Angelina Jolie Reacts to Golden Globes Nomination
Angelina Jolie enjoys a business lunch inside the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Friday (December 16) in Hollywood.
The 36-year-old actress received some exciting news the day before – her directorial debut, In the Land of Blood and Honey, is nominated for a Golden Globe Award in the Best Foreign Language Film category!
“I am grateful that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is honoring our film,” Angie said in a statement.
“This was a true collaboration and I am forever indebted to our cast and crew, who experienced their own personal tragedies in the Bosnian War and gave me an authentic perspective into the conflict,” she added. “This nomination is a tribute to the collective talent and passion of this extraordinary cast.”
The 2012 Golden Globes, hosted by Ricky Gervais, airs January 15 on NBC!

Again with Golden Globes rules?
Go see the rules. The rules for Foreign Language picture say that the movie need to be released in the country of origin.
My first interpretation was that it needed to be released in Bosnia and I said that.
But, they consider USA like country of origin and it could be nominated.
Later I said that I was not sure about the rules.
Even Deadline guy asked Golden Globes if it could be nominated.
Last time I talk about this.
@ Jan–she’s lunching by herself because she has “no friends.” On my way to see the Clooney movie!
So what if ass.hole RG makes fun of the movie, in the grand scheme of things what does it matter. AJ did an amazing job and nothing others say is gonna take away from that. The movie got praise from the people who matters. She wrote it, directed, put up some of the money and got it made, stood by her ground and made it the way she wanted to make it. Any award is deserved.

Forget Duplicity. Where are all the people biitching about The Ides of March being thrown in the Best Picture Drama mix? That movie hasn’t been in mentioned by any of the critics awards or the SAGs. Yet the HFPA noms it for 4 awards? All to cater to Porgie and to hop the Gosling bandwagon. The movie is at 73% Fresh with the top critics on RT and 67% on Metacritic. But Tree of Life, whose director they KNOW isn’t going to show up at the awards show, didn’t make the Best Picture Drama top 5. Once again it’s all about the Angie double-standard.

All the folks writing their non-sense about AJ’s GG nomination can kiss her ass. Where was the up-roar when Duplicity was nominated, that movie was ohh sooo brilliant and JR was soo amazing in it. And for Christ’s sake, that god-awful Burlesque was nominated with The Tourist. Fingers crossed that she wins and p*ss more people off.

4Q, ITA. I don’t understand some fans with their negative views, this movie is getting good reviews from those who have seen it, instead of being happy for Angie, some are projecting their own fears and insecurities/bias opinions; Our thoughts should not be on; what could be or what ifs — Angie made an extraordinary movie and she worked her butts off, putting in her own money, many people, groups who have seen the movie, have nothing but praise for her work, they are hailing it a success and commenting on what a brilliant movie it is, what is wrong in honouring that brilliant effort with awards and norms? it is in recognition of her hard work and we as fans should be happy her work has been recognised and norminated. If you don’t want to be happy for her, keep your negativity to yourself. For now, it’s all good news and everyone who genuinely love and support her should be happy for her. Lets wait until the movie is out. Don’t spoil it for others.
If Ricky G makes fun of Angie and her film on awards night, it would be another course for the par for her….however wouldn’t it be more rewarding for Angelina to receive the globe and then bop him on the head with it?
Fans don’t like pessimism cause that only creates negative waves (feng shui rules apply to this) to come forth. We need to be more optimistic so we encourage the positive. We were rooting for Brad and look how many critical awards have come his way. We did the same for Angie and she’s already getting a lot of raves for her directorial endeavor.
I, for one am very sure that she will be well received on awards night….comedian on stage notwithstanding. The cameras will be on her and Brad most of the time anyway so there will be more shots to look out for every time their names are mentioned. The beautiful duo will be alert for any ambush.

