Gerard Butler Recovering After Surfing Incident

Gerard Butler Recovering After Surfing Incident

Gerard Butler is on the mend after a scary incident involving his latest movie, Of Men and Mavericks.

The 42-year-old Scottish stud was filming scenes for the movie version of surfer Jay Moriarty‘s life story when some strong waves began to come through the Northern California break.

According to ESPN, a large outside set of waves came through and caught the cast and crew off-guard.

“[Gerry] was held down for a solid two waves and took four or five more on the head before being washed through the rocks on the inside, where he was finally able to be plucked out,” eyewitnesses told ESPN.

Gerry was taken to the hospital just in case but is expected to make a full recovery. Glad everyone is okay, but what a scary experience!

    @Dimples: Enjoy your visit to NYC! I love the city! It’s where I saw Butler!! =)

  • angelsrock

    @Dimples:

    HI Dimples. It’s easy for me; there are certain people here I do not read; I literally leap frog right over many posts. The negative, nasty folks are well known and I don’t even bother with them. As they say: sometimes you have to take the sweet with the sour. And there are many sweeties here. And I adore Gerry Butler and enjoy the friendly banter that goes on here. Thanks to a few generous ones who keep me up to date with pics, vids, and general GB news. I”m one busy bee and I appreciate the likes of CGE and RedO among others who keep us informed. So don’t let the nasties keep you away.
    Peace out!

  • Can’tGetEnough

    @Joie de Vivre: Joie, I’m glad you feel you can come here and vent and rant and laugh–whatever you may need to do! STILL keeping you and your honey in my prayers and I do hope you have a good holiday. Stay positive and think GOOD thoughts! =) Hugs to you friend!

    @Autumn: Autumn, you always brighten my day with your posts and you’re welcome on the ‘defending’ thing. =) Have a great evening!

    @Can’tGetEnough:

    CGE, Ditto, literally. I am fighting a bad cold; I even have laryngitis today. My hubby said it’s been heavenly today. LOL I wrapped all my gifts and even attended an ornament exchange tonight. The ladies in our family have been doing this for years!!! We take turns at different houses each year. My mom, sisters, sisters-in-laws, and nieces…ladies only!!! My sister hosted this year. It was lovely! Now it’s time for NyQuil and a good night’s sleep. I”m exhausted.

    So Gerry’s in NYC and most likely headed to the Highlands for Christmas with the family. I hope he has a restful visit. And I’m wondering what’s next on his working agenda.

    Good Night JJ’ers!

  • Can’tGetEnough

    Yep, GB is still in the city tonight–enjoying dinner out and perhaps catching up with his NY friends! Maybe on to Scotland tomorrow to spend the holidays with his family? We’ll see!!

    Just don’t think all deserve that generalisation. But I hear you.

    ++++++
    @angelsrock: That’s one of my questions I suppose. I think your very sweet btw, but what is it about his videos, pics that are posted that you love? Sorry, I know I’m being a pest, you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to. I suppose the closest I’ve come to that is catching myself watching a Hugh Jackman film with my mouth open (I’m not ashamed), or realising half way through a Russell Crowe film that wow, he made me forget that he is acting. I guess I’m just mesmerised by the devotion. Nevertheless, heading out. Will check back soon with respect to the responses to my question. Happy Holidays to all. xoxo

    @Can’tGetEnough:

    Thanks darling! I miss NYC every few months and feel the need to make a trip there. Always try to go in November or April. So a bit leery of the cold. I’m a southern girl. But I miss NYC, so will enjoy it no matter what. Merry Christmas!

  • Can’tGetEnough

    @angelsrock: Hope you feel better Angel! NyQuil and wine? Yeaaa why not? May have to try that myself!!

