about what she is wearing…Angie can wear whatever she wants, she’s a grown woman, as long as she’s decently covered, I’m ok. If she makes the best dressed list, that’s a bonus. I don’t think she gives a hoot about that, esp right now. She’s like the rest of us, waiting for the reviews and hoping her message gets accross the way she envisioned.

    Enough of the dress-gate.

  • Danny

Wow, just wow about all the comments about what Angie is wearing, it may not be one of her best but the reason I love her is because she is so much more than her clothes. I admire this woman for her beauty inside and out, her intelligence, her compassion for others and her work. So yes I will look pass her outfit and remember she is there to promote her movie.

  • Pittstainwiglet

Da people complaining about angiez drezz iz not da audience she wants and it not da audience dat would want to see her movie anywayz. Day reason for a lot of us being fanz is becuz Angie iz not superficial. Dey should stick to being pittstain fanz since he curr about da opinion dey give and will adjust his opinion to fit urz jajaj and he alway make sure he got new Botox for hiz fanz jajaja Angie can do so better dan da high maintenance pr manipulator but az we all know Angie duznt care wut we think

  • Pittstainwiglet

you sound like an Angelina fan. We luv Angie no matter wut becuz some fanz like her for more than her clothing and looks. She is authentic in a land of inauthenticity … She is standing right next to da definition of inauthentic and dat why I Neva understand her relationship wit him except for now she is wit him for da kidz cuz he iz just az superficial az his fanz. @Danny:

Looks like Angie wore an outfit that really ages her and hangs off her body, maybe in an effort to be taken more seriously? It’s much older women that usually go this route.

No matter what recent photo of Bradley pops up on a blog my eye is instantaneousely drawn to his hairline. His hair unevenly and abruply shoots right into a full mane.

I’m stuck at home due this morning do icy roads and a couple of pile-ups so I can’t get out of my neighborhood and your comment on Jay-Z and Bey cracked me up. I cringe when I hear Beyonce talk. Jay I expect to come off gangsta…but Bey? Girlfriend needs some elocution and diction lessons. The funny thing is that her problem isn’t because she’s ghetto – it’s because she’s from Texas. No offense to our TX fans out there. Two of my brothers live in the Dallas area – and NOT in the ghetto. One of my brothers’ daughter came up here to go to college and when she first got here I was like, “WTF is this girl saying?” This brother’s wife is the head of a library and they both have advanced college degrees. BUT…my niece’s TX accent is pretty effin’ thick. She wants to be an actress and about the 2nd week or so of class she said to me that one of her acting teachers said he couldn’t understand what she was saying and wanted to know where she was from. She said TX and he said, “Really? Texas, USA?” LOL. So I’m giving Bey a pass on the bad diction. My niece is having to work really hard to get the TX out of her voice and obviously nobody has ever told Beyonce that if she really wants to be taken seriously as an actress – it would be nice if people could understand WTF she’s saying. As it is she’s richer than fvck all and her husband’s an ex-gang bangin’ thug, so nobody’s going to tell her they have no idea what the hell she’s saying.

I’m laughing because my other post on Angie’s outfits is being thumbed down, too. I’ll be glad to see her in anything that’s not silky/satiny, shiny and actually fits. That’s all I’m saying. When she wears clothes that are 2 sizes too big then she looks skinnier than she actually is. If you look at her waist and midsection, it’s tiny, but it’s not see-the-rib-and-hip-bones-sticking-out-I-only-weigh-97-pounds-like-the-tabs-say skinny. Hell, I wouldn’t even have minded the outfits she did wear if they’d fit better. I get it, she wants to be confortable and she’s not a fashion-plate, but…I think even Tim Gunn would agree with me that the premiere outfit was Fug City…necklace included

  • LOL

Are you sure you are talking about Pitt? Cause it sounds to me you are talking about Stumpy, PAID ESCORT WANNABE of MISS WANNABE A-LISTER, ANUSTAIN.

I never said Brad cared about what Angie’s saying. I said that I, personally, ME, think it’s fug and she should do better. Angie could be wearing a 6 foot burlap bag all the way over her head and Brad would say, “Baby…make sure there’s an Easy Access opening…front or back…your choice…” I just think she’s so freaking gorgeous that this outfit makes her look matronly and far older than she is. Nobody has to agree with me, but I’m entitled to my opinion and people thumbing it down isn’t going to prevent me from calling a spade a spade. The outfit is The Fugness and she can, and should, do better. I understand not wanting to upstage the actors or the movie itself, but there’s GOT to be a middle ground. IF this is the middle ground, then I’d hate to see low tide…