Every movie has it’s detractors, so it’s no big deal if Angie’s movie divides the critics and it’s not declared “brilliant” by everyone. Look at Tree of Life. That movie has divded people like no other film this year. People either loved it or they hated it. Personally I doubt that Ricky Gervais will even have ITLOBAH on his map. It’s a small film in a foreign language about a foreign war and using rape as a tool of war. If Gervais goes after it then he looks like an even bigger d!ckhead than he did last year. The Tourist was fair game because the critics unanimously hated it, it didn’t do great at the domestic box office and it starred 2 of the biggest stars in the world. Going after that film made sense but ragging on film about rape victims? I think Ricky Gervais is too savvy to go there.
@Laranjen: Are you blind? I guess the person sitting next to her is just a figment of the cameraman’s imagination? If she was alone, would they have called it a business lunch?
I’ll answer the troll if I want to because this is how misunderstandings occur. New readers tend to get the idea that it’s all true when nobody clears it up.
@Passing Through:
Agreed. It seems like a year or two away for Cleopatra to begin production. This will be an amazing movie when they finally make it. I think the amazingly talented Fincher, Roth, Jolie in their own rights is worth the wait!
This might be the reason why Angie made that comment about the family possibly growing? I am probably wrong since only Angie & Brad know what their plans are contrary to the 7 year long tabloid lies & nameless sources! LOL
ang had nothing to eat
@tish..Heythere Premalee:
Hi I’m in New York City but I do not have your address to post.
Please let me know. Thanks.
@an oldie:
I don’t understand why the trolls were so up on Ricky and the GGs. I mean to be honest he didn’t say anything nasty about Angie at all. He made a comment about the movie. A movie some liked and some didn’t. He was much more brutal to others. And seriously what could he say. If he talks about adopting that is such an OLD joke. OLD AND TIRED.. tons of other celebs have adopted children. Brad and Angie are not so unique in that. So what are the jokes. He has a show to do and there are way more better targets than Brad/Angie. I expect him to make a joke or maybe 2. But come on what exactly can he say.
the trolls were creaming their panties thinking he would make Angie (especially) or Brad his target. Really.. let’s see. we got Demi/Ashton. the Kardashians, Charlie Sheen, Alec Baldwin, Hundreds to name
We love Brad and Angie. love reading about them. but as celebrity crap goes they don’t have much drama.. Not talking about the tabloid lies which are always proven untrue.
So I don’t care if Ricky host or not.. And I doubt Brad/Angie are caring one way or another. I just want lots of pictures of them at the event. Last year was yummy..
@let me guess:
Maybe not.. but she did leave her as& on the table for you to kiss.
OUR girl is a great tipper.
@aj:
who cares what the reason was, you were wrong, if you were un-sure, you should not have been 90 % sure that ITLOBAH woud not be nominated.
btw, ricky gervais loves bring controversial, the last few weeks he has made fun of disabled and asians.
don’t be shocked if RG does make some sort of crass joke about ITLOBAH.

Angelina Jolie’s harrowing war film startles the critics
The actress’s directorial debut, an unflinching portrayal of the genocide in Bosnia, has sent shockwaves through the Balkans – and may mark the start of a career behind the camera
Angelina Jolie’s name has remained a byword for sex appeal for longer than most film stars could hope, but the 36-year-old Oscar-winner’s status as one of the most compelling women in Hollywood is about to change. Her harrowing directorial debut, In the Land of Blood and Honey, has been met with such unexpected critical acclaim that a future for the actress behind the camera, as well as on screen, now looks certain.
The film, which premiered in New York this month, has already been recognised with a Stanley Kramer award for work in the cinema that draws attention to injustice and social issues. Last week it also received a Golden Globe nomination.

I wish she didn’t get the nomination because we all know this is a party that wants her to be there for so many reasons. But does this help Angie? I don’t think so. I just think this makes her a bigger target if her film is anything less than brilliant. But what choice does SHE have? None. It wasn’t up to her. Sad to say, she is judged by different standards than others in the industry. It is a double-edged sword that helps and hurts.

