Angelina Jolie Covers 'The Hollywood Reporter'

Angelina Jolie poses with Kung Fu Panda 2 director Jennifer Yuh Nelson on the cover of The Hollywood Reporter‘s latest issue.

Here’s what the 36-year-old actress had to share with the mag:

On when she wrote the In the Land of Blood and Honey script: “I wrote whenever I could, when the kids were asleep or in their classes. Halfway through some of the most horrific scenes, I’d hear, ‘Mommy, I need another story, I can’t go to sleep,’ and so I’d pause what I was doing and go tell happy stories about bunny villages. I studied a lot about the war, and watched a lot of documentaries.

On her kids knowing about her humanitarian work: “They know that mommy, on occasion, goes off to Libya or other places. I make them very conscious of the fact that there are a lot of people struggling through different things, and I don’t protect them from the fact that war isn’t a video game, it’s a very, very horrible thing.”

On the status of Kung Fu Panda 3: “We can say we are in discussions. Tigress is my alternate personality, especially with children. I love animation because you get to do things you don’t normally get to. For one, I could bring my kids and wear my pajamas, and hang out with Jen. And my character is just so badass.”

I’m not a fan but she really does have the most beautiful and timeless face I’ve ever seen. She has these strong features that stand out in everything she’s captured in. True beauty indeed without needing any plastic surgery or caked on make up.

    Go Angie I love you

  • candy

She’s a natural beauty. I just recently found out that she never felt the need to hire a publicist, stylists, makeup artists, hair stylits, beauticians, she doesn’t waste her time nor money on that. Instead she donates it and I have a new found respect for her. Amazing woman. Hope her movie is good and is an honest intrepetation of the horrible war.

Like I said before, I was pleasantly surprised to see Angie do a cover with Jennifer Yu. Jennifer Yu came across in the KFP2 press conference similar to Angie. They are both smart, articulate, creative, down to earth, and compassionate. Both represent women in the industry well.

  • Kriss

She is mythomaniac, narcissus and liar

OMG OMG OMG!!! So excited about the cover……

  • Agatha

    Nice cover!

  • Jen

Thank you JJ for the new thread.
Angelina truly is the gift that keeps on giving this month.

    OOMG I totally agree….

  • To Kriss

yes we all agree Jennifer Aniston is a selfish, narcisisstic bitch, liar, coke, male hormone, pot , nicotine addict just to stay slim which is not natural for her body but she is obsessed with fame and she does whatever it takes to stay famous (the reason why she refused to have kids )even if she made Brad run for the hills and in to depression & seek therapy for the first time in his life after one year into their “faux marriage made in hell/ rebound land from Goopy” This is the reason why this pathetic, talentless TV actress LIED for years about wanting to have kids; all she wanted was Brad’s A-list star power to make it in HW.
Well, once Brad finally figured out the fraud and dumped her, her dreams of A list status is dead and buried . Now she can focus on her D-listed balding, cheating 40 year old sshorty creepy dude she and Huvane bought for her. LOL

  • Laranjen

Hi Y’all. OMG not Another cover. no way she has a publicist or they would have made her hit the breaks. Self love =narcissist.

  • denise

Hit the brakes on covers Why? People want to read what she has to say. They came to her she didn’t run to them. Anyway!!
I would like to add what a POWERFUL woman our Angie has become. I look at this guy who is trying to sue her for plagarism. WTF? Who and what idiot put him up to this. Someone is telling him to do this. He will never win.
This man has a website dedicated to this. He is really desperate. Really. He has the nerve to take on the Almighty Jolie. She has more power than she even knows about. The UN and CFR is behind her. He should have saved his money.

  • Laranjen

Poor Brad forever in her shadow must be tough on him. i mean it is supposed to be his year oscar race and all. i give it till after the oscars– he knows how to bolt.

    ‘Tree’ producers find balance
Eye on the Oscars: Best Picture – ‘The Tree of Life’
    By Anthony Kaufman

    ‘The Tree of Life’

Dede Gardner, Sarah Green, Grant Hill, Brad Pitt, Bill Pohlad

“It’s been percolating in Terry (Malick) a long time,” Pohlad says. “When we met 12 years ago, he told me the story. We stayed in touch and stayed good friends. And four-five years later, he sent me a script, and it was fleshed out a lot. And even though it was unusual and you could tell it would be challenging, I found it very emotional and accessible.”