That’s admirable of you Lylian…but…unfortunately…I don’t have your restraint. LOL! I hardly ever say anything negative about Brad or Angie (at least not when I’m being serious) so to get thumbed down just for saying I thought her outfits were fug is a little lame. We’re not all going to agree on everything, but some people seem to subscribe to your theory that if you can’t say anything nice, then say nothing. I, however, subscribe to theory that neither Brad nor Angie is perfect and that pointing out their shortcomings doesn’t mean you don’t support them. Especially when it’s something as silly as her outfit being ugly. I had another observation which I’m keeping to myself so I DO know how to not flame bait…

  • Rose

@Passing Through: PT, I have to agree with busted that you have been very harsh and critical. Yesterday when I read some of your comments I thought someone had taken your name. I always enjoyed your comments but IMO you are being too critical about something that is not that important. Some fans are going to like that the black outfit, some will not and some just don’t care.
We should remember Angie fashion sense will never please all her fans, that’s just the fact. Let’s support her and her movie and leave the negative comments to the trolls.

Lylian, ITA, I think fans who criticise Angie and say nothing when Brad walks around with shaggy beard are hypocrites.
    .
    ++++++++++++++++++++++
    .
Okay…I know you’re not referring to me. I ragged on the beard like it was my full-time Job, but it’s also typical of Brad and anyone who’s followed his career knows that. I could spend a lot of time ragging on Brad’s clothes, too, especially when he wears the same outfit for days at a time…but I don’t because he’s not at a premiere. In fact, I seem to recall that several of us crapped all over Brad’s outfit at the KFP2 premiere in LA – that day he was wearing that baggy-ass camel-colored outfit with the crotch of the pants almost at his knees. So, really…your argument doesn’t hold water. We’ve (read: I) have ragged on Brad’s outfits, too. If, in the future, I think Angie’s wearing something that’s ugly I’m going to say so if I feel like it. You have no idea the number of times I’ve bitten my tongue over some of the stuff they’ve worn but last night’s outfit was just way too atrocious. She’s too beautiful a woman to age herself unnecessarily with fug matronly clothes.
    .
OK…that’s it…I’m finished with the clothes rant. I’m sure nobody wants to continue FugOutfitGate anymore than I do. I’ll chalk it up to a bad day at the office and hope to God she doesn’t repeat it in LA…

I don’t give a flying eff about her lack of interest in clothes, she is so above that but I do like to see her beauty maximezed at these events. Actually when I saw the zuku pics, it looks a lot nicer up close…..doesn’t photograph well at all.

  • Thank you!

I think they both look great- As Angie said to Bob Simon, she encourages her girls to be very, very stunning on the inside and the rest will take care of itself. Angie is smart enough to know not to wear a sexy slit dress like she wore a year ago (Tourist NYC red carpet) or a glittery gown like she did to the globes. Poor thing is probably really nervous, missing her mom, and just wanted to be comfortable. Writing & directing a movie is a HUGE accomplishment- not many can do it, few women have. After seeing how impressed some experts/not easily impressed people (the Newsweek reporter, Christine A, Tina B, Clint) are after seeing it, the accomplishment is even more amazing! Also, Angie seemed very pleased that the cast & crew found that the script was excellent, authentic and that making the movie was cathartic. Art can heal- I truly believe that- Angie (& Brad) should be very, very proud.

My morning with Tina Brown and Angelina Jolie!
    ..
    By Beth Kobliner
    Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 9:40AM
    .
I always drag myself out of bed early in the morning to take my kids to school, but yesterday morning I had to go so far as to put on makeup and heels, because I was attending an exciting event. Tina Brown, editor-in-chief of Newsweek and TheDailyBeast.com, hosted a breakfast where Angelina Jolie spoke about the new film she wrote and directed, “In the Land of Blood and Honey.” The movie focuses on innocent victims of the Bosnian War in the ’90s, as portrayed through the story of a young couple torn apart by genocide.
    .
Since the event was sponsored by my friend Pamela Graham, an amazing woman who is the Chief Talent, Branding and Communications Officer at Credit Suisse in New York, and since the brilliant attorney/journalist/writer Lawrence Otis Graham (another friend) invited me, I thought this would be fun. Turns out it was also intense and inspiring.
    .
Ms. Jolie is a woman who is using her fame to make a truly positive impact, bringing attention to the brutality of war in Bosnia and its impact on women in particular. I was skeptical, honestly, about a movie star delivering any sort of message (other than, ‘Look at me!’), but she was extremely smart and definitely passionate about this topic.
    .
Using her celebrity for good and not glitz is terrific. But her star power has also resulted in dollars to help the victims.
One example: More than 100,000 people who were displaced by the war haven’ t been able to return home—even though more than a decade has passed. Lucky for them, after Ms. Jolie and Brad Pitt visited Bosnia and brought much-needed light to the issue, the U.S. donated $500,000 to start Villa Angelina, a low-cost apartment building in Bosnia that refugees began moving into last month.
    .
Some really high-level women at the event discussed the notion of getting more women involved as peacekeepers. I also would love to see people show support through microfinancing (loaning tiny amounts of money) to women in war-ravaged and destitute countries, which is extremely beneficial because women are more likely to spread the wealth. I asked Ms. Jolie about this and she diplomatically confirmed that in her experience, when women are given money, they spend it on their children, men often spend it in “other ways that aren’t so good.” (If you’re interested, New York Times columnist and author Nicholas Kristof writes brilliantly about the trials of women in developing countries all the time.)
    ..
Still so inspired by this thoughtful and unique woman!.