    Hey JJers! Slept a couple of hours out of shear exhaustion but now I’m wide awake. Can’t help it. Gonna finish the wrapping, but thought I’d check in since it’s hard not to feel leisurely at this hour. HB is out like a light….probably a little like Angelsrock right about now….LOL ♥

    @Can’tGetEnough: Well done! Brilliant! Did I say well done? LOVE the Butler collage of animated facial expressions! Sorry to hear about your cold…you AND angelsrock, apparently….I’m cheering for you both because I KNOW what it is like at this time of year. The only reason I probably don’t have a cold right now is because even cold germs wouldn’t get anything out of me right now. We’re hosting my family on Christmas Day and HB’s family the day after….. good times!!! No, seriously….it is the best gift of all. XXO

    @COCO: Aww…COCO, God Bless You, Darling! Hope you are well and happy and that you have a splendid holiday season. Positive thoughts and prayers coming your way, love. Hey, check this out….hope it’s not a repeat post. Not really new news, COCO, but one of the guys interviewed (watch the video) reacts in an authentic way…..again, sorry if it is a repeat….

  • Tonto

    Hello all! I’ve been very busy hangin with my Lone ranger lately. We have a small cheesecake business here where we live that has had us overwhelmed these last few weeks. I try to sneak over here to read what’s going on in Butlerville when I can, but just didn’t have time to post. I enjoy everyone’s contributions and like Dimples has mentioned, many of the ladies that regularly post here are great people to communicate with like, Autumn, Lolita, Joie, Angel, RedO, CGE, Manny, Maggie, God Bless you all, Niknoks and so many others who can bring a ray of sunshine when they post. I call it positive energy. This crazy world we live in these days has so much negativity and too often people like to post garbage just to stir the pot and vent their frustrations with nasty posts just to get a rise out of someone, especially if what is being said doesn’t jive with how they think. It’s too easy on the internet and sites like this for anonymous people to blatantly spout off just for the fun of it too. People getting along and sharing some fun is boring to them so they jump in to get some attention with mean spirited posts hoping to get the dialog more to their frame of mind. As Curious Cat has said in the past. Sometimes it’s fun to exchange information and share what may be going on in our lives with others without getting nasty. And as Lolita said, people often post here from different parts of the country and around the world with one common denominator, GB. So, Thank you to all my JJ friends for keeping this place positive and fun. The negative people can be ignored at least as much as possible.
    Joie de Vivre, I also have been keeping your situation in prayer. My own sister is dealing with some possible health issues right now so I know how it feels as many others here know too. Prayer is the most powerful thing you can give to another person.
    In the mean time, I wish you all a happy, healthy and peaceful Christmas and New year. Hugs to you all.

  • redO

    @COCO:
    I like you.

  • LeAnn Rimes

    Oh my….LeAnn Rimes is so hot and so in love with her man. Why Can’t Butler find a woman like her to marry.
    She has a great body, great looks, nice personality, and she is also the right age….what could be bad?

  • bystander

    I have a question for those of you more experienced in these things.
    Is gb likely to stay for the whole screening of coriolanus at curzon street, London, on 5th January? It’s just I have a ticket for the graham Norton show being filmed at the same time in waterloo. He’s due on the show to be broadcast the following night, so I’m wondering if it will be a prefilmed segment? Not bothered-I like Mr Norton’s naughty humour, and escaping to London.

  • angelsrock

    @Dimples:

    Good Morning All. Well, it seems I survived the NyQuil and Wine after all. I did sleep like a rock though and I needed that!! A few more errands today to finish up.

    Dimples, you asked “but what is it about his videos, pics that are posted that you love?”

    I have never adored a celebrity in my whole life. I was never one, even as a teen, to swoon over stars and musicians like a lot of my girlfriends did. Back in 2005 I watched Phantom of the Opera and was mesmerized by Gerry’s performance. I googled him and was hooked. I really can’t explain. My family just laughs and goes along with me. They have actually become big fans too. I enjoy following his career and when I catch a glimpse of him in pics and vids, it makes me smile. That’s all. I know it sounds pretty weird. Before 2005, I wouldn’t have gotten it either. Just a fun distraction and guilty pleasure. Everyone should have one of those. It does a body good!!!