“We looked around for different equity partners and some foreign pre-sales, but it was mostly River Road,” says Pohlad, referring to his own company. “We believed in it and wanted to provide Terry the freedom to do it his way.”

“It was trying to find that right balance between the scope of it and getting it done in a reasonable way, and doing something that would be accessible without overwhelming the audience, and yet still find a way to get Terry’s vision across.”

“Terry had already had conversations with Sean (Penn) and Heath (Ledger) by the time I became involved,” Pohlad says. “Heath ultimately decided not to do it. Then Jessica (Chastain) was in place. And then we started looking around for who would play Mr. O’Brien. By then, Brad Pitt was already on board as a producer. So we have the biggest actor in the world sitting there, and we’re pretending not to see him as a replacement. Eventually it was hard to ignore the obvious.”

@ Shopping List #4 – Don’t forget Interview Magazine. Angie’s not on the cover (Scarlett Johansson is), but the issue includes her interview with Clint Eastwood. It’s a really great read. I’ll have to wait until this weekend to pick up Marie Claire and THR (they’re not out yet on the newsstands in my area).
Angie looks so fresh and lovely on the cover of THR. I love the professional company she keeps. All accomplished men and women who put out interesting and engaging product that isn’t just the same old Hollywood crap. When I watched Brad being interviewed on Charlie Rose the other day, he made a comment about how he quickly realized Hollywood created these “plug-in component” roles (as he called them) where you could just slot any actor into the part and he had absolutely no interest in continuing to do that. I had to laugh at that because he just called out Ticky’s entire movie career in that comment! Everything she has ever done could have just as easily been some other actress in the role. She’s created nothing iconic; nothing memorable, nothing lasting. Just your standard, run of the mill, assembly-line, Hollywood crap. Lol!

  • Media Wh@re MANiston

Look at the woman with the camera next to Brad. If I were her, I would have peed in my pants and passed out…..LOL!!!

Meanwhile the most recent Gurus ‘o Gold rankings are interesting–with “Extremely Loud” still not seen by most. While some of my fellow gurus are completely off the ranch (predictably, EW Oscarologist Dave Karger is closer to the mark than his colleague Anthony Breznican), the top ten list is–if there is a top ten–pretty close to final. The order may change between now and January 25, but this is pretty close. Note that Rudin’s other infamously embargoed movie, “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” which does not need publicizing at this point, did not make the list. Why did the embargo hold after David Denby broke it? Because Rudin was enforcing it. The producer consistently delivers several of the best movies every year (“The Hours,”"The Social Network,” “No Country for Old Men”) and this year has “Moneyball” as well as the Daldry and the Fincher on his slate. No one wants to risk the Wrath of Rudin.

    1. The Artist

    2. War Horse

    3. The Descendants

    4. Hugo

    5. Midnight in Paris

    6. The Help

    7. Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close

    8. Moneyball

    9. The Tree of Life

    10. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

I do not see any of the other candidates behind this list creeping into contention at this point. And reviews and critics groups could impact the standing of some of the late-breaking films. Bottom line is, though, that it’s about Oscar voters picking their number one film this year. Emotions will rule the day. “The Artist,” “Hugo” and “War Horse” celebrate old-fashioned film values in a nostalgic way. All three will tug at the heartstrings of the Academy’s artists and filmmakers. “The Help,” “Moneyball,” and “Tinker Tailor” are based on popular titles, and set in the past. The first two are audience-pleasers with rich, emotional character arcs, while “Tinker Tailor,” is a well-wound intricate spy thriller with a superb British cast led by Gary Oldman.

Among the originals, both “The Tree of Life” and “The Descendants” are deeply moving, exquisitely made family dramas, and by all accounts, so is “Extremely Loud.” But I don’t see relatively chilly “Midnight in Paris” or “Tinker Tailor” being the absolute favorites of enough voters to land best picture nominations, do you?

That is a darling picture of Brad and Vivi!! It made me smile.