.
Hmmm, this comment is not sensible. We should not make choices and we should not act out of fear about what people will say about us. We act and make choices which we believe in. Thankfully Angelina and Brad are doing just that.
.
Angelina and Brad are big targets because they are one of the world’s biggest stars. They inspire jealousy in people. For some people, jealousy is a positive emotion. Their feelings of jealousy informs them about the subject of their jealousy. They want some of the success of Angelina and Brad and it inspires them to want to do better, be better, achieve more and get something in their lives that they can be proud of. For others jealousy is a negative emotion. Rather than trying to elevate themselves, they will want to tear down the object of their jealousy.
.
As a fan of Brad and Angelina I hope that they wont be objects of jealousy by small minded people? Rather, I hope they continue to live a life well lived by their own measure.
.
Lots of people have lots to say about how GG movies are selected for the celebrities the HFPA want to attend the awards. There may be some truth in that statement. But despite this, not even the GG can be bribed to select a bad or truly mediocre movie for an award. Horrible Bosses, which is in the comedy section, actually scored 69% on the Fresh. The tourist was actually a beautiful movie of the 1950′s genre. It’s international BO is proof of this.
@Passing Through:
Well, I hope everyone is right and my note of caution is/was only a reflection of MY fears. I am not totally negative however. According to one of those blurbs they have plastered on a promotional poster for ITLOBAH, Joshua Rothkopf of Time Out New York says the film is, a skillful political drama. I assume that comes from a positive review and you will all be happy to know that the Tatometer from RottenTomatoes has them agreeing with him 80% of the time.

What I love about the JPs is that they’re very humble. To be honest, I’m a bit of a snob and if I was as big as Brad and Angie, you’d know it! lol. But not them, they’re just like everyday people.
I was watching Chris Matthews on MSNBC and they had this British guy who was extremely rude to Matthews, accusing Matthews of fighting for Obama to win the election while he was doing the same for the GOP. I’ve noticed that a lot of Brits are very rude and vulgar, yet for some reason Americans find it charming how “straightforward” they are. I don’t think it’s necessary to be so aggressive.
And now Ricky Gervais is trying to make a name for himself by mocking others and Americans find it funny, but it’s coming at the expense of a lot of people.
@from Argentina:
I do not know why everyone was thumbing down the post from from Argentina. Let me clarify… She was agreeing with what I told the former From Chile poster.
I hate to repeat vitriol here, but somehow in one of those local radio shows where they say inane things, the girl on the microphone said that AJ had the problems that poster 87 said… Of course I laughed in disbelief, since I am aware of the latest JP gossip, hehe.
That is why I was suprisednto see that LIE being repeated here, so I did a little checking, since I do not really read gossip in Spanish, only English.
The supposed “news” uses the NE as their source… I think there was some kind of cover with that lie. Whatever media repeated that it was just to fill up pages. Not real news. Kind of the so called hottest women survey. I checked some sites and it hardly got any replies, 90 percent negatives.
As a fan, I don’t worry at all, since the good side of the news is coMing already with the movie release and the nominations, therefore, the public appearances of the JPs. They are already Hundreds of entries about the Moneyball, ITLOBAH and tree of Life. That will mean well for the movies even after they left the theaters.
Have a great Sunday!

@anon:
AJ is somehow always going to be judged by the media in a harder standard than others have been.
If her movie were not great, uuuuugh I told you sos….
If her movie is great, then some superficial and haters will find any tiny thing to complain about, if theycannnot find fault in the movie, they will criticiZe her or her family
If the haters cannot do anything else, they will raise the expectations for her next movie in a way worse than any fan, hehe , of course they love to dehumanize her and try to bring down her image, when other directors have not had perfect careers all the time.
I thiNk that we fans should not worry, She and Brad are on a roll.
I’d like to mention just a few actors turned directors just to check who’s company she is iN, some are good, some are better, some more commercial, others are Polemic:
John Favreau, Mel Gibson, B Stiller, Clooney, B Affleck, Peter Berg, Gene Kelly, Rob Reiner, Sydney Pollack, Ron Howard, Tom MacCarthy, Woody Allen, C Eastwood, Charlie Chaplin, sean Penn, Robert Redford,
Sofia Coppola, Barbra Streisand, Penny Marshall, Jodie Foster, Madonna. I also know that others like Drew Barrymore, Sally Field, or Helen Hunt have directed. I hope these differences in the number of women directors change, and also the recognition grows, of course it must be deserved.
I congratulate AJ because she chose a theme close that interested her, that way, the passion she feels will show in the screen.
@anon:
you are a troll ,i see right through you,give me a fuc*inhg break,warhorse has bad reviews,so does sandra bullock new movie,angie is respected in this industry,her movie is having good buzz
