Maggie Gyllenhaal: I Don't Have Time to Exercise!

Maggie Gyllenhaal digs through her handbag while running errands on Wednesday (December 21) in Brooklyn, New York.

The 34-year-old actress and husband Peter Sarsgaard, who are already parents to 5-year-old Ramona, are expecting their second child together.

“Honestly, I don’t know how mothers who are working find time to go exercise,” Maggie recently told the French edition of Elle.

“I can’t be a wife, a mother, an actress and run every day,” she added. “So I have to admit that I find it easier to forget to run than to cook dinner for my daughter.”

I love her! She’s so normal and realistic.. not a freaking celebrity with a beauty obsession… Every mother of the real world knows that is almost impossible be a top model and a good mom…
    Go, Maggie!

It wasn’t anything against you silly. It sounds the way the question was posed she felt a little guilty and gave the response she did. I only 1/2 agree, but I completely get where she is coming from! Lovely woman!

Wow people – if she’d been like Gwen Paltrow “oh it’s all so easy I’m so perfect” you’d jump all over her a$$ too!

I love that she’s a real woman & mother; no team of nannies raising her children so she has time for ‘work’ & exercise & & &…

She’s giving props to those of us in the trenches w/ crappy jobs that *are* actually work and still have to take care of our families & homes w/out a bajillion dollar bank account!!

Love the Gyllenhaal siblings; their parents did something very very right!

As a mother that both stayed home awhile and then had to return to work full-time–it is definitely easier to do things like “run” when you are a full-time mom. You can put the child in a stroller in the middle of the day and run. You can make it to the gym where they have day care and use the running track. You can get another mom to trade off and watch the child and run.
When you work, which is where she is coming from, you often don’t have the options for running that a non-working mom has. And I think that is where she was coming from.
Different life styles, both great tho.

I saw her the other day in Brooklyn where she lives on Parkside.. she looked crazy she came out with her PJ’s. She really should take more care of herself. She looks exactly like she does in those photos unattractive.

I love her honesty and how she puts the needs of her young daughter first. It’s nice to see that attitude in a successful actress. Her stock just rose in my eyes!
