    It’s not like she needed the work and she had just had her son David Jr at the time or was expecting him depending on when the script was offered. it’s like Joanne Woodward passed on Some Came Running back in 1958 though she turned that down because she knew she wouldn’t work well with Frank Sinatra

    @Courtney: Actually Precious was filmed in late 2007 so this was pre- David Jr and Sr and means she probably got the script for it earlier that year. I remember the long wait it took Precious to finally make it to theaters in late 2009. Jennifer eventually signed on for Secret Life of Bees. And she’s right, a film that focused on her weight probably would not have been the direction she wanted to go and she had the perception of being way too old to play high school anyway. Besides, Gabby was perfect for Precious.