  • angelsrock

    @Can’tGetEnough:

    Love this! What a cool graphic!!! He is always so animated in interviews!!

  • angelsrock

    @Tonto:

    Cheesecake? Did you say cheesecake? One of my favorite treats!!!

    I bet you have been busy this time of year! Great to see you; glad you had time to check in.

    Merry Christmas!!

  • angelsrock

    @bystander:

    I’d go see the Graham Norton show. I think that would be a lot more fun. He may introduce Coriolanus and then leave. And you wouldn’t really get to see him much if at all. He probably will be a hoot on GN’s show. That show gets crazy. I love it.

    Let us know what you choose and how it goes!

  • bystander

    @angelsrock: thanks angel, shall go to Mr Nortons whatever. Not so hard core that I feel the need to hang around for gb in curzon st in the winter! Just curious whether he might be there- I suspect not . Shame , the prospect is quite thrilling. I’m sure the pheromones would permeate the whole studio
    Shall have one of my usual weekends of me time. A bit of theatre, art, history and shopping!

  • Can’tGetEnough

    @COCO: COCO, if you have had enough of “reading these dead-brained comments by some of the lame posters who hang out here”, then why do you read them? A serious question.

  • Joie de Vivre

    @Can’tGetEnough: @angelsrock: Good morning, CGE and Angel! Hope you’re both feeling better today. COCO’s original post directed towards me is gone now. It said something like…”I’m tired of the goody goody posts. If you need a social worker or a clergy, then go see one. This is not the place.” I’m not changing, so take it or leave it…..At the last minute, I decided to change the menu for HB’s family Christmas dinner, so I am heading to the grocery store (UGH!). Today is sunny and bright around here and I feel the same way. HB is in very good spirits. He’ll be done visiting his customers by 10:00 am and I am pretty much off. Had a year-end meeting with my boss yesterday and my sales increased 28% over last year. Cause for a celebration, don’t you think? Angel, I stumbled across Butler sort of the same way, but only in April of this year. So very out of character for me, as well. I’ve never swooned over anyone except HB. His endearing personality just won me right over. Have a lovely day friends! XXO

  • Joie de Vivre

    @Tonto: Merry Christmas, Tonto! You are a good, positive person and I appreciate you and your optimism. Be safe and happy and enjoy your holidays! Now, I have a craving for cheesecake and it IS HB’s favorite, so I guess I’ll be picking up the stuff for that as well. Bet yours just rock, though! God bless! XXO

  • Cnoc Mhor

    @Autumn: Hey, glad you found a bit of my post(s) fun:) I gather I’m a bit “too serious” for one or some here on the GB JJ forum!!…LOL….well, I am who I am and would rather be authentic than pretend to be something I’m not in order to please or fit in:)….hmmm… now that I think about it, maybe the “seriousness” explains my love of Greek Drama and Shakespearean Tragedy??…heavy stuff indeed…lol… Unfortunately for the most part the comedy gene didn’t run in the family although on that very rare occasion I am happy to say that humor resulting in laughter from others does escape me:) Have a great day everyone:) ***smiles***

  • Can’tGetEnough

    @Joie de Vivre: Joie, good morning and good luck in the grocery store. I have to head there myself and I’m dreading it. I should have gone two hours ago, but the cold meds I took last night (no wine unfortunately LOL) knocked me out and I slept in a bit. Needed it I guess! Feeling slightly better today, but not 100%.
    Congrats on your sales increase! This is good. Things are looking positive! I’m so glad for that and I’m so glad you’re feeling better this morning. I hope your HB is staying positive too and I have no doubt with YOU around, he can’t be anything but positive! =)

    Have a wonderful day Joie!

  • Can’tGetEnough

    @Cnoc Mhor: Cnoc, it’s good to see you back here on the board. I know you had gone for awhile and I was hoping you’d pop back in. I’ve always enjoyed your posts so keep ‘em coming! Really!
    Happy Holidays!

