OlderKatie Holmes Encouraged Tom Cruise to Do 'Rock of Ages'
Tom Cruise holds hands with wife Katie Holmes while heading to a dance studio on Friday (December 16) in NYC.
The 49-year-old actor will soon be helping Katie celebrate her birthday – she turns 33 this Sunday (December 18)!
Tom recently revealed that he decided to do Rock of Ages with some encouragement from Katie.
“[She] kept saying, ‘You’ve got to make a musical.’ The dancing of [Tropic Thunder character] Les Grossman is inspired because Kate is a dancer. She sings and she would take us to [dance classes],” Tom told MTV News.
“[She would say] ‘I’ve got this dance class for the family, come on we’ve got to do it. We’ve got hip-hop class, we’ve got to do it,’” he added.
FYI: Katie is carrying Clare Vivier‘s red messenger bag.

What an amazing family. Thanks for keeping us updated Jared, we love following them. Everyone loves them. They are so down to earth, surprisingly. As big as a star Tom is, you’d never know! He’s been at the top for over a decade, and he’s still the same gracious man he was before the fame. It’s not surprising that he married such a down to earth simply woman like Katie. Connor, Isabella and Suri are so lucky to have such an awesome dad and stepmom. They are truly America’s favorite family