ITA with just about everything you said. I was NEVER a fan of Beyonce. For one thing I don’t think she’s that great a singer – certainly not as good as she thinks she is. And she’s like Gaga – she steals stuff from past artists without crediting them and acts like she’s so effin’ innovative and creative.
    .
BTW – in regards of Bey’s splayed leg dancing and coochie skirts – at least she’s only 31. JLo is 42 and does the same thing. Beyonce ain’t the greatest singer evah but she’s better than JLo by a country mile. They’re neck-and-neck on the tacky front though…

Was about to post this myself. Look, you can express your disdain for what she wears. It’s a free country. But I think you’re missing the essence of Angie. She really doesn’t care for fashion. She’s so good at setting trends because she doesn’t follow them. She’s not a Hollywood drone.

Instead thumbing my posts down like a virtual finger being wagged in my face like I’m a 2 year-old would refuses to use the potty. I’m just saying – I’m not going to not say what I think just because it’s negative and people don’t think it should be said because I’m a fan. And then to be referred to as a “so called fan” (Gracie – post #188) when I’ve been one of Angie’s biggest supporters? Well…come on. That’s just bullshite. If you don’t agree with me, fine, but don’t call me a “so called fan” just because I don’t agree with you.

eggs- VERY true…when Hollywood “best-dressed” were stuffing themselves into shiny sausage dresses, Angie wears an elegant, loose fitting Reem A that is coyly matched to her man’s suit lining or a beautiful canary yellow dress that flows…THEN everybody copies her- it’s been going on for years & years- same for Brad…heck, even the JP kids are copied. This is the same thing that happened with Brad’s big foot-in-mouth/non-apology episode 2 months ago. It’s become obvious to me that I’m saying is being read in the wrong way because people seem to think I’m being colder about it than I am. I was actually laughing about the whole thing until Gracie declared me a “so called fan” and Busted said I was being “too harsh”. Clearly people don’t know me was well as I thought they did.

I was just looking at pics at JJB, and they are much clearer and nicer than the ones here. And as someone who has seen Angie up close, TWICE, I will tell you that she ALWAYS looks better in the flesh than in pics. It’s not her best outfit, but it’s certainly not horrible, and I think it’s appropriate for the occasion.

Congrats to Angie for writing and directing a film that will surely leave a mark on anyone brave enough to see it. She is an impressive and inspirational woman, one that all women should admire for her intelligence, tenacity and extreme focus. She is one of a kind for sure. Unfortunately for us fans who think she’s gorgeous beyond belief, she is just over it when it comes to her looks. I mean, yeah, I wished she was a little more vain, I admit it. I love it when she shows the world why she has been the standard of beauty for so long. BUT I am extremely happy that she has found true meaning in her life. We can debate about her looks and what she wears til the cows come home but she will not care. We want her to care just a bit but it doesn’t matter to her as it does to us. I am a fan and I will deal…sigh.

She couldn’t have done it without them, and Angelina Jolie beamed as she was surrounded by her proud support system at the New York premiere of her directorial debut film, In the Land of Blood and Honey, Monday night.

“It means everything,” Jolie, 36, said of having Brad Pitt and his parents, Bill and Jane Pitt, by her side. “I couldn’t be standing here without them.”

Matching their son and Jolie in all-black ensembles, the elder Pitts happily spoke to reporters, saying they were “very proud” of her work and that they admired her knack for doing everything well – including being a “really good mom.”

So how did she juggle duties of directing, as well as writing and producing the film, with tending to her six children – Maddox, 10, Pax, 8, Zahara, 6, Shiloh, 5, and 2-year-old Knox and Vivienne?

“I have a wonderful partner in Brad and we take turns working always,” said Jolie, who was led onto the carpet holding Pitt’s hand. “So I was with the kids when he shot Moneyball, and when he finished he took a few months off while I was shooting this.”

And with the kids on the set almost every day, that help proved to be even more valuable given the violent context of the movie: a story about the intertwined lives of a Serbian man and a Bosnian woman during the horrors of the 1992 Bosnian War.

“It was helpful [to have them there], but the kids had to be kept away from most of the set,” said Jolie. “So they would be outside playing with the fake snow and I would be inside working on something else.”