  • Quinn

    @angelsrock: So glad I happened on here this morning and saw your post. I’m the same way. I never cared a whole lot about celebs until I came across Gerry, and he wasn’t exactly a celeb when I first saw him. He was in Attila the Hun (I remember people on TV calling the show Attila the Hunk in jest! LOL) Then I didn’t think much about him for a few years until I got a computer of my own and Googled him. Didn’t dare spend time on my work computer obsessiving over him. It was all over for me then. I still don’t care about any other actor etc. Just Gerard. He’s got something that catches me. Sometimes I think I spend too much time on my “hobby.” I’m a Butler trivia expert who gets mifed when I read articles that contain wrong information. LOL. Oh, well, it doesn’t hurt anyone. I also have a RL, but a little bit of it is devoted to Gerry.

  • Autumn

    Hey GIRLS! Good morning! Just finished by beloved WA Post and a large cup of coffee – what bliss! Now down to business: Tonto’s Cheesecake, Angel’s wine & Nyquil – I say it’s a Party! Bystander going to Graham Norton; JDV shopping for a new menu; CGE & Angel not so well with colds – Bless you! Cnoc Mhor and that great wit! Maggie, RedO and Lolita with their big hearts! and Miss Dimples – I bet you have a fabulous smile!

    I would just love to get you ladies together and enjoy your company in person – think of the champagne, cabernet, and food plus a lot of yellow towels (still haven’t seen this movie). Would we have some fun and make some mischief! Working with mainly men, my women friends are scattered and few. So all of you make up my “Female” family in CyberSpace. I am a lucky women indeed to have so much GREAT Estrogen in the ether.

    It’s amazing that some of us have found each other and we skip the BS to remain pleasant, uplifting, and not so jaded. In might help that we “might” be a bit more mature (in my case older) and have weathered a few bumps in the road and storms so we have a different perspective. The younger ladies have their own bumps to hit and will – that’s life. Some of them will become more enlightened and understand in time.

    Women are the builders of life – not the wrecking crew! Some feel that they have to tear down others to feel better – I hate this about my gender. I don’t compete with other women – never have!

    Ladies, you are all some of the brightest, kindest, most genuine people I have had the chance to meet even in a cyber venue. I cherish the times we spend here sharing our lives; “fantasizing” about Mr. B (my hubby chuckles as his fantasy is JLO – his hall pass :)) – kidding- just enjoying Mr. B and those green eyes; and just being supportive. Since I can’t be with my real family at Christmas, I’ll enjoy spending it with you on JJ. Sunday I head to a SOME shelter with some other volunteers and we cook holiday dinner for the shelter – it makes me happiest!

    Thank you for helping me through a difficult year in spite of political differences, views on the world and people, etc. I count my blessings every day and include each of you in them. Merry Christmas!

    Hubby is coming home early and we are headed to a movie – yes a real movie with popcorn – MGP was the last movie I saw totally alone!

    Hugs – Mistletoe – Wine & Nyquil – Cheesecake – all around!

    Guilty pleasure and an outlet from stressful job. Some don’t like me and some appreciate me because I tend to speak my mind, but oh well, I am who I am.
    .
    If you stick around you will learn that some smart ladies are here and genuinely can make your day better just with their uplifting attitude. Beside the peeks into their worlds wherever they are in the world can be humbling. I enjoy most people here too. I went through a very hard time a couple of years ago and posters here renewed my faith in hope. It is hard to not keep in contact with that.
    .
    BTW I would be missed… if I left who would Eve stalk? I don’t want her wandering the streets listlessly calling “Manny I hate you” during this cold weather. I just can’t deny her my presence to target for her spleen-venting. :)
    .
    Also the slo-mo trainwreck of GFW and Dargabriel on a collision course is a little hard to turn away from.

