Tom Cruise: 'Ghost Protocol' Heads to Rio!

Tom Cruise waves to fans and photographers after landing at the airport on Wednesday (December 14) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The 49-year-old actor is in the South American country to continue his international promo tour for Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, which he premiered in Asia and Europe.

During a stop in Dubai, Tom sat down with MTV’s Josh Horowitz for a round of burning questions about his famous, iconic scenes throughout his career.

Some of the topics discussed in the latest edition of “After Hours” include his 2003 film The Last Samurai (and wife Katie Holmes insisting he wears his costume in the bedroom), whether or not he’s ever pooped during a stunt, and if he thinks he makes a better vampire than Robert Pattinson.

i know people say hes crazy but…………….i find him charming and self deprecating so i guess im a little crazy too then.

@POLO: ..You believe that because you’ve never actually seen him in person. LMAO

As a former PR person, even tho I don’t care for Cruise, I do have to admire his marketing/PR efforts for this film. Notice we have not seen Katie once during this 15 day blitz. Did a google search on her and there apparently are no pics/interviews etc. with her. Clever way to push the couch jumping craziness in the background by not bring her out with him to remind the public. He is doing what he does best — promoting the film using his charisma and charm rather than any talent. Pushing over the top stunts, attractive heroine etc. Doing his best to push the craziness out of folks minds. Going to Asia where he still has mojo and hitting up South America where he is still really respected. Won’t got see the film, but do admire his single mindedness in trying to claw his way back to the top in an industry that takes no prisoners.

@Danielle: I’m sorry, but no amount of jetsetting glad-handing is going to make people forget how crazy Cruise is. As matter of fact, as long as that bat-poo Scientology video is floating around no one should ever forget who he really is and who he supports. Cults are dangerous, ladies and gentlemen!

Agree totally, but he is definitely giving it the ol’ college try. And his “likeability” meter has risen about four points over the last year or so on USA today. He is definitely trying to regain his former status and glory. Won’t make it. He is a Hollywood icon and he should just leave it at that and realize he is almost 50 and there are tons of hungry “I’ll do anything for fame” actors up and coming. Because of the way Xenu indoctrinates you and the fact that they have treated Cruise like the second coming, I imagine he absolutely cannot believe he has lost his power to be number one. This movie will probably do very well, but if you look at what he has done since the couch jumping, well not so good. Even Spielberg felt War of the Wars suffered in the box office because of his antics. They have made up since then, but I imagine Stephen is still burning over the whole incident. Valkeryie, Lambs, etc all did poorly. He gave one of his better performances in Collateral, but that movie too did not come up to expectations. And of course Katie is poison, absolute box office poison. Son of No One did worse than Trespass. Jack and Jill performed way below box office expectations for a Sandler film. She has had a string of indies that even by indie financial measures were flops. The two of them have a loooonnnngggg way to go before the public ever sees them as actors again. They appear in a movie and they have branded themselves with their actions and they are Tom and Katie not the characters. Brad and Angelina have talent (which Katie lacks and Tom has more charisma than talent) and have been able to overcome some of the Brangelina tar and feathering. Aniston (the other triangle member) plays roles her fans expect her to play. And Kidman was dong fine after the divorce in her pursuit of acting. Botox unfortunately has gotten in the way and I believe Xenu hits the boards and does what it can to drag her down.