    BTW no matter what comes your way, you two have each other and the love you share. Always cling to each other is my small bit of advice. Don’t allow the situation to drive a wedge. It almost killed us (me and hubby). Good counseling and refocusing on us saved our marriage. God bless Joie and chin up. ♥

    Still catching up…

    Just to add my twopenneth, I only noticed Mr b earlier this year, despite owning a copy of psily! Spent spring listening to poto instead of learning lines for an amdram I was on! Out of character for me too.
    Is it the animal magnestism (hubby was 6ft 2, size 11s and dark wavy hair, beard and moustache when we wed), or the conundrum- who is gb and how much is brand extension? We’ll never know how much of a sensitive, spiritual soul or frightening player he is. The charisma and unrealized potential draws you in anyway! Although I wish he wouldn’t overegg a point sometimes. Found myself shouting at him to stop talking b*llocks during the wrath hour long interview!
    Lovely that some festive harmony has descended on the board.
    Wishing you all, too numerous to mention, a very happy holiday and a new year that ticks every box. Think it would have to be a midatlantic party!

  • Autumn

    @Manny: Hi Manny! LOL – I am an enigma in more ways than that. Gun range, an art exhibit, a pair of Manolos or my steel-toed biker boots – I’m a mixed bag of contradictions.

    Gun range is to stay qualified yet wow it is stress relief – funny to envision people while taking aim. Kick-Boxing is another; Yoga; and a propensity to cook when I’m home. The latter is what I’m doing Xmas day at a shelter in DC.

    Have a wonderful holiday in UT! Pray you don’t get too much snow. Friends in Albuquerque emailed 2 feet there – ouch! Enjoy your holiday with your beautiful hubby and best wishes for all your dreams coming true in 2012.

    Hugs

    You are bloody brilliant…. brand extension. So simple to describe something so puzzling. He is an engima and I believe he likes that to be his public persona. For me he is a good distraction from RL sometimes but I wouldn’t want him in my life. He is like a Monét painting for me. Breathtaking from afar but the closer you get the more you can see the ugly bumps and imperfections. Butler from afar…that is the way I prefer him. :)

  • niknoks

    @Autumn:

    I don’t usually go shooting for stress relief, I am going pheasant hunting over the Christmas holidays with my brother, nothing like eating your own kill. Tastes so much better. Rabbit is my favourite but they aren’t in season.

    I do box and kickbox, that’s great for stress relief, I do Krav Maga for self defence reasons and love every second of it. I prefer pilates to yoga and I find cooking very therapeutic.

    Some of the other nurses in the ER have started kickboxing to keep in shape. Talk about bruises… Another two are doing polecizing (is that even a word) where they work out on a stripper pole. Right now I’ll stick with running and Zumba. I guess I’m a slave to fashion since I don’t look good in black & blue bruises… or maybe I’m just a whimp. :)))
    .
    My hubby works in law enforcement… I can feel a date night at the gun range in our future. Gotta try it once. :)
    .
    This is our first year we are staying at our home for Christmas since we got married. We have always headed back home every Holiday season. There is something so peaceful about this year because it isn’t all pack this, pack that. Dad has been busy keeping fires burning in the fireplaces for the cuddly warmth and hubby whistles carols non-stop. Looking forward to our first Utah Christmas.

  • Can’tGetEnough

    @Manny: Sounds like you have a great holiday planned. We are staying home as well. My family is on Long Island and only 2 hours from me, but on a holiday a 2 hour trip turns into a 4-5 hour trip ONE WAY! No exaggeration! We wind up spending the majority of the holiday in the car! Not this time!

    Enjoy it Manny and Happy Holidays to you and your family!

    Interesting! She’s very young.
    @Manny:
    She isn’t that pretty. Just average looking but maybe she looks better in RL.

    Anyway, why does she look to you like not the kind to take to Mama?

    She might not be that pretty, but she doesn’t look cheap or sl/utty, just a young girl out with her friend at a nightclub.

    In any case, she said he asked for her number but doesn’t say if she gave it to him or it’s just implied she did. Or, maybe he asked for her number but never followed on really getting it. Sometimes, he just likes to say things that sound good lol.
